Sejanus had made a point of never begging his father for anything.
His father who had worked tirelessly to assimilate him to life in the Capitol, to completely erase any last trace of his identity from District Two, to mold him into a son he could be proud to call his own. And Sejanus had fought back every step of the way. He had never wanted to lose his humanity, but that was a wish his father did not seem to share or even respect.
