Israel isn’t awake when the new kid comes on board. He’s wrapped up in strong, tanned arms, a crooked nose buried in the back of his neck and a thick leg pinning his thigh to the cot, caught somewhere between drunk and dreaming, mouth dry and sticky with drink and the taste of someone else’s spit. Abel snores like a kicked donkey but at least the bosun’s room is clean and the cot is soft, softer than the hammocks belowdecks.
Edward Drummond arrives on Israel Hands' ship at the worst possible moment.

Angry, heartbroken, recovering from trauma and with demons that follow them all, this ragtag group must come together to survive the seas- and help each other heal in the process.
A series of character studies following the group’s departure from the Revenge in Never Meet Your Heroes. Can be read as a standalone, but will make more sense if you read Never Meet Your Heroes first.

Israel Hands, first mate to Blackbeard himself, number one Stede Bonnet hater, and general badass experienced pirate with (infinitely many) better things to do with his time, is sneaking silently across the deck of his own ship in the dead of night, bent on taking a rowboat and expending a great deal of time and effort in order to retrieve the person he despises most in the world.

Blackbeard's post-breakup leadership style leaves much to be desired. As much as Izzy hates to admit it, Stede Bonnet might be the only one who can get through to him at this point. So he sets off on a quest to find him.
