Chapter Text
The underground holding cells of the Konoha Intelligence Division were permanently cold, smelling of damp earth and iron-laced chakra.Deep within the shadows, chained to a stone monolith by heavy, chakra-suppressing irons, sat the captured intruder.
He was an anomaly of flesh and wood. The right side of his face was a ruined landscape of deep, twisting scars, while the left side remained unblemished. Beneath his skin, the pulsing white substance of Hashirama cells worked silently, knitting his broken body back together.
Danzo Shimura stood just outside the torchlight, his single visible eye narrowed in stark fascination. The investigation into this stranger had been incredibly superficial. Every time the Intel Division attempted to dive deeper into the prisoner’s mind, the Hokage’s office intervened with a strict, absolute veto.Minato Namikaze, recovering heavily in the hospital after using a modified version of the Reaper Death Seal with Hiruzen's help, had forbidden a deep mental probe. Minato knew exactly who sat in that chair.
It was Obito. His boisterous, idealistic student—the boy he had wept for.
Minato’s heart was consumed by agonizing, unvoiced questions: Why did you attack the village? Why did you unleash Kurama on us? Yet, to protect Obito’s remaining dignity and keep his identity a permanent secret from a vengeful village, Minato lied to his council. He claimed the prisoner was simply a powerful, rogue stranger. But Danzo was a vulture for utility. He had uncovered two undeniable facts: the scarred stranger possessed a genuine Uchiha Sharingan, and his body was fused with active Hashirama cells.
Danzo did not know about the existence of the Mangekyou Sharingan; he only saw a highly potent, biological weapon. The thought of such raw power thrilled him.
The council brought their findings directly to the leadership of the Uchiha clan, demanding answers. Who is this man? Where did he come from, and how did he obtain these forbidden traits? The Uchiha clan elders were deeply shaken by the revelation.
They thoroughly cross-examined their own ranks, but no one recognized the scarred face. Frustrated and defensive, the Uchiha leadership flatly denied any knowledge of the stranger, stating he must be an outsider who had stolen their bloodline. However, seeing his undeniable genetic power and lacking young Alphas of such raw potential, the Uchiha clan recognized an opportunity. They agreed to support the council's next move, eager to keep this mysterious, powerful bloodline closely tied to their clan's future influence.
To keep this asset under total, inescapable control, Danzo formulated a brutal political strategy.
"An arranged marriage," Danzo proposed later that evening, standing before the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
"We tie him to the village legally. We force him to pass on his genetic gifts. And more importantly, we place him under 24/7 surveillance by someone we trust explicitly."Danzo’s chosen candidate was Kakashi Hatake.
As an Omega and the absolute last living member of the prestigious Hatake clan, Kakashi was entirely isolated. He had no clan elders to protect him from the council's demands. From his hospital bed, Minato Namikaze watched the rustling leaves outside his window. His body was weak, his legs still completely unresponsive, but his mind was sharp. When Hiruzen brought the proposal to him, Minato didn't fight it. In fact, he quietly supported it.
The council thought they were executing a clever trap to keep a dangerous asset under constant guard. But Minato knew better. In this world, Omegas were not looked down upon; they were highly respected, cherished, and known for their unique spiritual strength. Kakashi was a proud, elite shinobi, but his soul was deeply fractured by grief.
Minato knew that no matter how much bitterness currently twisted Obito's heart, Obito was, at his core, a protective and deeply devoted Alpha and no one in the world understood the Hatake Omega better than Obito.Minato gave his official Hokage approval for the union. To the village, it looked like a calculated chess move to merge the Hatake line with a powerful, mysterious Uchiha asset.
But to Minato, it was a secret prayer for his two students—a desperate hope that being forced together would finally heal their broken
bonds.
The morning of the wedding arrived without joy.Kakashi stood before the mirror in his small, empty apartment, adjusting the high collar of his formal dark robes.
The white porcelain ANBU mask sat on his dining table, a stark reminder of the life he was temporarily stepping away from. His silver hair fell loosely around his headband, which was slanted perfectly to cover his left eye—the Sharingan eye. Obito's eye.His scent—usually a crisp, quiet note of winter rain and ozone—was entirely suppressed by medication. He felt numb.
When the council handed down the decree, Kakashi hadn't argued. As an Omega without a clan, he understood his political duties, but more than that, he simply didn't care enough about his own future to fight it. If the village needed him to keep watch over a silent, scarred Uchiha prisoner by becoming his spouse, he would do it. It was just another mission.
"A rogue Uchiha," Kakashi muttered to his reflection, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. He thought of the clan that had brought so much genius and so much tragedy to Konoha. He thought of Obito's bright, obnoxious smile that used to irritate him so much, and a familiar, dull ache bloomed in his chest.
"What would you think of this, Obito?"He picked up his gloves, pulled them over his hands, and walked out into the chilly morning air.
The ceremony was held in a private, heavily guarded courtyard near the Intelligence Division, far away from the bustling, rebuilding streets of Konoha. There were no flowers, no cheering crowds, and no music. Only Hiruzen Sarutobi, a few clan elders, and a perimeter of ANBU guards hidden in the trees.
When the guards brought the prisoner out, Kakashi's lone eye narrowed. The man was tall, his shoulders broad, moving with a heavy, deliberate grace despite the heavy iron seal-cuffs bounding his wrists together. The right side of his face was a mass of gnarled, pale scar tissue, completely devoid of the smooth skin he must have once had. He wore simple, dark traditional robes provided by the Uchiha clan, but he wore them like a shroud. As the prisoner stopped across from him, his single visible dark eye locked onto Kakashi.
A heavy wave of Alpha intent rolled off the stranger, but as Obito looked at his old teammate, the sharp edge of his aggression softened into something deeply complex. His gaze lingered on the silver hair and the slouching posture he knew so well. Obito's jaw clenched. He masked his feelings behind a cold, stoic expression, refusing to let the village elders see even a flicker of recognition. But inside, amidst all his hatred for Konoha, a small, quiet spark of comfort settled in his chest.
Kakashi was alive.Kakashi stood his ground, intending to remain perfectly detached, but the moment his eye met the stranger's, a sudden, powerful shock ran through his system. It wasn't fear or intimidation. It was an overwhelming wave of familiarity. The air around the stranger felt unexpectedly safe, carrying a ghostly resonance that made Kakashi's instincts completely drop their guard.
A strange, deep sense of comfort washed over him, a feeling he hadn't experienced since he was a child. The Sharingan behind his closed eyelid throbbed with a sudden, sharp heat, reacting violently to the man's presence. Kakashi's breath hitched slightly behind his mask. Why does a complete stranger feel so familiar? he thought, his heart hammering against his ribs.
"Begin the rites," Hiruzen announced, his voice heavy with sorrow as he looked at the two young men. He knew the burden he was placing on them, but he also trusted Minato's silent assurance. The ceremony was brief and transactional. Oaths of alliance were read aloud by a council official.
When it came time to bind their chakra signatures legally, Kakashi stepped forward first, pressing his blood-stained thumb against the official scroll.Obito was forced forward by the guards. Because his hands were bound in iron, the official held the scroll up to his fingers. Obito didn't look at the paper. His dark eye remained fixed on Kakashi's face, a storm of hidden emotions raging behind his scarred features as his thumb left a dark crimson mark right next to Kakashi's name. The bond was sealed.
Legally, politically, and physically, the rogue Alpha and the Hatake Omega were now bound to one another."The union is recognized," Hiruzen declared. "Kakashi Hatake, the custody and surveillance of the prisoner are now formally transferred to your household. Any breach of peace will be your responsibility."
"Understood, Lord Third," Kakashi replied smoothly, bowing his head as he forced his voice to remain steady despite the strange comfort humming in his veins.
He turned his gaze to his new husband. The man was staring back at him, unreadable and silent. Kakashi merely offered a small, closed-eye tilt of his head—his classic, lazy gesture."Well then," Kakashi said softly, his tone completely casual as if he were just greeting a new teammate. "Let's go home, stranger."
