"Hi Ma'am, yeah, hi, can I uh, speak to your son, please? An old friend is trying to track him down and this is the last known address and number."
"Uh, yeah, um, so I've heard, but I assure you they used to be very close and they'd really like to reconne-"
"Oh. Oh god. Ma'am I'm so sorry. I didn't know. How... when did..."
"Two years, right... Um, I'm really sorry for your loss."
"Ma'am, please don't cry, I really am sorry."
"Yeah, I mean, if you want to, that's fine, of course."
"..."
"No I mean... I'm sure you did the best you could. Sometimes it's just hard to see, right? And hard to know what to do."
"Well... maybe. But it takes a village, that's what they say. Maybe... maybe other people needed to be there too."
"Right."
"No. No I don't think that's weird at all. I think it's probably really important that you did that. Gives it all some meaning, at least. I have some friends myself in a similar situation whose parents wouldn't do that and I hate seeing how much it gets to them. I'm sure it would have been appreciated, and who cares what the family thought? You did the right thing."
"Yeah."
"I'm so so sorry again by the way. I really didn't know. Um... I might call you back, if that's ok? I might... actually just to check, do you have a computer?"
"Right. Yeah. No cause there's... I have an idea, something that could maybe help, but I need to talk to some people first cause it's all a bit... complicated. Might do more harm than good."
"Yeah I guess they are. But as long as it's not a problem that I want to be a bit cautious about this."
"No. Yeah not at all."
"Yeah. Oh one more thing actually. I... I'm not usually supposed to talk about names when I do this, but you said... yeah... the name you said about, the one from the note. Could I... could I get that name? I... I have a feeling it might be quite important to this old friend."
