Summary
Almedha, the once heir to Goldoa’s throne and the once Queen of Daein, a woman of untold beauty, and the object of affections Petrine had spent so long trying to deny.
It was a knight’s duty to tend to the wants of their liege, wellbeing and happiness both.
So, when Almedha approached Petrine on the walls of Daein Keep, wrapped tight in a cloak to stave off the cold, and confessed a desire to escape, Petrine did nothing to stop her.
In fact, she faltered twice over, abandoning her post to leave alongside Almedha.
King Ashnard had three other Riders and legions of knights, men who would fight and die for him without a second thought.
Almedha had none of that, nor even the means to defend herself with the draconic form she would use to do so torn from her very being.
While not defenseless she was vulnerable, and surely… surely safeguarding her Queen could come above all else.
