Work Text:
A cat slept, a spider slumbering beside. But something differed, the dark grey pelted sinner dreamt whilst a creamy white archind was sleeping without dreams.
( Husk )
You’re not worth it, you know that? You’re not worth his love - and you never will be, it's merely a matter of time until / he / sees that as well.
A strangled scream tore from a once slumbering demon.
- Beginning -
Husk awoke with a jolt, crisp sheets clung to his chest, sweat the adhesive of which the linen stuck to him. The felines heart tufted ears were flush against his skull, eyes impossibly wide and pupils a pin prick of yellow in a sea of now red rimmed black iris. Once the ripped yowl tapered to an end, a broken sob wrenched itself out of Husks throat - and then, as if on cue a white pelted spider also awoke. Though not for the same reasons as the cat adjacent to him.
" Husky? " Angel mumbled, sleep still clinging to him.
The spider rubbed his two visible, hetrochromic eyes, head turning to face the one next to him. Through this time, Husk had scrambled into a firmer seated position - legs pulled close, ears still flat against his head. His arms wrapped around his legs, sharp claws digging against his fur, though surprisingly not enough to pierce the skin. The felines pelt stuck up in uneven tufts, wings encased inwards - as if hugging a friend. His tail curled around the base of his posture, the feathered tip flicking backwards then forwards in irregular flicks.
" Husky, sweets - you good there? " Angel Dust asked, this time much less sleep induced.
Husks pupils darted towards the lightly coloured demon to whom the question came from. Despite the lack of words, or sounds, that came from the felines jaws to suggest he’d heard Angels words, Husk scuttled back further, silver crowding at the corners of his eyes, threatening to spill downwards.
Husks POV:
' Not worth it. Not worth the love ( and worry ) shining through Angel Dust eyes. ' The thought pounded through Husk. The cat yearned to fling himself into his boyfriends comforting hold, to feel those lanky arms wrap firmly around him shaking, tremoring frame. To hold him, to soothe him. . .
Husks POV end:
" Ang - a - Angel? " came a broken rasp.
Husks nightmares were fading out, they came much less often than they had. But despite this, Angel had learnt to tell them apart. A open maw would more than likely mean a nightmare conisitnsting of a fight, often a result from Alastor’s treatment. Fluffed fur and unseeing eyes suggested a relived memory, but this? This, with wide fearful eyes, fur spiked, wings and tail wrapping around like extra limbs this was one that Angel himself understood ever so well. Both sinners had been hurt in the past, and present and would continue to be thanks to their soul deals. Love and comfort was something forgeim to them both, something previously used as a weapon against them, so learning that it could come from a genuine place of care? That was hard and took time, it took a building of trust. Angel might not fully know what had, this time, cast his beloved Husk into this state, but he knew enough.
" Come here darlin' " the spider whispered, voice slightly rougher from sleep.
With jagged and sloppy movements, Husk slowly inched forward, body still in a battle between fight or flight. The cats ears were still flat, though his fur was less spiked, his forearms tucked close to his chest once he'd curled himself in his awaiting archinds multiple arms. Angel rested his chin atop Husks head, right between his unfurling ears. The spiders embrace was firm but not enough to feel a sense of trapped. Two of his hands combed through dark grey fur – nearly black, and running soothing shapes along and over the exposed pelt of the cat, whispering sweet nothings into the lightly scented air.
Small rasped sobs came from his curled position, Angel could feel tears moist against his own chest fluff, but he made no move to stop it.
“ Shhh, your okay,” He murmured instead, rocking them both backwards and forwards gently.
“What was it this time, baby?” Angel asked quietly, it didn’t matter if Husk answered his question or not, sometimes just the voice of another was a grounding thing.
Husk eventually relaxed further into Angels’ arms, breath smoothing out into proper intakes and exhales, a quite string of a purr starting up soon after husk had fully sunk into the comfort.
They stayed like that throughout the night, angel knew he could move them to lie down but he couldn't bring himself to awake his Husky for even a moment, thought admittedly he did slowly move both of them so his own back could be braced against the fluffed pillows and headboard of his luxurious bed.
The spider dozed, much less deeper than the cat, but when a sparkle of red light dazzled Angel even behind his eyes lids, he opened them. Lashes fluttering as they moved upwards. Opening his own jaws, the spider took a deep yawn, body tensing them relalzing satsiely with the movement. On instsince, Angel held Husk a little tigher, surveing their position and then the sun blinking through his lacey curtains. Angel lifted a hand, gently patting the cat in his embrace – Husk didn’t stir, he was in a deep and hopefully blissful sleep.
“ Knock knockkkkk,”
Came a loud chirp, the voice not even waiting to finish their words before swingning open the door. Angel, didn’t move. Monetrily stunned at the brazen-ness, it had only gone dawn! But wait – a small head bobbed into view, topped with a vibrant hue of red hair – very faimalir red hair. . .
“ Nift? “ Angel asked into the air, what the hell was the time. . . the Hotel’s house keeper was under firm rules / not / to enter rooms without knocking, and not to enter before the hell light was well high in the sky. High in the sky – damn, had they really slept that long? The spider leaned back, mulling over that fact, he didn’t have anywhere to be ( thank whatvere god still listened down here ) Val****o had a deep cleaning or something planned for the studio. Angel didn’t care really, it meant that - he was pereiced from his thoughts as Nifty lept rather expertly upon to his bed, causing the mattress to dip and the spider to wonder how many times she’d done it before.
“ Oh – hey Angel! Ah! And Huskkkk!” The little sinner exclaimed happily, though she didn’t move forwards, just kept a rather unsettling level of eye concat with the spider.
Somehow ( Angel wanted tips ) Husk had managed to stay asleep until that point. First his ears shot upwards and then he partically scrambled out of the grip of his white furred boyfriend, promptly sitting upwards – wings flung out. Thankflully the flappers didn’t hit, knock or jostle anything.
“Whiskas’ ” Angel chuckled lightly, moving back to stay out of the way of the feathered wings. Nifty must’ve fled the scene, if a feminine giggle and then firmly shut door were anything to go by. Husk had heard it to, head wipping to the sound, the yellow bands within his eyes back to a much healthier size.
" Huskyyy, " Angel tried again, waving a hand to catch the attention of the feline. Taking in his surroundings, Husk seemed to come back to the present, to right now. The cat crawled back into the awaiting embrace of his lover, tail curling around them both before flitting away. It seemed to play with itself and whilst winding around the pair.
" How'd you sleep, baby? "
Husk contemplated the reply before answering, gaze dead ahead as if he could see something the spider could not.
" Angel, you deserve so much more than I can ever give you. I know that, I know your so much more than I'd ever deserve. " At that black eyes shuttered, " But I will spend my afterlife trying to be - " The cat was cut off.
" Husk. " Angel didn't often call the demon by his name, normally opting for little nicknames instead. His name on the tongue of the other caused Husk to turn his line of sight,
" I don't know how you think so low of yourself, and so high of me. Ya deserve much, much more than you think you do. And maybe I do to, but together well figure it out. Together, cause we're losers baby! " Husk might not see the point of view of the spider, the feline was still firm on the believe that he was punching / way / above his weight with Angel.
Cuddles and warmth ensues, purring and sweet words murmured to each other in both a mixture of pink fairy lights and a red light that was hells cheap inmatation of the sun.
- The End -
