Summary
When they finally calm down, the empty space between them is gone. With them both sitting crisscrossed, Will leans on Lucas’ shoulder and points to the sky and says: “Earlier I was thinking about colors and how at night everything here looks blue.”
Lucas follows his finger and looks up, “Even me?”
“Yeah.”
“What color?”
“Indigo.”-

Summary
The first time Lucas hears the word queer, he’s eight, sitting in church beside his father and Erica.
They’ve just finished praise singing, and honestly, it’s Lucas’s favorite part. He’s always loved music—how the hums and hymns find their way into his chest when words can’t.
He knows Kathy’s son hasn’t been to church in a while—at least not since Christmas, and that was forever ago. That’s one of the many curses that come with living in a small town: everyone knows everything.
But Kathy still comes and teaches Sunday service, and sometimes she’ll sneak him a peppermint or a butterscotch if he gets a Bible question right. So when the two women sitting in front of him start whispering after Sunday school, he can’t help but listen—since they’ve got her name in their mouth—even if his dad says to stay out of grown folks’ business.<”He doesn’t know what queer means.
But he knows it’s bad.
Something that makes you miss service and has the church ladies gossiping.

Will looks behind him too as the front door closes. He is too out of breath to speak and Lucas’ smile only makes him more confused.
Secret hideout? Here?
Lucas pulls on his hand once again and leads him to the bedroom he has known for years now.
“We’re coming!” he hears Dustin’s singing voice from down the stairs.
“You have nowhere to hide now, you’re trapped!” Mike says a little more seriously.
“Yeah,” Lucas scoffs in front of him. “That’s what they think.”Or, the Party plays hide and seek and Will and Lucas hide in a closet.

Summary
“Um, so about Will’s first kiss.” Lucas said, after they had finished off a bag of chips together.
“What?” Mike immediately asked, not even trying to act subtle about it.
“It was actually me. I couldn’t say anything because… yeah.” Lucas said.
He glanced over at Will smiling and nodding along. Mike’s entire brain stopped functioning because… what? Lucas couldn’t just drop this nuclear sized bomb on him and expect him to act normal about it. With everything regarding Will, Mike felt far from normal.

Summary
“How do we do that?” Will asked, confused. It’s not like girls were lining up to kiss them. Will doesn’t even want them to.
“We should kiss each other.” Lucas said, the usual confidence in his voice was slightly waivered, but he was looking at Will so calmly you’d think he just asked if they should eat chips or something.
“Sorry, what?”
“Only if you want!” Lucas tacked on, “I think it’d be nice.”
---
OR: Will and Lucas start acting weird when Mike claims Will's never kissed anyone. Mike gets nosey and eventually the two tell the party they were each other's first kiss.

“Relax, man. Like this.”
Will hands him the ball and Lucas dribbles it slowly. He exaggerates so Will can get a good visual, each of his movements fluid and practiced. Will feels his face heat up when Lucas turns around to look at him.
“You think you got it?”
Will stammers a bit. “I guess I could try again.”
