Summary
Everybody knows that Harry Potter left Britain seven years ago. Fewer people seem to know why he left, where he went, or what might have happened to 'The Man Who Conquered', though of course everyone seems to have a theory.
As far as Senior Curse Breaker Jacqueline Evans is concerned, that's the way it ought to stay. Jacqueline has spent the better part of a decade building a new life for herself, far from an oppressive fame and pushy investigative reporters. A life that she has no intentions of ever giving up, despite the loneliness that sometimes creeps into the empty spaces around her.
To Daphne Greengrass none of the speculation is half as important as the fact that she's almost certain Harry Potter is never coming back. It's what she's counting on after invoking a generations-old clause in a contract between the Greengrass and Potter Estates in a last-ditch effort to circumvent long-held family expectations. It's a delicate game, balancing her father's pride against his threats of disownment, but she's always had a deft touch.
When Jacqueline receives an urgent dispatch from Gringotts requesting her presence in London to discuss her upcoming ritual, Daphne's house of cards begins to wobble.

When Ginny gets hurt in a wronski feint gone wrong, Hermione is on hand to take her away from the swarming fans and straight to a quieter part of St Mungo's.
Where the only mediwitch around is Narcissa Black. Healer and master legilimens.
And apparently Hermione's thoughts are rather loud.
Oops.

Summary
Lying at the end of the long tunnel that is death is a train station. And, by some logic of the universe, one can come back to life if one has some odd magical object in one's possession. So, when Harry greets the train station that is emptiness itself, complete neutrality (not death, not life) for the 257th time, he knows all of this. He understands that the universe is a horrible, twisted thing. And, he gets a little creative.

Summary
Harry is doing quite alright after the war. He's not going back to Hogwarts, but it's not like anyone can blame him for not going back to where he died, and he's still getting his NEWTs remotely. He's fine, he's busy renovating his house and getting rid of all the unsavory bits of magic scattered all over the place, and he doesn't really need anyone's help.
Except, Narcissa Malfoy is suddenly there, week after week to make sure he doesn't destroy her family's legacy, and then she keeps coming back even after Harry's done with the place. Somehow they become friends? Harry has no idea how that happened, but he decides he likes it very much. Likes her maybe a bit more than that, too.
