Having been faced down by some of the Protectors, the rogues try to get to Tony, certain if Steve can just talk with Tony, everything will go back to the way it was. As Tony refuses to talk with Steve, and Wanda has her powers sealed, the rest eventually realize things will never be the same.

Summary
When in another universe Thanos leads a full scale invasion, Steven Rogers -with what's left of that world's heroes- goes to a different earth to warn them of the incoming invasion.
Steven could however never have guessed that his counterpart made such a mess of everything.

AU. On a different Earth, the Avengers lose to Thanos at the cost of nearly all the superheroes and brightest scientists. With Hank Pym's help, a portal to another different Earth is opened so the Avengers who lost can warn the next batch. The dimension Avengers find the Earth's Avengers appalling. Group two is pleasant, helpful, cooperative, and all that good stuff. When group one sees group two being interviewed, they decide to break into the Tower to capture them. Group two manage to distract group one long enough to be rescued. Endgame is fixed when group two Captain Rogers does CPR on Tony, and he lives, although gravely hurt.

With a working time machine, the idea is to go back and change a couple of things to get ready for Thanos. With great reluctance on Tony's part, Steve winds up being the best candidate. He memorizes a careful list of who to talk to and what to say. As soon as he transitions, he goes to Howard and blabs too much, as well as cautioning him against Tony. Howard promises not to use the future information, but immediately breaks his promise. When the time changes, Steve discovers he has completely screwed up everything, and with the time stone no longer available, he and the world will have to live like this forever.
