Summary
It’s the ritual, Three realises, when he glides the brush across Vessel’s chest. The fact they’re all partaking in it, a small offering to Sleep that works on the God’s special boy, gets Vess’s blood pumping and his frantic energy bouncing around the room.
Or, the band takes turns painting Vessel's paint on after it melts off that one night.

“It looks like the red paint from Australia,” Ivy says, and opens the cap of the jar. It doesn’t immediately stink of ozone, just looks like regular paint, though it's untouched and thick. When Ivy shows it to them Three leans down, sniffs at it. It smells a little like their make up girl. “How’d it end up in our stuff?”
The red paint makes a comeback.

Summary
“Look at you,” Vessel says, breathing out with a sigh, and Three has no idea what he must look like, but he feels like he’s kneeling at the altar, worshipping him. “Find us someone good, Three, and I’ll make it worth your while.”
Three sniffs through the crowd of people, mouth slightly open as he tastes the air, like a snake looking for a meal. He doesn’t really mind what kind of prey he gets, as long as Three’s allowed to eat, but Sleep’s a picky fucker, so Three keeps that in mind as he moves.
Ah, the thing in Three’s gut sings, as he passes by the door to an outdoor area, people smoking over a balcony, a single woman sitting by herself on a stack of crates-cum-seating. There.
