The child who survived: The hidden truth

Summary:

For as long as Harry could remember, he hadn't been able to see—or at least, not fully. He could make out the silhouettes of people and objects, but nothing more; it was as if everything were a crisp, blank sketch. He could do things some blind people couldn't—like recognizing someone by their silhouette or walking without fear of falling—but he could never appreciate the beauty of a landscape, a person, or even a simple book. He knew it wasn't the worst fate—there were people even more blind than he was—but he wanted to see more; he wanted to be more.

He had always known he was strange because of this, but upon discovering that magic actually existed—and that he was a powerful wizard—the only thing he could wonder was why he was so odd.

He also wondered why people couldn't stop asking him what had happened to him.

Technically, this is an AU where Harry Potter can only see people's auras, meaning everything else appears as simple, blank silhouettes he can never quite identify. Many things change—Houses, bonds, and even people and ideals.

Join Harry as he becomes one of the greatest wizards, and follow the teachers struggling to instruct this young man who is so hungry for knowledge.

Chapter 1: The Boy Who Survived / The Glass That Vanished / Letters from Nobody

Chapter Text

Silence reigned on Privet Drive, for it was well past midnight. Today was a special day; today, You-Know-Who had finally been defeated. Wizards everywhere were celebrating the event—some even shouting the news to the four winds, heedless of the Muggles who watched them in bewilderment. Not knowing who these madfolk were talking about or why they were so happy, the Muggles simply chose to ignore them.

Yet, while the majority of the wizarding community rejoiced at the news, one baby had been left alone and abandoned as a result of the very events being celebrated.

Meanwhile, a man walked slowly down that quiet street. He was a truly peculiar figure, clad in purple robes and a tall hat; he had a long nose and silver hair and beard—hair so long, in fact, that his beard reached well below his chest.

The man wore a look of happiness, mirroring that of his people, and his smile widened when he spotted a cat staring intently at him.

"A pleasure to see you, McGonagall," the man said to the cat. To an observer, he might have seemed stark raving mad, but in the blink of an eye, the cat transformed.

"A pleasure for me too, Albus," the woman said, smiling kindly at him. Suddenly, however, the sound of approaching footsteps made her turn to see who was coming; upon recognizing the newcomer, her friendly expression vanished. "Severus. I wasn't expecting you."

A man much younger than the other two emerged from the shadows; he was tall, with straight black hair reaching his shoulders and clad in a black robe. Like the woman, he did not look happy to be there.

In fact, if one looked closely, one would notice the man's red, teary eyes.

"Minerva, I didn't expect this either." The man—known as Severus—crossed his arms and looked at the two people before him. Feeling a twinge of unfamiliar nervousness, he asked, "I have to ask, Albus: are you sure about leaving him here?" He couldn't help but eye the house warily, knowing who lived there.

"It is the safest course, Severus; otherwise, Lily's sacrifice would be in vain." At that, Severus fell silent.

Minerva was the next to speak.

"Hagrid is taking a long time," the woman said, sounding somewhat impatient. Albus simply chuckled before replying.

"Our good friend will be here soon; do not worry." And, as if summoned, the three of them watched as a flying motorcycle descended from the air, carrying a man who stood easily two meters tall. "You see? He has arrived."

The burly man named Hagrid smiled and bowed to the old man, while simply nodding in greeting to the other two.

"My good friend, have you brought him?" Albus asked the large man, who quickly returned to the motorcycle and retrieved a small bundle, holding it securely in his hand.

"I found him in the ruins; he was terrified. I took him away before the Muggles arrived. He fell asleep on the way." He carefully handed the bundle to Albus, who took the child into his arms with a smile. Both Minerva and Severus stepped closer to look, though the latter appeared utterly devastated.

He carefully unwrapped the baby from the blanket; there he was—Harry Potter, the Chosen One. He was a toddler, just over a year old, with pale skin and a mop of black hair—the spitting image of his father, Severus noted.

"Does he have it?" Minerva asked nervously. Albus nodded and gently lifted Harry's hair, revealing a lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. It stretched from his hairline down to the middle of his forehead; it looked painful, glowing raw and angry. Severus couldn't help but think of the agony it must have caused.

"So, he is..." Minerva turned to Albus with a hint of happiness. Both of them ignored the baby, failing to notice that he had slightly opened his eyes, searching for someone.

Unlike his companions, Severus studied the baby more closely than his heart could comfortably bear; the moment the baby opened his eyes, Severus found it hard to breathe.

They were *her* eyes.

Upon seeing the man staring directly at him, the baby froze—before, to everyone's surprise, letting out a happy squeal and reaching out his arms. Severus froze in response.

Everyone else was startled upon hearing the baby’s shrill cry; Albus quickly approached the Dursley home—the only family the boy had left.

He carefully set him down on the cold floor of the entryway—something the baby did not like, as he began to cry and kick; he was desperate, distressed, and terrified of being left alone.

Both Hagrid and Severus felt their hearts ache at the scene, especially when Severus noticed the baby turn to look at him and cry even harder, calling out to him.

"We have to go." Albus approached him and took him by the arm; he went pale for some reason before simply nodding and following the man, slipping away from the spot before the boy's family could come out.

And so began the story of Harry Potter, the Chosen One.

—Up! Get up! Now! - A fair-haired, light-skinned boy came running down the stairs, stomping heavily; he even paused and used the banister to launch himself, ensuring his footsteps rang out loudly.

You might wonder why he was doing that; the reason was simple: he wanted to wake up his cousin Harry Potter—a boy who had been shoved into the cupboard under the stairs. It was a space far too small for an eleven-year-old; one would assume a boy that age wouldn't fit, but Harry—unlike his cousin—was quite small and thin.

"Wake up!" his cousin shouted again, and Harry jolted awake in bed. Thank goodness the heavy stomping stopped, replaced by the sound of quick footsteps heading back upstairs—presumably to where his cousin would wait for the signal to come down and surprise him.

Before he could even calm down, more banging started, though this time it came from the door.

"Up, boy! It’s Dudley’s birthday, and he wants eggs and bacon!" Aunt Petunia shouted from the doorway before vanishing—likely to check on her son's gifts. That was a given; today, no one mattered more than his cousin Dudley—as if that weren't the case every other day of the year.

He rubbed his eyes, trying to shake off the grogginess; he still felt a bit dizzy from the sudden noise that had roused him. Before he could even make an effort to blindly—literally—search for his socks, his door was yanked open.

He looked up, trying to make out the figure, and upon seeing the only slender person in the house besides himself, he knew it was his aunt; before he could even speak, the woman’s long arm reached out and gripped his shoulder so hard he felt her fingernails digging into the bone.

"Hurry! It’s Dudley’s birthday—it has to be perfect!" she shouted into his ear as she shoved him toward the kitchen, where he could already smell the grease. "Cook!" —he shouted before turning away to leave.

He sighed as he looked for the now-familiar outlines of things.

"What did you say?" his aunt asked suddenly; realizing she was referring to the sigh, he played dumb.

"Nothing," he said curtly and somewhat nervously. He heard his aunt’s heels approach him, and she spoke right in his ear:

"Don't you dare burn the bacon, or you won't get lunch," she said furiously before walking away—and, judging by the sound, heading up the stairs.

This time, he waited a moment before sighing and looking for those familiar shapes. Aunt Petunia had been kind enough to leave both the bacon and the eggs on the counter, so he didn't have to try to guess where they were.

With practiced movements, he fried the bacon over low heat so it would brown just the way his cousin loved it. While listening to the meat's natural oils sizzle, he turned to grab the eggs and another frying pan; cooking the bacon first and then the eggs would take too long, and he knew time was the one thing he didn't have much of right now.

Although cooking had initially been a difficult task for him—one that earned him many beatings from Uncle Vernon and insults from Aunt Petunia—over time he had grown fond of it. It was one of the few activities he was allowed to do, so he couldn't bring himself to hate it.

Besides, maybe someday he’d finally be able to put something in the food that would kill the whole family.

He was taking the bacon out of the pan—hearing and smelling that it was perfectly cooked—when he heard footsteps again, signaling that they were coming downstairs.

He sighed with a touch of happiness, remembering that he would be staying with Mrs. Figg today since the family was going out; at least for today, he wouldn't have to endure insults or blows.

His Uncle Vernon was the first to enter; he knew it was him because, upon turning, he saw a silhouette filling almost the entire doorway, accompanied by that cheap cologne smell he hated—

—the very scent his uncle insisted on wearing.

He didn't need to see his uncle's face to know that, the moment he laid eyes on him, the man would look annoyed before stepping closer and grabbing him by the hair.

"Comb your hair!" his uncle shouted right in his face before shoving him away so hard he banged against a cupboard; he immediately clutched his head, trying to soothe the pain.

After his uncle, his cousin and aunt arrived; hearing his cousin’s excited, breathless panting, he knew the boy was happy.

His aunt was pointing toward a large table where he knew birthday gifts were waiting—gifts he would never receive or even get to see.

Judging by their silhouettes, they were large presents; he even suspected they might have bought the laptop he wanted so badly.

"What do you think, son?" his aunt asked happily. Hearing a chair being dragged away from the table, he realized someone was already waiting for breakfast; he turned and, seeing his uncle’s portly silhouette seated there, approached with what he judged to be a reasonable portion.

He carefully placed the food in front of the man, making sure not to dirty or knock over any of the gifts. His uncle, naturally, didn't thank him and merely clicked his tongue. He carefully went back to get the food for his aunt and cousin; neither said a word, as his aunt was too busy waiting for her "little angel's" reaction, and his cousin was too occupied counting the gifts on the table.

He obviously made no effort to sit at the table; instead, he stayed in the kitchen dining area, eating an amount of food he knew was meager—yet the maximum he was allowed to have.

"That’s thirty-six presents—two fewer than last year," his cousin said angrily. He glanced over, expecting his cousin to throw something in his rage, but before he could even try, his aunt spoke up.

"You’re forgetting Aunt Marge’s gift, darling; it’s underneath Mom and Dad’s," his aunt said quickly, gesturing toward the pile. He made no attempt to turn and look at what she had given him, as he would only see the outline of the wrapped package.

"That makes thirty-seven," Dudley said, still angry. He watched as his cousin picked up what looked like a gift—judging by the shape—and prepared to throw it, but his mother stopped him.

"We’ll buy you two more when we go out! How does that sound, my boy?" she said nervously, slowly taking the gift from him. He guessed it was something expensive—maybe a new game console or something similar.

"That would make thirty..." His cousin fell silent, trying to do the math. He was on the verge of saying the answer aloud but knew it would get him into trouble, so he kept quiet; it was his aunt who answered.

"Thirty-nine, sweetheart," she said in a sweet tone—the kind he had obviously never received himself. His cousin let out a happy sigh and sat down to eat, just like his aunt. The family began chatting about their plans for the day; he ignored them and kept eating.

He watched happily; unlike everyone else he had met—though that wasn't many people—this person didn't have a stark, lifeless white aura. His body radiated a vibrant green; he could even see the color glowing and appearing to shift.

He had always wondered why the boy looked that way. Perhaps he was just imagining the color to stave off boredom, but that wouldn't explain why no one else... ...had color or a shine—perhaps it was some sort of phenomenon.

The ringing of the house phone caught their attention, and his aunt went to answer it; Dudley finished his breakfast in one gulp and rushed to open his gifts. His uncle and he watched him open them—or, technically, only his uncle did; he tried to guess what the items were from their silhouettes before his cousin shouted out the name of the gift—it was fun.

That fun vanished, however, when his aunt returned and spoke to her husband in an annoyed tone.

"Bad news, Vernon; Mrs. Figg broke her leg," Petunia said, as if the woman had chosen to do so. Both Vernon and the boy sighed in frustration—though the boy kept his sigh internal, knowing that daring to object would earn him a solid smack at the very least. "What do we do with *him*?" she asked her husband; judging by the slight tilt of her head, she was pointing at him, and the angry tone of her voice suggested she was glaring at him.

"Lock him in the cupboard all day," his uncle said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. He couldn't exactly say he disliked the idea; he had spent months locked in there before, leaving only to use the bathroom or do his chores.

"And have him find a way to break out and wander the house? Not a chance," Petunia scoffed. He just rolled his eyes—right, as if a blind boy would surely find a way out. "We could take him along and lock him in the car," his aunt suggested, walking back to the table to finish her lunch.

"The car is brand new, and besides, passersby would see him. He’ll have to come to the zoo with us," Vernon said irritably, though he seemed to chuckle at the end. Now the boy wondered if his uncle was thinking about tossing him into an animal enclosure just to get rid of him.

Upon hearing this, Dudley started to cry—or at least pretended to—and his mother immediately began to comfort him. Knowing his cousin, he was almost certainly gloating, so the boy turned away, pretending not to notice.

"Don't you worry, my darling; that *thing* isn't going to ruin your day!" she said, speaking as if he weren't even there—though he was used to it by now. "Let's get you spruced up, sweetie; you need to look handsome for your photos," his aunt said happily as she rose from the table. He immediately gathered the family's dirty plates.

Moving with practiced ease, he approached the sink to wash the dishes, trying to hurry so he would have time to change his clothes; he was currently wearing... ...his pajamas, and he knew his uncles were capable of taking him out just like that.

He had barely picked up the sponge when he heard a chair scrape across the floor and his uncle’s heavy footsteps approaching; grimly determined, he kept washing the dishes and didn't even flinch when two large hands settled onto his shoulders.

"Don't you dare ruin this, freak; if you pull anything, I'll have to punish you." His uncle leaned down to whisper directly against his neck; he tried not to shudder, knowing that was exactly the reaction his uncle wanted. Seeing him simply nod in silence, he followed his family.

On second thought, it wouldn't be so bad if his uncle shoved him into an enclosure—he could just wait for the attendant to get distracted and jump in himself.

Half an hour later, he was sitting in the back seat next to his cousin. Getting his cousin to agree to come along had been a chaotic affair; the boy had even suggested he ride in the trunk—an idea his parents actually considered until a neighbor came out to investigate the noise Dudley was making, prompting them to quickly shove the boys into the car.

The ride was incredibly awkward; his cousin wouldn't speak to anyone, annoyed by his presence, while his aunt and uncle chatted with each other. He simply remained silent, focusing on the sounds around him.

One advantage of being blind is that relying on your other senses sharpens them; even so, he kept his eyes open, gazing out what he assumed—based on the shape—was the window. They were moving too fast for him to make out anything specific, save for the silhouettes of what he took to be buildings.

However, he did manage to spot someone on the street who was glowing a much more intense pink than his own aura—a large figure that was impossible to ignore.

Why were they glowing? He thought he was the only one, so seeing someone else just like him threw him off—so much so that he didn't even notice they had arrived until he heard his aunt, uncle, and cousin getting out of the car.

He quickly got out so he wouldn't lose sight of them. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday, so the zoo was packed; he had to stay right next to his aunt to avoid getting lost—because if he did get lost, he was certain no one would come looking for him.

At what he took to be the entrance—judging by the silhouette of an archway—the family stopped at a cart; the blast of cold air he felt as they approached made him guess it was an ice cream cart.

"Good morning, family! What can I get you?" the woman at the cart asked gently. He didn't answer, knowing they wouldn't buy anything for him. His cousin, on the other hand, started asking for a cone with four scoops of chocolate; he was tempted to point out that it would probably fall, but he decided to keep quiet.

His uncle ordered the same thing as his son—he really wished he could see the moment it dropped—while his aunt was more reserved and just ordered a cone with a single scoop of vanilla.

"And what would you like, sweetie?" the woman asked. He was startled, not quite knowing what to say; he knew that if he asked his uncle for permission, the woman would give his uncle a strange look—causing trouble—but he couldn't just play the mute, either.

But before he could say anything, his uncle spoke up.

"He's sick—you know how kids are!" He flinched when his uncle pulled him into a hug; the woman just laughed and started handing out the ice creams.

It wasn't until they were out of the woman's sight that his uncle released him from the hug, though his hand remained on his shoulder.

"Because of you, I have to keep you close; otherwise, people would wonder what a blind kid is doing without help." He shrank back at Vernon's clearly annoyed tone, though inwardly he was grateful for the gesture, as it meant he wouldn't get lost.

All in all, the zoo visit went okay; his cousin didn't bother him at all, and his uncle never dragged him too close to the safety barriers—the kind of spot where one might get shoved into an enclosure. It was a bit boring, though; when you can't see the animals, there isn't much to keep you entertained. Plus, the place reeked of the animals themselves and their droppings, and the noise—from both animals and humans—was overwhelming.

One saving grace was that he could try to guess what an animal looked like based solely on its silhouette.

There was also the incident at the zoo restaurant: his cousin made a scene because his sandwich was too small, so his father bought him a triple-decker to make up for it. The upside was that he was allowed to eat the first one—something he thoroughly enjoyed, as it was packed with the kind of meat his cousin loved so much.

When they reached the snake exhibit, his uncle finally let go of him; there weren't as many people there, and the space was smaller than the other enclosures. He even felt safe, knowing there was no risk of being thrown in with the snakes.

He peered curiously at what little he could make out; it was hard to discern the shapes of the snakes. He had faint memories of what they looked like from back when he could see, but that had been years ago. It didn't help that the area was kept somewhat dark so as not to disturb the reptiles.

Still, he couldn't... He couldn't help but notice that, for some reason, some of the snakes were glowing a dark green; this both puzzled and pleased him, as it meant he could actually see the animals a little.

He moved closer to a snake that glowed more intensely than the others—so brightly, in fact, that its scales seemed to be formed of light itself. Filled with wonder and curiosity, he stepped nearer, but when he bumped into something, he remembered there was a pane of glass in the way. Embarrassed, he glanced around to see if anyone was nearby; fortunately, no one had seen him—or so he thought.

He kept watching the snake, observing how it shimmered in his clear vision—glowing a dark green, yet accented with earthy tones and black, forming a pattern he thought resembled his own skin.

He scanned the area where the snake lay and noticed six small eggs; judging by their shapes, five had already hatched, leaving only one still intact. He looked for the hatchlings and was surprised to see them near their mother, glowing with that same hue.

But what really caught his eye was the unbroken egg, which glowed a brilliant white. Confused, he wondered why it was white when the mother and siblings were green.

Before he could ponder this further, his cousin and uncle approached.

"Dad, tell it to move," Dudley said to his father. He couldn't help but turn to look at them, wondering if the boy was actually serious.

"Wake up!" his uncle shouted, tapping on the glass, but the snake didn't budge. He tried not to laugh; they actually thought it would listen to them.

"Try again." He had to fake a yawn to cover his mouth and hide his laughter. They didn't notice, and it wasn't until they turned away, bored, that he finally let himself laugh.

He looked back at the snake and noticed its offspring had hidden away because of the noise; without knowing why, he instinctively apologized.

"I'm sorry; they can be a real pain," he said, as if the snake could understand him.

But then, the snake uncoiled, opening its eyes and rising up until it was eye-level with him. He gasped as he looked at it.

He could see it clearly; its yellow eyes were glowing too, allowing him to see the creature in full detail.

He instinctively looked around, thinking he had regained his sight, but was deeply disappointed to find that everything remained a blur of shapes.

"It happens to me all the time; I'm used to it," a sweet voice said. He immediately turned toward the snake, but instead of being frightened, he kept talking.

"I understand," he said sadly, approaching the glass with his hands raised. "Where are you from?" he asked, wanting to keep the conversation going.

But the snake didn't answer; instead, it pointed to a rectangular plaque on the wall—presumably the one displaying information about the snake.

He was about to say he couldn't read it, but upon getting closer, he realized the text was also in Braille. Delighted, he moved in to read it and saw that the snake came primarily from Southeast Asia—places like Indonesia.

"Indonesia... is it nice there?" He turned to look at the snake, which shook its head. It pointed back at the sign, so he continued reading.

*Captive-bred*, it said.

"I've been here my whole life; I don't know anyone or anything else," the snake said sadly. Surprised by this, he sighed.

"I don't know anyone either—not even my parents," he said, suddenly feeling sad. The snake moved closer, but then someone shouted.

"Dad, look!" his cousin Dudley suddenly yelled. Dudley rushed over to the snake exhibit and easily shoved him to the ground.

Annoyed, he turned to look at his cousin, who was now pestering the snake. As he leaned heavily against the glass, he wished it would disappear.

And in the blink of an eye, Dudley fell into the enclosure.

He gasped in surprise, clearly remembering that there had been a pane of glass there—one he had wished away.

Then, slowly, the snake—along with the other five—slithered out from where they had been; the snake carried the unhatched egg with it. He watched in astonishment as the snake placed the egg in his lap.

"Thank you, little one; take care of it." With that, the snake and the smaller ones quickly left the area—or so he gathered, seeing the glow of the creatures fade away.

He picked up the egg with trembling hands before hiding it in his pocket, knowing full well they would try to take it from him.

"AAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Aunt Petunia’s scream startled him. He turned toward the sound and saw his cousin screaming on the other side of the glass; both his aunt and uncle were trying to break through it. He couldn't see their expressions, but he could imagine them—desperate and terrified. His cousin was crying out of genuine fear, and the crowd was pulling out devices—presumably cell phones—to record the scene.

He hadn't wanted this to happen.

As suddenly as the first time, the glass vanished; fortunately, this time his mother caught Dudley before he could fall.

He was just getting to his feet when Uncle Vernon grabbed him by the arm and dragged him toward the exit, following his terrified, weeping cousin.

Upon arriving home, Harry knew one thing immediately: it was going to hurt.

They hauled him forcibly from the car, grabbing him by the hair and dragging him all the way up the path and back into the house. He had to endure the pain, knowing that Uncle Vernon would only get angrier if he resisted.

The moment he was shoved inside the house, he stood up and tried to explain himself.

-Dude, I swear I didn't do anything!- he shouted but the only thing he received was a punch that made him hit the wall, losing his balance and falling

-I WARNED YOU SNOT OF THE DEVIL!- His uncle shouted and he recognized the sound of his uncle's belt unbuttoning, he immediately clung to his shirt but it didn't help since they tore it off with one go

With fear, he turns to see his uncle, hoping that they would snatch another garment but instead he receives the belt buckle directly to his eye, in pain he presses his hand on it to try to relieve the pain, when he opens it I notice that in that eye he can no longer see anything, not even the silhouettes and sharp environment, even so he was not scared knowing that later it would be removed

The leather crashed on his back so hard that he couldn't help but scream, he barely had time to take a breath before another dozen of them followed him

The first three were bearable, he just felt his skin turn red so he could keep quiet

Number six had to bite his lip so as not to let out a moan, he knew that that would leave ugly bruises on his back

At number ten he began to sob when he felt something hot running down his back, his blood

He didn't stop on the twelve but until the 30th blow, he was shaking with pain on the floor, trying to get some air to compose himself

They took him by the hair again but this time they threw him into the cupboard

-YOU'RE PUNISHED!- His uncle shouted before closing the door

Stunned he got up from his bed, he had fallen on his back so the wounds received the impact, he, scared, tried to bring his hands to his back but the simple movement causes him great agony

Crawling, he settled in his bed, turning his back to the door

He could hear the family shouting about what happened with the snakes, which reminded him of a thing

-The egg...- scared that his uncle had broken it he looked in his pants but instead of feeling the shell he felt something wrap around his finger

Scared I took it out little by little, noticing how it was something alive and hot to his touch

She was an albino reticulated Python, she knew it since like her mother she could see her, only that he shone white and her eyes were red

She was a newborn so she had a lost look, looking for her mother, he put her in front of her, waiting to see something but as soon as the snake saw it threw itself at him, settling on his neck

At first he was surprised but the sudden touch was enough to relax him, he carefully lay down so as not to hurt both the snake and the

It will be a long time, but at least I would have company, just hope they don't find the snake

He really doesn't know how long he was in his "room" but when he left it was already summer vacation, he's sure that the only reason they took him out of the cupboard is that they occupied someone else doing the housework, all the time he spent he was locked up he only listened to his aunt complaining about everything he did for the family for the next act turning on the vacuum cleaner, something that he didn't know they allowed since they said he didn't deserve the easy way

He was somewhat happy to go out, being in the dark for so long affected him, although he did not see at least he had the comforting clarity of the places, in that place he had nothing, he was guided by the brightness that he and the snake had and unfortunately of the other senses that he kept which was not the best, he swore that the damp aroma was already engraved in his lungs

And the worst thing was hunger, if he was loose they threw him a Sandwich with a single ham and a bottle of water for the whole day but most days they were the bread edges of his cousin's lunch for the whole day, he was desperate for food but not for him but for the little snake

On the good days he gave the ham to the little one hoping that it would be enough for her, only for this time he thanks the rats that then sneaked into the crack through which little air entered the warehouse, at least the little one could eat, he knew how to endure hunger

Unfortunately, the day he came out was not good at all

He discovered that his aunt and cousin had gone out to London to share Dudley's uniform, from what little I hear his aunt wanted to leave it with Mrs. Fingg but Uncle Vernon refused and stayed to take care of him

Of course, the last thing he did was take care of him

As soon as Aunt Petunia left the house she heard how Vernon closed the door by force before heading to the warehouse, instinctively tried to drag her to the deepest part, where the spiders were and also the nest she made to the snake with the few clothes she had

Although hiding didn't help much since I heard how he managed to open his door and immediately felt how Vernon took him by the foot and forced him to leave, he immediately tried to take something but given the darkness he did not differentiate the silhouette of each thing and could not take anything in time

They threw him into the living room as if he were a rag doll, desperate he tried to focus, looking for where his attacker was or where exactly he threw him, for his bad luck there was so much lighting that stunned him, he did not differentiate the silhouette of anything, nor of Vernon who now knew that he was behind him since he felt a hand on the back of his neck that forced him to stick to the ground, unable to get up

Desperate he tried to find anything on the ground to defend himself but Vernon took his two wrists and put them together behind his back, followed by that I already heard the similar sound of when he took off his belt, already trained I waited for the impact of the buckle on his skin but instead he felt how he tied his wrists to his back with that thing

Then the sound of a closure going down froze him and his attempts to escape ceased, knowing that if he tried something else it would be worse

What he hates most about depending on all his other senses is that it is too difficult for him to disconnect, he tries to concentrate on something but only sees sharp silhouettes that do not help at all since nothing helps him disconnect, the noise is the worst, he can never completely silence the noise, he can hide it with something else but it does not always help since in the end he ends up returning

Having his hands free is what helps the most, he can touch something that helps him think about it, it doesn't matter what it is, the cold tiles of the tub, the floor of the living room, the dining room table, the window that he knows it gives the patio, all that helps to distract him, feeling the consistency of everything helps, it helps him disconnect, but sometimes, what helps him the most is when while everything happens he scratches until he bleeds which causes him great pain and therefore distraction

But he can't do any of that

So when he feels big hands run through his body, he alters him, knowing that he is coming and knowing that he cannot be distracted

He tries to turn around to at least concentrate on his Uncle's big silhouette but a blow to the eye forces him to look back at the ground where the only thing he sees are clear white colors

White

I had almost forgotten that in all this time I had not chosen a name, I did not know many and in his books in Braille there were not so many exotic names, but it sounds something that can help

The cold air of the place hits his body when he is stripped of his pants and underwear

Well, the snake was going to be big and beautiful, so he had to look for something worthy of him, there were many things and he was afraid of not finding the right one and that the little snake would get angry with him

From the snake's voice he deduced that he was male, so he had to look for a boy's name, the snake will get angry with him if he gives him a girl's name

He could try with a mythological name, he had once heard about a monster called Scylla, a giant six-headed sea monster belonging to the stories of the Odyssey, he liked the name but he remembers that they told him that before being a monster it was a beautiful Nymph, which would mean that it is a girl's name, maybe he doesn't realize

Well, he knows that the snake is curious that he will realize sooner or later

They grope him at will and he moans in pain when he feels something enter him and turn around, a finger

So it's discarded, the name basilisk caught his attention, I heard it in a movie and from what they told him it was a huge snake, that would be fine but it was a killer monster and he doesn't know if his snake would take it well, given that the name Diablo and Asmodeo are discarded for their biblical meaning

There were those strange Mexican names that meant big snake but the truth is he can't even remember it and he knows he can't pronounce it

He growls in pain when he feels how he is introduced, he doesn't wait for him to get used to it and starts ramming

Perhaps, instead of thinking of a name already invented, one can be invented

Well, that will be complicated

I looked in his head what this little girl meant to him, she was the first friend he had, she kept her company, talked to her and not only that, but she promised that when she was old enough she would hide in her neck and she would tell her everything, it would be her eyes

His eyes...

He didn't know much about other languages, there was no way to learn but remember that before he was completely blind his aunt forced him to learn some French, he was supposed to finally have some class, obviously it didn't help at all

And although remember, in French regarder meant to look

Something I could do with the little one

I smiled when I finally had the name, I was happy that he didn't even remember what followed by that, just remembered that he finished, he went up to take a shower and returned to the cupboard, at the exact moment where his aunt and cousin arrived, I heard that they were talking about the uniform but he was so tired that he didn't make an effort to get up, besides they didn't want him there, he knew that well

He curls up in his bed to try to relieve the pain in his wrists, he feels that they throb and knows that they are surely bleeding, he lets some of the shine in his body flow to his wrists and immediately feels a tingling sensation in the area instead of pain, he is even about to laugh since it tickles him but he knows that if he does that he will go very badly, he decides to keep quiet

-Harry, what happened?- a soft voice sounds in the depths of the warehouse and immediately remembers the little snake

He turns to see the only light in the room and smiles, affectionately takes her in his arms and sleeps with the

-Nothing special, just a punishment from my uncle- he answers with a smile on his lips but the snake doesn't say anything, as if he thought -By the way, I already have a name for you, it's Regarder, it means look- a small laugh escapes him, he hopes it wasn't strong enough for them to hear it

But the seconds pass and the conversation in the kitchen continues, it is allowed to relax

-It's a perfect name Harry- answers Regarder, he smiles when the snake snuggles around his neck, giving him warmth

Since he knows that they won't call him until tomorrow or some other day he allows himself to rest, today was not a good day, he is sore and just wants to sleep and maybe not wake up

It was the first of June when he was allowed to go out again, Regarder wanted to go out with him but Harry knew how dangerous it would be if his "family" saw him, so I had to leave her for her displeasure

Both his aunt and uncle were sitting congratulating his son who posed for them, Harry saw his cousin's silhouette strangely, given the difference he assumed it was because of his uniform, apparently it was exaggerated and even used a cane, as he wished he could see, he is sure that his uniform is ridiculous

I was cleaning the dishes they had used at breakfast, this time they didn't leave any leftovers so that meant I wouldn't eat anything maybe until dinner and that was if they were happy

He was drying a glass when the noise of the mailbox reached his ears, already used to the door, knowing that his uncle wanted him to take it

Half my hand in the mailbox and I only found three letters, I was about to turn you around when I noticed something strange about a letter, a letter that in fact felt made of a different material shone just like him and the snake, only that this one shone in a light blue tone that looked white, strangely I looked at it for a while before turning around and heading to the living room

He handed the letters to his uncle who with a growl took them and simply ignored him, he didn't care because of the habit, he was about to take a walk and return to his tasks when I heard him

-Dad, Harry received something!- he immediately turned to the direction of Dudley's voice. I watched stunned as he had the letter that shone in his hand and shook it before trying to open it

But what surprised him the most was seeing how his uncle Vernon pushed his son to take the letter and see it, he barely had it in his hand before screaming

-Pe.. Pe.. Petunia!- her uncle approached as fast as she had seen the man run to show him the letter, she barely saw him scream just as scared as her husband

-Did they send me a letter?- I asked somewhat offended since I didn't understand the reason why they would send a letter to someone blind

But they didn't answer him but he saw how they ran and locked themselves in the kitchen, for a moment both Dudley and he stayed in their place before immediately running to the kitchen, his cousin looked through a hole that had the door while he took a glass to hear his voice

What I hear I leave him perplexed

-How do they know where he sleeps?, Do they watch us?- Her aunt told her husband scared, her cousin turned to see him as soon as they heard that

-I don't know but I won't allow that evil to fload my home, when we took it in we promised that we would never allow this to continue!

-Shall we tell them then that he won't go?-

-Ignore you! , in the end they will give up - his uncle finished the conversation but they stayed in the room for a while, thinking

Harry was confused, who sent him the letter?, How do you know where he sleeps?, And what does his uncle not want him to continue?

What surprised him the most was that suddenly they changed him from the cupboard to Dudley's toy room, when they ordered him to upload his things he hid Regarder among his hair, which helped him a lot since I told him where to step on the steps

It was no more than a single trip to upload his things but he couldn't help but smile when he finally had a room, although as soon as he entered he stumbled upon a toy car that threw him to the ground, he will have to remember the silhouette of each one and save the whole mess

He could hear his cousin in the living room throwing a tantrum to be returned to his room but to his surprise he heard that his uncle told him to keep quiet since he would not change his mind, his cousin went up the stairs furiously and heard how he knocked on the door, he couldn't help but smile because of that

He clumsily crawled to what he assumed was the bed, it was small but undoubtedly much more comfortable than the small mattress he had in the cupboard

Today was a weird day

And not only that one, but those who followed him

Every day new letters arrived, so many that even three arrived a day, none of the letters reached him, his uncle got up running to the mailbox as soon as the mail arrived, something that impacted him since he has always taken it, but what surprised him the most was that during all the time he did not receive any blow from his aunt or uncle

They even arrested his cousin Dudley!

He was really dying to take one of the letters for Regarder to read for him but he was no longer allowed to be near the mailbox, he even thought about getting up earlier to receive the letters but he realized that it was a bad plan because he could easily stumble on the stairs when he went down and wake up someone

In addition, he knew that if they found out that he had a letter he would receive the beating of his life, he prefers to save himself the pain

On Thursday morning he was surprised since they hadn't woken him up to make lunch he was surprised to see the familiar silhouette of his uncle in the living room, sitting with what looked like three of his letters due to his brightness, surprised he observed the man who turned to look at him and then broke the letters in his direction, in his mind he thought how childish he was since he knew well that Harry could not see how he broke them and that he only realized by the noise

Surprised by his uncle's behavior, he only took care of making lunch before both his aunt and his cousin came down

But before even planning to make the noise of someone hammering caught his attention, he turned to where he heard the noise and was surprised to see the silhouette of his uncle sitting in front of the door, he approached a little to try to guess well what he was doing but before trying his aunt came down with a tired look and also observed his husband

-Honey, why are you closing the mailbox with nails?- she asked confused and Harry smiled when he realized what he was doing but he also got confused

-If I close it, it doesn't speak letters anymore, goodbye to problems - his uncle said with a somewhat lunatic voice, immediately he stepped back a little because of his uncle's sudden change

-I don't think it will help...-Aunt Petunia said defeated but her husband only craped as an answer

-No, they are not like us- he saw the silhouette of his uncle's hand pointing at him and his wife, obviously he was not like them

With a sigh he turned around and continued with breakfast, hoping that in fact the letters would stop

But on Friday morning almost a dozen letters were pushed under the door, he was serving lunch when his uncle Vernon screamed in frustration because of that, he took the letters and threw them into the fire

Harry watched in amazement as the fire that never had color lit up in the same tone of the letter, amazed he observed this

But what surprised him the most was hearing his Uncle Vernon leave the house and start closing the entrance door with nails, his frightened aunt ran to the living room window and yelled at her husband what he was doing

He also asked him, why did they keep sending him letters and why his Uncle didn't want him to receive them?

Dudley even stopped eating and approached his mother to observe his father, Harry just shrugged and took advantage of the fact that everyone turned their backs on him to take bacon from the table

Saturday was one of the strangest since he, his cousin and his aunt were forced to stay in the house all day because they couldn't leave the house, it was strange since for some reason his aunt didn't allow him to do anything so he sat all day

It was funny to hear how his aunt asked the milkman to give her the things through the back window but what surprised him was seeing that there were letters inside both the eggs and the milk, horrified she locked herself in the kitchen and I heard how she called Uncle Vernon scared

This time Dudley turned to him and asked

-Who wants to talk to you so much?- I ask with genuine confusion and doubt, he just shrugged his shoulders before answering

-I don't know, it's not like he could read the sender- he said pointing out the fact that they didn't give him any letter and he couldn't see

-I hope he stops, he's being annoying- said his cousin after a minute of silence and for this time he was on his side

On Sunday his uncle didn't leave the house like the other day but he didn't wake up screaming or nervous about the letters, you are so happy that I let Harry sit in the living room and allowed him to eat something with the family

-Today is a good day, do you know why Dudley?- Uncle Vernon happily approached his son, waiting for the answer but his son only denied, he didn't get upset and to his surprise he turned to him -Do you know Harry?- the kind and happy tone scared him so he answered quickly

-Because there is no mail on Sunday- he said softly but to his surprise his uncle applauded happily

-Right!, today none of those horrible cars will arrive- His happiness was interrupted, a letter came out of the fireplace and hit him on the forehead, everyone remained silent before shouting when almost forty letters entered through the chimney, hitting his uncle and floating around the room

When he saw the amount of letters he hurried to take one from the floor but as soon as he did he was held by the waist, lifting it off the floor with a scream, nervously he moved on his uncle's arm before he took the letter and broke it

-ENOUGH, WE'LL LEAVE HERE!- Angry his uncle felt that he was leaving the room still grabbing him, his aunt and cousin followed him confused - YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES TO TAKE YOUR THINGS!- With that his uncle left the house with Harry still hanging, he approached the car and as soon as he was close he opened the door and pushed the boy inside -IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT, MONSTER!- and with that he slammed the door and returned to his house

He, clearly nervous, charged himself at the door to feel something, he could hear the screams coming from the house and as they threw things into the car, he was grateful not to have things since he was not allowed to bring anything, except for Regarder but they do not know that he brings it in his neck

Regarder came out slightly from his neck but when he saw how his uncle went out with Dudley crying behind him he hid again, Harry heard his cousin's cry confused but he didn't ask anything, he remained silent until he heard how everyone came in and his uncle started the car

During the whole trip he kept his head down so as not to disturb him, the only noise there was the whining of his cousin since he had tried to bring his television in the suitcase and when his uncle saw him he hit him on the head

No one spoke on the trip, not even his aunt to ask where they were going, he was very nervous because they were going to a place where he would not recognize the silhouettes and would collide with everyone

They were about to stop at a shabby hotel when an owl flew by near the car that Uncle Vernon turned on the car again and started without caring that Aunt Petunia was about to get out of the car

No one slept that day, both he and his aunt and cousin were nervous about not knowing where they were going, his cousin sobbed since they didn't even stop to eat, his stomach roared with the strength of a lion and Harry swears that if he could see he would see that his cousin is so scared that he would be pale, how he would like to see that

One day they were on the road until his uncle finally stopped at a gas station for gas, when his uncle got out of the car and supposed to go to the store his cousin started talking

-What's wrong with dad? -Dudley said between sobs to his mother who only sighed

-It will pass honey - Aunt Petunia spoke tenderly to her son to try to calm him down but it didn't help

-I just hope that wherever we go there is television, on Monday from time to time they broadcast my favorite program

The truth is that I stopped paying attention to the conversation since he didn't find it interesting at all, he tried to sleep a little but when his uncle came back and slammed his door he tried hard not to fall asleep because he was really starting to think that his uncle would leave him in some forest so that they wouldn't bother him anymore

During the rest of the day they were stopping in such dark places that they did not allow Harry to see the silhouettes, he only saw when his uncle came down and stayed outside for a few minutes before returning furiously and starting the car again, this was repeated nine times throughout the day, just now they had stopped and his uncle had not returned in longer than expected, his aunt hit his seat with her nails and Dudley began to sob again at the thought that they abandoned him

But without warning the door that was next to him opened which made him fall to the ground, he choked a moan when he realized that he fell on a stone floor, he felt the sting on his cheek but by surprise he didn't feel something hot slip down his cheek, he just scratched

Someone took him by the arm carelessly and started walking with him, scared he turned to see and only…
