Chapter 1: Prologue(?)

Chapter Text

Anaya found herself in the corner of the bathroom, staring at the body half submerged in the tub. Taking deep breaths to calm herself down, she tucked her knees to her chest and hid her face, finding it harder to breathe the longer she kept herself in the room. She managed to take a breath when the door opened, looking up to find a fate worse than prison.

"Who knew you'd finally go through with it. I almost thought I'd have to step in to do it for you." Eki smirked, looking down at Anaya. The girl felt a sense of dread at his words, as if they solidified the situation she put herself in.

"How did..." Anaya trailed off, Eki sighing in partial annoyance.

"You left the door unlocked. Again. Thought it was a sign, but I guess not." He explained, pulling out a dagger from one of his pockets. "Did you double check she was dead? I'm more than happy to do it for you." He pointed out with a smile, making Anaya panic.

"No-! No, I...felt her neck snap. She's...she..." Anaya stopped again, trying not to cry, which made Eki tilt his head, red tips had started to fade out the more his brown hair grew, making him vaguely note he needed to cut his hair again.

"You're so emotional." He pointed out instead with a glare. "If she did that to you, she'd bury you in the backyard and go on with her life and you know that."

"Shut up!" Anaya snapped at him, looking up to meet his red eyes. "You don't know anything about her!"

"I know how many times she tried to kill you. I think I know enough." He replied, his voice remaining neutral despite the annoyance behind it.

"You don't know anything about that!" She argued, standing up to meet him at eye level.

"You're an idiot. Everyone saw what you couldn't see and you're still denying it." He pointed out, pushing her back to create space between them. "You think and act with your heart not your mind." He hissed, walking out of the bathroom. "Wallow in self pity as long as you want, but if you decide to follow me you better cut that shit out, do you hear me?" He demanded, glaring at her. Anaya fell quiet before nodding and following him out of the room.

Notes:

The first chapter is officially posted! I rewrote this with my OC's for fun at first, but realized it had a lot of potential and decided to rewrite it. I don't have a posting schedule, but I'm planning to finish this before I get shipped off to college so my new school Wi-Fi won't have to witness this
