Comment on Whose Poems Sewed You Shut

  1. Oh my gosh I'm overwhelmed right now, I must have reread this comment ten times. You can definitely talk forever if you want to, haha. Thank you so much!!!

I am very familiar with the tragedy of small fandoms and stilted fic, so I'm super happy this was emotionally resonant for you the way I wanted it to be.

Admittedly, I'm normally very much down with the idea that canonverse-ish Frank can't really express or even internally access a lot of his emotions - he's just shut down too hard, hurt too much to deal with it. But in this he has to let himself feel things again in order to let himself have them and love them again, and that makes it easier for him to acknowledge the ways Matt effected him even while they were still gone. I do think it's telling that even in this, he tells Maria and Lisa how much Matt means to him earlier and more explicitly than he ever actually tells Matt. He's easing into it, though, and I love playing with the increasing ways he lets himself show affection over the course of the story. And I'm so glad you like the Castles!! The more I thought about what I wanted them to be like, the more I loved them.

EASILY, HA. That threesome scene was definitely one of the hardest to write, but I'm delighted with how it turned out. I'll tell you the secret underpinning of all their sexual dynamics in this: Matt thinks Frank is a dom, but he's totally not. He's a service switch. He's not even really into pain, hurting people is his day job? But he likes making Matt go crazy so he's happy to apply his skills to the task. Maria, however, is 100% a domme.

Thank YOU so much for leaving such a thoughtful and detailed comment. It absolutely makes my day to hear someone enjoyed my work so much. <3
