Work Text:

Johnny and Spider-Man are a bit…too close for Sue’s liking.

Spider-Man’s is a very helpful guy. He swings in just when they need him, and is playful but friendly. Sue hadn’t been sure what to think about the masked hero until she met him in person, considering he helped out the Avengers, but also had an entire newspaper pretty much dedicated to convincing the world he was evil.

But after meeting Spidey, Sue was able to confirm that he’s a good guy. Because of this, she had no qualms letting Spidey help on FF missions and become friends with Johnny. Johnny, at only seventeen—almost eighteen, she can hear him complain—didn’t really have that many friends. After the accident, all of their lives got completely upended, and that didn’t leave Johnny with a lot of time for normal teenager stuff. It’s why she was so happy the first time he told her he was going to hang out with Spider-Man that day. It’s why she invited him to stay for dinner after team ups sometimes. It’s why she always smiled when she came into the living room to find Spidey and Johnny playing video games together.

Since he’s never unmasked, Sue can’t say for sure, but based on how he talks and what he talks about, she thinks Spider-Man is in his early to mid twenties. It’s not exactly Johnny’s age, but considering her brother’s only a teenager, she didn’t expect him to make any super friends younger than him.

Sue hasn’t had any problems with Spidey for the two years they’d known him. The problems really only started a couple of months ago.

See, about four months ago, Spidey and Johnny started to get closer. Physically. Whereas before, she’d find them on opposite sides of the couch while playing games, she now finds them sat so they were touching. Sometimes she’d even find Johnny with his legs splayed over Spidey’s lap. She’d walk past Johnny’s room late at night and hear Spider-Man’s voice. And lately, it seemed like Johnny was always on his phone texting Spidey.

She had brought up her concerns with the rest of her family the other night. Reed hadn’t noticed anything, but that was to be expected. Ben, thankfully, agreed that the two were way more touchy recently.

Sue, deciding enough was enough, figured it was time to go and talk with Johnny about this. Maybe she was overthinking this, and Johnny and Spidey were just friends, but had gotten more comfortable after two years of knowing each other.

Or, the Bugle had some truth to it and Spider-Man was taking advantage of her underaged brother.

Of course, she didn’t want that to be the case; she had come to see Spider-Man as another part of her family, and he was Johnny’s best friend. She truly hoped all of this was innocent and she was just worrying, so things could stay the way they were.

“Johnny, can I talk to you about something?” Sue asked as he slowly opened Johnny’s door, peaking through.

“Sue!” Johnny shrieked as she made her presence known, diving across his bed for a shirt, and pulling his sheets in a way that suggested he was probably naked underneath them.

Sue cringed and quickly turned around, before realizing what she just saw. Spinning back around, she looked over at her younger brother and—yep, those were definitely hickey’s. And those were his clothes, strewn about the room.

And that was Spider-Man’s glove on the floor, next to Johnny’s uniform.

Sue stood there, speechless. Johnny stared back at her with absolute panic in his eyes.

“It’s not what it looks like..?” He tried, cringing as he spoke.

“Really? It looks to me like you slept with Spider-Man,” she states, trying to keep herself calm, but instead coming off a bit cold.

“Are…are you mad?” Johnny looks unsure now, his panic edging into something more anxious. He’s looking at her like he’s waiting for her to explode, to say something about—

Oh.

“Johnny, I don’t care that you slept with a guy,” she reassured, softening. To be honest, if she hadn’t noticed Johnny had a thing for guy’s too, she’d be a bad sister. Johnny is pretty obvious in matters of the heart.

Johnny breathes a sigh of relief at her words.

“I am mad that Spider-Man took advantage of my underage brother, however!” Sue’s anger returns in an instant as she remembers the situation. She can’t believe she trusted that man around her brother! She had been too late. How could she put Johnny is danger like this again? She swore she would protect him, after everything, and yet…

“Wait, Sue, I can explain—“

“No, you don’t have to explain anything. This isn’t your fault Johnny,” Sue comforts, already planning out how she was going to murder Spider-Man.

“No, I really think you’re missing something here—“ he continued, but Sue isn’t hearing it.

“Reed!” She yells, leaving her brother’s room. “Where is Spider-Man!? I need to find him, now!”

“Brooklynn Bridge with the Avengers! They’re cleaning up some accident with Chitauri tech that almost destroyed the area,” Reed calls back, much to her pleasure.

“Sue wait!” Johnny calls after her, but she’s got a one track mind right now.

“Suit up! We need to go pay Spider-Man a visit,” she seethes, entering the living room where Reed and Ben are sitting, watching the Avengers on the news.

“Sue? What’s going on—?” Reed questions, but Johnny rushing in stops him.

“Guys! Stop overreacting and let me explain!” Johnny protests. He’s changed, slightly, into his boxers and an oversized t-shirt that is doing nothing to hide the hickey’s covering his neck.

Reed and Ben zone in on the marks immediately. Between those, Johnny’s panic, and Sue’s words, it’s easy for them to figure out what happened.

“Oh hell nah,” Ben declares, standing up in a flash. Reed is right behind him.

“Guy’s! He’s not a pedophile!” Johnny cries, but his words fall on deaf ears, his family’s already out the door and hunting down Spider-Man.

Aka Peter Parker. Aka the seventeen year old.

Johnny takes a moment to wonder how he got himself into this situation—Sue’s lack of knocking—and shoots a text to Spidey, letting him know his family is on their way with pitch forks.

Looking at the news however, Johnny doubts he receive that message.

Sue, Reed, and Ben arrive to the wrecked streets with a vengeance. Reed’s stretching around, trying to find where Spider-Man’s gone this time.

He finds Spidey with some of the other Avengers, standing next to a partially broken building.

Sue gets there first.

Spider-Man notices her in an instant, looking up at her with what’s probably a smile under his mask. “Oh hey Sue, what are you—AH!” Spidey’s words are cut off with a shout as she blasts him into the wall. Hard.

“Woah, woah! Chill out! friendly fire, we’re all on their same team!” Tony Stark shouts back at them, and the Black widow and Hawkeye both draw their weapons to point at her from where they’re standing next to him. Ben and Reed come to back her up right then, making their trio much more intimidating.

“What was that for!?” Spidey shrieks as he claws out of the rubble the blast buried him in.

That, was for sleeping with my seventeen year old brother you pedophile!” She accuses darkly. “and there’s a lot more where that came from.

Spidey freezes, like she assumed he would, but she gets a very…unusual reaction from the three Avengers in their presence.

Tony Stark, for instance, bursts out laughing. Clint and Natasha, usually stone faced assassins, look amused themselves.

Stark walks over and claps a now standing Spider-Man on the shoulder.

“Geez kid, I didn’t realize you had so much game! Ah, this reminds me of the old days…I’ve got a few stories like this,” the man chuckles.

“You’ve also been thrown into walls by your boyfriend’s superpowered older sister?” Spidey asks him a huff.

“Nope! You’re doing great at one-upping me, underoos!”

“Boyfriend?” Reed clocks instantly, glaring down at the superhero’s who apparently don’t seem to even care that one of their own is a predator.

“I-uh…” Spidey stammers, looking at Sue, Ben, and Reed with appropriate fear.

Sue gathers up another blast.

Spider-Man rips off his mask before she can even blink. “I’m not a predator!” He cries. “Johnny is literally older than me!”

Sue’s powers fade in an instant as she stares at the boy in front of her, who’s looking at them in complete horror. His eyes flick between her and Reed and Ben, who are both equally shocked.

“You couldn’t have said anything other than just laughing!?” Sue raged, turning her anger to Tony. She assumed the Avenger’s just didn’t care!

“No way, this just made my month. Seriously kid, I didn’t know you had it in you!” Stark grins, and Spider-Man turns beet red at the mention of his and Johnny’s night together.

“You’re officially a man now Spidey!” Hawkeye tacks on, only furthering the boys embarrassment.

“I’m quitting!” Spider-Man declares, pointing accusatory fingers at the Avengers. Then he turns to the Fantastic Four, turns bright red again, and promptly swings off.

…alright, maybe she overreacted a bit.

“You think!?” Johnny demands once they return home. “I kept trying to tell you but nobody listened!”

“You had time! And you never even told us you and Spider-Man started dating!” Sue complains.

“Because I knew you’d all freak out! It took almost two years to get Spidey to tell me who he was and I didn’t wanna ruin that trust by telling you guys! We said we’d tell you when we were ready, but you can’t knock properly—“

“Oh so this is my fault!?”

“Yes!”

“We should apologize to the kid…” Reed mutters to Ben off to the side.

“Maybe let him try out a calculus problem you think is hard? Is that what nerds like?” Ben recommends.

“Maybe?”

“I hate this family!” Johnny shouts before stomping off dramatically, his hair catching on fire, which only serves to make him cry out in dismay.

Well…that went good, all things considered.

Notes:

Peter very much enjoys the calculus problem Reed lets him look at later lmao.

I’ve been obsessed with these two idiots for months so I had to add my silly thoughts to this godsend of a tag. I hope you guys enjoyed this fun little Drabble that I wrote instead of sleeping! ❤️
