The soft sunlight filtering through the window woke her. She smiled and stretched an arm across the bed.
The space beside her — empty.
Her eyes flew open and she sat up abruptly, her panic quickly turning into curiosity.
“What are you doing?” she asked the man sitting at the foot of the bed with an iPad in his hands. “Capturing memories.”
“A photo?”
“Not exactly,” he said, smiling as he showed her the screen.
There, formed by countless colorful pixels, was a drawing of her.
“It’s beautiful.”
“Not like you,” he said, leaning down to kiss her.
“Good morning, wife.”
