I Felt Those Empty Eyes Stare Back at Me...

Chapter 8: Take me back to where it all began...

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

The sky cried, along with all those that had gotten the pleasure of knowing the sunflower blonde.

White lilies decorated the fallen boy’s casket, as he laid there still, as everyone dropped a different type of flower at the feet of the casket, for their fallen hero.

His face was covered up by make-up, hiding all the scars that he had gotten in the last two years, while he wore a black suit, one that fit his newly dyed black hair.

It seemed like a sick joke, how the fallen boy seemed the most peaceful that anyone else had ever seen him… how it looked as if he was finally resting, after everything that had happened.

Takuya softly raised his hand, as he placed a sunflower underneath it.

On his neck, stood two necklaces, one of them which matched Hinata’s necklace- and the other a family loom that had been left behind by his grandmother, made out of three small rings, a word carved on top of each of them.

On the first one the word ‘ 明夫’ (Akio) , the second one had ‘sunflower’ carved on it, and the last one with a small infinity symbol on top of it.

Hinata placed a gentle kiss on his cheek along with the small ring box that Takemichi had given him while Naoto placed a small letter at the ground on top of the flowers.

Senju put his small wish that he had hang up on the tree, hours before the fight next to him, while Draken placed a small motorcycle-key next to him.

Emma placed another letter on top of the flowers on the ground, along with another white lily.

Inui placed roses one top of the white lilies along with a paper that had the blackdragon’s symbol while Koko laid the uniform that he had been working on top of the still boy, before backing away and going back to his place next to Inui.

The uniform was a royal blue one- one that would have matched his ocean-blue eyes…

It was from back when Koko and him had planning on asking the crybaby to be the leader of the 11th generation… and yet, they had never gotten to do so…

Takuya waited, as Makato, Yamagishi and Akkun walked to the resting boy, and the four of them placed a DVD that they had gotten with their hard work at the sleeping boy’s feet, along with birthday cards which they had drawn. Makato and Yamagishi had gone all out while writing the message on top of each of them, imagining how funny it would be when Takemichi opened them and read them, how much the blonde would laugh, before hugging them and crying like the crybaby he was. They had wanted it to be the best birthday that their little crybaby hero had ever had, but…

Taiju placed his necklace, the one with a cross on top of it, at Takemichi’s abdomen, as he sent a silent prayer towards the young boy who hadn’t been scared to stand in front of him and show him the right way.

No adults showed up to the funeral… only them, and somehow, that made everything worse.

All of them could have said that they had Takemichi, that Takemichi would have always been there for them no matter what. But Takemichi… no matter how much they could argue that Takemichi had also had them, that they would have been there for the blonde, they all knew that it wasn’t really true. Takemichi never really had anyone in his life, not in the way that everyone had him- no, Takemichi had always been alone in some way.

And somehow, the thought of them made them feel even worse.

They stayed, just watching him for a couple of hours, before leaving one by one.

The ex-captains of Toman came together, except for their ex-boss, and Draken.

Each of them left a flower, all of them different, atthe floor next to the casket.

Chifuyu was the last to go, as he placed a photo at the edge of the casket, one that had been taken accidentally… a photo of the division captains of Toman, where Takemichi had been pushed forward and into the frame… All of them had been caught looking at the blonde so fondly… their gazes fond…

After they left, couple people came to pay their respects.

Some classmates, some people who Takemichi and his friends had saved from bullies, Wakasa came once, as did Benkei and Takeomi, but they all left after paying their respects, and they all came at different times.

Hanma came, when the downpour was at it’s worst, soaking wet, as he walked ahead and placed a letter that he had found, which Kisaki had written for Takemichi, before sighing.

“You are a true mystery, Hanagaki…” he murmured at the lying boy, and placed a daffodil and a camellia on the floor. The daffodil, for how much respect he had for the dead boy, and the camellia for Kisaki, who had admired and respected Takemichi.

Kakucho showed up with Izana, who had wanted to come with him while Ran, Rindo and South trailed after them. It was strange, that Kakucho couldn’t remember seeing Takemichi so calm before. He had always been filled with light, had always had been energetic and loud and positive.

He had realised his light had dimmed to a degree at the Tenjiku fight, but hadn’t really thought that much about it. Not then or afterwards. He had been busy, taking care of Izana, taking care of the traitors, and dealing with the Haitani brothers.

But that wasn’t an excuse, was it?

Takemichi had never had a problem with giving them his time, had never shied away from helping anyone- and if even one of them had thought of returning the favor, maybe he wouldn’t be sleeping like this, maybe he could have woke up, maybe, maybe, maybe…

It was useless to think about those things anymore. Because Takemichi was gone, he was dead, and he wasn’t coming back.

Kakucho softly walked to Takemichi’s casket, the boy’s black hair reminding him of the old days. He looked at the things that the others had left, and wished that Takemichi had gotten them when he had been alive, because now- he was never gonna really know how not everything had been in vain, that he had saved so many of them.

He took out a red piece of clothing from his pocket, which had been a part of the crybaby hero’s cape, and gingerly placed it in between his slack fingers.

The half-blind boy let out a soft sigh, as he looked at Takemichi’s necklace, before paying his respects and walking to the back, a bit.

He looked away, as the Haitani brothers placed a drawing at his feet, but felt his eyes tear up as Izana gave South a red suit, and watched as Tenjiku’s red signature jacket, that had been carefully ironed and folded, was placed at the casket’s side.

He wondered if it would have changed anything, if he had asked Takemichi to join them, if he had looked out for him more.

He left the room, not being able to suppress his hiccup’s anymore, as he openly cried, sliding down the wall.

He let them, when Ran and Rindou hugged him, and let himself be vulnerable.

Takemichi, he, he hadn’t deserved any of this, he hadn’t deserved any of this- he had deserved the best, but…

He hadn’t gotten it at the end…

Kazutora was the last person to come, a bitter smile on his face as he did so. He took a look at the things that everyone had left his savior, and gingerly fixed them one by one.

He put them all in a bag, and softly picked up each of the flowers that had been left for the younger boy, and placed them softly inside the casket.

He took in a deep breath, and picked up the letter’s, and placed them at the corner, along with the photo’s that had been left behind.

He picked up the cross necklace on his chest, and gingerly put it aside for the moment.

He picked up the piece of red clothing, and placed it on top of the flowers at the lower edge of the casket.

He gingerly piked up the card’s left by the Takuya, Makato, Akkun and Yamagishi, and placed them next to the letter’s.

He picked the key, and also placed it where had placed the cross necklace.

Kazutora took all the small stuff that had been left behind by those who had ‘cared’ for Takemichi, and placed them aside, before going back to filling the casket with flowers. When he was done, it looked as if the resting boy was swimming in flowers…

He let out another deep breath, before softly placing everything else inside, except the uniforms that had been left behind.

He opened the ring box, and saw the exact same one that Hinata had been wearing at the funeral, and softly put it on Takemichi’s ring finger. He took the two necklaces that had been left behind and put them next to Takemichi’s head.

After putting a couple more things inside, he took in a deep breath, and looked down at Takemichi’s peaceful face.

“I-I’m sorry.” he settled on beginning with, he took in a deep breath, “and- and so thankful to you, y- you idiot.” his voice broke, as he said ‘thankful’ and his eyes started to tear up, his voice no louder than a whisper, “how could you, how could you have trusted me so much?” he raised his hand, and took a hold of the casket’s side, “who leaves all of their stuff to a mere stranger, who leaves all of their money to someone who just recently got out of jail…” he fell down on the ground, his knees hitting the left over white lilies, “How could you be so good till the end, how can you be so understanding, so accepting.”

“I’m so- so sorry, so sorry that I never got to say sorry to you, so sorry for making things harder for you at times, so sorry for all the times that I worried you over the smallest things, I’m so so sorry-” he clenched the casket hard, as tears streamed even faster, “I’m so sorry, for how much we ruined your life, I’m so sorry, for never telling you how grateful I was, how thankful I was for having met someone like you- Michi, you, you changed my life, you changed it in ways you can’t imagine… I’m so so sorry, for never saying this to your face, for never showing you how thankful I was for your company, for your help, how thankful I was that you opened your home to me when no one else would, your heart and let me get better,”

He clenched his eyes shut, and let out a whine, “You, you deserve the most, you deserve everything in this world- I’m sorry, for ever letting go of you…”

I’m sorry, for ever leaving you alone for even a second, for letting you fight your demons all alone… I’m sorry for allowing you to save me, for putting all this burden on you…

“Thank you for being my hero… thank you for everything…”

Somehwere years away from now, a kid named Hanagaki opened their eyes... One last chance.

Final try... but...did he even want it after everyhing that had happened?

Notes:

I FINALLY FINISHED IT!!! YESSSSSSS
for those of you who are wondering how the story might have gone with everyone else;
After ch 7, Akkun went to consult Mikey, and did punch him in his anger.
Senju acted pretty cold towards Benkei and Wakasa, along with her older brother. She also disbanded Brahman. She is pretty much also ignoring Sanzu at the moment.
Since I am ignoring the manga, the scar on Sanzu’s face was inflicted by their dad- and Senju is looking after their dad lately.
Draken also consults Mikey, and pushed himself off his wheelchair, falling on top of the shorter blonde and continuing to punch the blind while screaming at him.
Kazutora was left with all of Takemichi’s stuff and is forever thankful for him. He opens a flower shop, named ‘Akio’ (Takemichi’s grandmother’s last name in my AU) to honor both Take and his grandmother.
Draken has opened a bakery and Emma also works there with him. Draken can walk in the future- and maybe the two can also get married, but it won't happen any time soon.
Mikey is nowhere to be found, and Bonten does not exist.
Sanzu and Takeomi bonded once again, but their sister has sworn that she will never forgive the two of them.
Senju works at a newspaper and lives along with Hinata, not wanting to leave her alone- while also not wanting to be alone either (after her father passes away)
Chifuyu opened a pet shop, and also sometimes goes to Kazutora’s flower shop to help him out.
Smiley and Angry opened a restaurant, along with the Haitani brothers.
Koko has become an attorney, while Inui is also nowhere to be found. The only ones who have his contact information, and check up on him, are Takemichi’s middle school friends and Kazutora.
Kazutora does try and be there for a lot of people, since Takemichi had given him a second chance at life, and thinks that this is the least he could do for his hero.
Izana and Kakucho has adopted twins, two girls and live together. The duo also live with Grandpa Sano, and take care of the bike shop.

That is pretty much all I guess, before Takemichi goes back in time and creates another time line. (there will be a lot of different universe; an universe where Takemichi is a young kid once again, but has given upon everything, an universe where Takemichi wakes up seconds before Baji's death and takes the hit for him, and a couple more that differ much more than Canon.
This chapter had been the first to be written, If I am being honest. Like I had written it and had thought of only posting this right after the first chapter, but ended up changing my mind.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me throughout the whole story, cheering me on, no matter how many times I came close to simply giving up. Hope that the ending was to your liking! (I tried to leave it somewhat sad, and with none of the characters ever being truly happy ever again- since I felt like this would have left a deep mark in their souls. Everything will be happy in the end though! With him traviling back!)

Notes:

Hi everyone! This is my first TR story soo it might not be that good...
I looked this over, but there might still be some mistakes left. I will edit this when I have the time to do so!
[I EDITED IT!!!]
I plan on making this a small series of 'what if' 's.
This will the first part for all of them, but from there it will branch out to new AU's!
(I have a couple in mind already XD)

Thanks for reading! Hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter!!
(´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) sending hugs ~ White

[For my followers who had been waiting for my BNHA stories; I am so sorry for how long I have made you guys wait and how much I have probably disappointed you guys, some things happened a couple months ago, and I just lost my motivation in writing. I have a couple chapters ready for some of my fic's but can't just bring myself to post them.
I plan on (hopefully) returning back after February- since my exams will be finished by then!
I had also been planning on writing this later, but this idea kinda really pumped me up, and I thought that if I work on it I might just be able to get back to writing...(well, I hope it does...)]
