im kind of addicted to reading fics about this missing scene specifically and this one is SOOOO good. scott is like...juuuust out of reach of coming to the right conclusion but ilya talks so carefully around his own personal stakes and acts at such odds with the way scott expects him too that he can't quite get there. such a good take on how ilya would handle this whole conversation and wanting to express not just support but, like, gratitude for what scott has done even though he can't outright say it
