Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Summary:

hey guys
im sick rn so i have nothing better to do besides work on this. but being sick means my brain is slightly muddled of whatever, so if this chapter is really bad or doesnt make sense then sorry gang
also its really short but my boy fitzroy (hey that rhymes) is here!!! and its in his pov too!
and when i say really short i mean REALLY short. i ussually write these summaries before i write the actual chapter but based off the plan it will be like a few hundred words instead of like a thousand.
ALSO THIS IS PROBABLY REALLY OOC!!! i always have trouble writing fitz because in every fic ever he is either the devil with even worse anger issues, or just a silly little guy. and i didnt want to do either, but i may have just made him an NPC. well maybe he will be better in later chapters with him.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Fitz Vacker was a police officer rookie, and this was his first murder case.

That seemed kind of strange, considering it seemed like every day in New York there was some new report of a death, but everyone at the police station always insisted that he "couldn't handle it” and “should stick to things a little more his speed”.

He understood that they were just trying to keep him safe, but come on! He was nineteen, he wasn’t a child.

Thankfully, they let Fitz come this time, but because he was “just a rookie” he had to search the house for evidence instead of handling the body.

That one, Fitz didn't argue with. He didn't exactly want to touch a corpse.

The crime scene was a mess, the whole house covered in dirty clothes, weapons, and pieces of paper with so much science and math that it hurt Fitz’s head just to look at them.

Well, this basically confirmed that multiple people lived here. The different handwriting on the papers and the different size and style of clothes proved it.

The whole house had basically nothing, besides a closet that had nothing but black cloaks with white eyes on them, which seemed really weird and culty. But, Fitz wasn't one to judge people's fashion sense. But he still filed the cloaks away in his brain for later, in case they turned out useful.

But it was the room in the basement, where things really got interesting.

Because underneath the house was a lab.

And it wasn't a crappy one like in school science classes, either.

There were two long tables, each with microscopes, test tubes, and bottles of different colored substances that Fitz decided he would leave to the professionals. The trash can on the side of the room was overflowing with glass jars and had so much different goop that it looked like a bunch of melted gummy bears if they had a black flavour.

That was a horrible expression, he thought to himself. And focus, this lab is a breakthrough. Stop thinking about gummy bears.

Near the door where Fitz had entered, there was a small shelf with a jar on it. The circle of dust beside it suggested that there had been a second jar beside it recently, but was no longer there.

He stared at the jar, investigating it. It was filled with the same black goo as the trash can. But while that substance was thin, breaking apart, and lighter, it was thick and so dark it was like staring right into the void.

Fitz was just about to start looking at the rest of the lab when the black goo moved.

Not a lot, it wasn't dancing around in there, but just enough that it definitely was not the wind that sloshed it.

The police rookie jumped back, a lot more scared then he would ever admit.

Okay, maybe it's time to call this in.

Fitz grabbed his radio, or a walkie talkie as the less professional officers called it.

“Uh, you might want to see this. Come to the basement.”

One of the less professional officers that Fitz had just been thinking about showed up, but he honestly didn't care.

“Woah!” the guy said, Kenric according to his name tag.

“Yeah, woah is right. What do you think it is?”

Kenric shrugged, but pointed to the trash can, which had started steaming slightly. That wasn't worrying at all.

“I would say that all of those are failed experiments at creating this. But what exactly is it?”

The black goo moved again, and Fitz wished it could talk. But that would probably make it even weirder than it already is.

“Well, should we take it to the station?”

Kenric nodded. “Yeah, let the actual scientists take a look at it.”

Despite being terrified of whatever was in that jar, Fitz grabbed it and put it in an evidence bag.

The two officers walked up the stairs, back to where the body was, to put it with the rest of the evidence. On the way, Fitz spotted his sister, Biana, through the window.

She was on the front steps of the house, with her friend, Tam, and two other kids that he doesn't recognize. A blonde boy, and a black haired girl that looks just like Tam.

Fitz couldn't help but feel annoyed when he saw them. This was a dangerous crime scene, and there were murderers afoot. Biana shouldn't be anywhere near here!

It was that kid Tam, he brought her here. Tam randomly showed up at like half the crime scenes Fitz went to. He must have a passion for CSI or something. But Fitz didn't want him to drag Biana with him. He didn't want her to get injured, or worse.

Tam Song, Fitz thought as he stared at the group. If your little crime obsession gets my sister hurt…

There will be hell to pay.

Notes:

sorry its so short yall it was originally going to be part of another chapter but i split them
also we are in the endgame now only ONE more chapter (but its a long one and might be split into 2) until part two, which actually might come out sooner than i thought (like maybe 5 months instead of 6 lol) because i was avoiding working on my other kam fic so much that i ended up working on this one.
well played, self.
oh also kenric cameo lol i put him in for zero reason i just felt like it.
ALSO! INFORMATION WILL BE WRONG!!! I KNOW THINGS IN SPIDERMAN LORE BUT I DONT CARE! you have probably figured out what the black goo is, but if you havent then i wont be the one to tell you. but to those who do know, this fic will not follow actual lore for what it is at all, because this one was created in a lab, instead of what actually happens in spiderman. so yeah, if you are a spiderman suoer fan and are ready to kill me because it doesnt make sense, then just do it bro.
