Chapter Text
If someone would take Martin to the side and ask him very confidentially “Hey, since when exactly are you sleeping with your boss?” He’d say, “Ha-ha, what? I’m not sleeping with my boss.” and he’d be flat-out lying.
Because in reality, he remembers the day it first happened in much more detail than he’d like to. It’s not like the sex was bad or anything—it wasn’t—on the contrary, it’s just that Martin would feel a lot more morally responsible if it hadn’t happened at all.
But then again, maybe it was only a matter of time. There had always been that weird kind of tension between them ever since Juhoon took Martin home in his Audi A7 on a stormy day, thunder and all. His shoes got soaked, but oh well. Somehow, after that, they happened to get stuck together at the most inconvenient times one could imagine, and somehow, instead of being annoyed by Martin's existence like basically everyone else, Juhoon seemed weirdly okay with it.
And ‘weirdly okay’ is better than everything else Martin ever gets, which is probably the reason that when Juhoon pulled him into one of the fancy bathroom stalls at the last Christmas staff party, he let himself, for the lack of a better word for it, be fucked senseless.
And which is also most definitely the reason why he’s currently bent over a very expensive-looking desk, being…well…you know.
In Martin's defence, he didn’t enter the office on the top floor of the tall glass building with any sexual intentions in mind. Well, at least not entirely. Because meeting Juhoon’s eyes without Martin's mind immediately jumping to filthy fantasies that are most literally not safe for work has become an act of impossibility.
It’s not his fault that Juhoon dragged him into a conversation after Martin had delivered his report from last week and it’s also not his fault that Juhoon dragged him into a passionate kiss just a few minutes later as well. It may, however, be his fault that he indulged in the kiss, into the touch of restless hands on heated skin and into mumbled words, no, orders that he was more than happy to obey.
He knows it’s wrong. He knows sleeping with your boss is not exactly a trivial offence, neither for Juhoon, nor for Martin's co-workers who hopefully aren’t suspecting anything yet, nor for himself. But he can’t say no. He could, of course. But it’s not Juhoon holding him back, it’s Martin, him and himself. Something inside of him blocks off every voice of reason inside him as soon as Juhoon’s husky voice whispers sweet promises into his ear and when warm breath brushes over the sensitive skin of his neck, when Juhoon’s strong yet soft hands grab onto his hips, careful first but quickly with more eagerness, carrying anticipation in every thrust.
He could say no even now, at least if he finds a way to keep from making noises that would give them away as soon as he stops digging his teeth into the skin of his forearm. But even if he made the impossible come true, he wouldn’t want to say no. He’d end up begging for more, solidifying the image of him being a pathetic loser who craves happiness and thrill in sleeping with his boss. As if there is any reputation left to save.
What comes out of his mouth when Juhoon pushes harder is not a no, nor is it a plea to do more to him. More so, it comes close to a grunt that could either carry the sensation of pleasure or pain, or in Martin's case, both.
“Do I need to be more careful with you?” The dark whisper right next to Martin's ear makes his body shiver. He wishes he could turn around to look at Mr Kim, but it’s impossible for several reasons.
He mumbles something into his skin in response and can practically feel the grin right next to his ear.
“What was that?”
“Ngh, no,” Martin gasps silently as he allows himself to let go for the time it will take him to answer. His mind is clouded, his senses only responsive to what’s in direct reach of him. “Please, just…don’t stop.”
His shoulders tense up when warm lips brush over the sensitive skin of his neck, relaxing again a second later when they press a small kiss against it. It didn’t take Juhoon very long to figure out Martin's weak spot. Not that there’s only one anyway.
“And what if I do?”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Martin whispers, trying not to sound like something inside of him is borderline panicking.
Juhoon’s deep chuckle vibrates against Martin's skin before he digs his teeth into the soft skin, making Martin wish for the hundredth time that he could leave marks on him. It wouldn’t be worth the looks he’d get from everyone in the building when he’d walk out with hickeys from their boss’ office, but right now, with Juhoon so close, with his pleasure at a height, he wouldn’t even stop his boss from trying.
Lucky for him, Juhoon is still a lot more present than him.
“It sure would be a lot of fun,” he hums before letting go of Martin's neck again.
“Don’t you have…things…to do?” Martin whimpers in an attempt to get what he wants so desperately and elicits a muted laugh from his boss.
“Talking back now, hm?” Without a warning, he thrusts deeper, almost making Martin cry out before he can dig his teeth into his arm again. “You can be glad that I actually am busy.”
Martin wants to talk back. He wants to tease him, wants to keep going until they are both out of breath. But his body betrays him. With one last muffled moan and a quick prayer that the secretary outside doesn’t hear him, Martin comes, dragging his nails over the expensive-looking wood of the desk in an attempt to hold onto something as his whole body is shaken.
Juhoon follows just a few seconds later. Martin feels the weight behind him shifting and a thud next to him tells him that his boss is much better at finding things to hold on to, grabbing the edge of the desk and making the veins in his forearms stand out even more, as Martin notices with pleasure when his eyes flutter open. It takes a few seconds for his vision to go clear again and when it does, Juhoon is already pulling back, leaving Martin with shaky knees and a pleasantly fuzzy brain.
“Jesus fucking-“ Martin mumbles, “Christ,” he slowly pushes himself up again, not trusting himself enough to let go of the desk just yet. When he turns his head, he’s met with a wicked grin from his boss. He wonders if he’s thinking the same. If he also thinks about the time when they exchanged urgent words and promises that something like this would and could never happen again. And about how they broke them right after. They haven’t learned their lesson since.
“I should start demanding more reports from you again,” Juhoon says while he’s already making his way around the desk, letting his gaze wander over the city-view outside before returning to Martin. He will never understand how his boss can be this composed so quickly while he’s here, half-naked and shaken.
“You wouldn’t even read them,” Martin teases and finally stands up, watching Juhoon throw him an amused look as he rubs disinfectant that smells like hibiscus into his hands. Like the neat bastard he is.
“Now that I think about it, I’d have more interesting things on my desk.” Ignoring the roll of Martin's eyes, he pushes a plain box of tissues his way, which Martin takes gratefully. This has happened so much that Martin almost considers it a routine. Which probably shouldn’t be considered a good thing.
Martin pulls all his clothes back into place, including covering the bite marks he has left on his arm and wishing they could be Juhoon’s instead, and cleans his hands with the tissue and the disinfectant that his boss gave him after he was done with it. He rushes to clean up the mess he’s made as well and when he comes back up from under the desk, Juhoon is already typing frantically on his keyboard, filling the room with satisfying clicking noises.
Without much thought, he throws the tissue into the bin and watches it land right next to the used condom. He wonders if the cleaning staff knows about this…affair? Whatever this is called. And he also wonders if he’s the only one or if more people are getting fucked in this office, bend over this very desk. He wonders if Juhoon would tell him if he asked. He doesn’t want to, anyway. So he pushes the thought away quickly.
“I hate to throw you out like that,” Juhoon rips him out of his thoughts. “But I have an online conference in three minutes.”
Martin raises his eyebrow. “Three minutes? You’re getting risky, Mr Kim.”
Juhoon huffs something close to a laugh and his dark eyes fall on Martin. He tries not to shiver under his gaze. “Oh, excuse me. Next time I won’t make you beg for more and just let you come whenever I please.” Now he might have actually shivered. “And I already told you before. It’s Juhoon when it’s just us two, okay?”
“Got it, Mr Juhoon.”
Juhoon shoots him a dismissive look but Martin is almost certain that there is also the hint of a smile on his boss’ lips. Almost.
“Two minutes.”
“Alright, I’m gone,” Martin finally obeys and smooths out his light blue shirt before heading to the door. His hand is already resting on the handle when he takes another look back at his boss. But Juhoon is already completely immersed in whatever important thing is happening on his desktop, and Martin allows himself to appreciate the serious/sexy crease on his forehead before finally heading out.
He gives the secretary an obligatory I did not just break a very important rule of common sense and fucked my boss nod-and-smile-combination, which the young man only acknowledges with the slightest twitch of his eyes.
When Martin lets the elevator bring him down to his floor, the infamous post-nut clarity finally starts to settle in. This always happens to him but he still hasn’t gotten used to it. Once again, he wonders how this could have happened and why he didn’t prevent it. Sometimes he lies awake at night, convinced that he has finally found a way to break this whole thing off. Sometimes he lies awake for entirely different reasons, finding pleasure in imagining the things Juhoon can do to him.
He’s starting to feel like a hopeless case.
With wobbly legs and still feeling the spots where Juhoon’s finger had dug into his hips just a few minutes ago, he walks back into his office that he shares with his co-worker and best friend, who he hopes won’t comment on him being this late.
“You’re late,” Seonghyeon disappoints and eyes Martin suspiciously, making him stop in the middle of the room before reaching the comfort of his desk where he can hide behind his screen.
“What?”
Seonghyeon raises his brows as his lips spread into a far too knowing grin. This is it, Martin thinks to himself and already starts mentally loading all of his precious office belongings (a dying cactus and a little statue of a wiener dog his mom got him from their last vacation) into a paper box and leaving in the pouring rain, for dramatic purposes.
“You’ve been gone for a while,” Seonghyeon explains as his eyes wander down Martin, grin widening. “Please don’t tell me you went to see Mr Kim like that.”
He heard Keonho cackling like a hyena from somewhere in the room.
Martin stares at his co-worker before his mind eventually complies. He looks down on himself and takes a few beats before realising what Seonghyeon is trying to tell him. Quickly, he closes his fly, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks before Seonghyeon even starts to laugh.
“I hope he didn’t notice,” Martin mumbles without looking at either of them, knowing exactly that Juhoon is the reason for this mishap in the first place. When he risks another look at his friend, he’s yet again met with curious eyes. “What is it now?”
“You seem kinda…”
“What?” Martin repeats, unable to hide his annoyance.
Seonghyeon pauses for another second before shrugging. “A little shaken.”
“Geez, thanks,” Martin mumbles and finally takes his seat behind the shield of his screen, glad he doesn’t have to avoid Seonghyeon’s piercing gaze anymore.
“Trouble with Mr Kim?”
“Not exactly.”
Martin is sure he hears the beginning of another question caught in Seonghyeon’s throat behind his workspace, but his friend seems to get the message and resumes his quick typing. Martin allows himself to relax and lets his gaze wander to the view outside the floor-length window. Sometimes he still wonders how he ended up in a workplace this high-end. How he ended up being paid way above minimum wage when he didn’t even major in anything close to Business. Not that he’s complaining, it helps pay off his crushing student debt.
He also often wonders what exactly this company is doing. Because if anyone would ask him, he honestly couldn’t tell. Just some trading stuff, is his obligatory answer when anyone asks and it’s usually satisfying enough to stop them from digging further. Or boring enough. Either way, Martin can’t tell.
His mind also starts wandering back to what happened in Juhoon’s office just an hour ago and before the thoughts can make him unable to get anything done today, he gets back to work. Much slower than Seonghyeon, he types out some e-mails about this and that, looks over an Excel sheet about…uh, stuff and opens his task manager to find out what the hell is making his PC sound like it’s about to lift off.
When there’s nothing left to do, but still 2 hours left before he can go home without looking like a completely incompetent loser at his job, Martin contemplates paying some of his co-workers a visit. Then again, he feels like what he let Juhoon do to him is written all over his face and he doesn’t want to risk anyone seeing it, finding out their secret.
In short, he’s too lazy to get up.
He plays good old Minesweeper for ten minutes before getting bored of always hitting the bombs. So his mind starts wandering once again. Back to hungry looks and demanding hands, to hot skin and wet lips. To stuffy air and nails dragging over skin and hardwood.
God, he should really save those fantasies for later.
“I’m gonna get some coffee, want anything?” Seonghyeon’s head pops up from behind his screen and Martin barely keeps himself from jumping at the sudden attention. He hopes Seonghyeon didn’t notice that he has neither been typing nor clicking for the past minutes but then again, Seonghyeon lets it slip most of the time anyway.
“Uh,” is all Martin gets out before realising that he did in fact not hear the question. They hold eye contact for what feels like a minute before Seonghyeon’s neutral expression turns to one of concern.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You’re being so absent today.”
Damn Seonghyeon and his way of reading people.
“Yeah, I’m good,” Martin says, not sure if it’s a lie or not. He’s usually better at hiding his intercourse with their boss. “Just tired.”
“I’ll get you matcha then,” Seonghyeon says with a comforting smile and gets up, making sure to give Martin a gentle shoulder squeeze before leaving to get them their beverages.
Keonho practically hops from his seat two desks over, “I’ll go with you, Seonghyeonie!”
Martin continues to stare at his desktop background of a dog chasing after a frisbee after Seonghyeon leaves. He figures that it might not look too good when someone walks in and finds him doing exactly nothing, so he decides to at least open up his email program and write something out that looks like a very important message.
But when he boots up the program and lets his gaze wander over the mails he has received in the last few hours, his eyes get caught on Juhoon’s name. It might not give the best impression to write his boss nondescript emails during work hours, but he has nothing better to do and it’s not exactly his fault.
And he misses Juhoon, he dares to admit to himself.
So he starts typing.
Subject: Very Important Question
Dear Mr Kim,
I know you must be very busy today and I am deeply sorry for bothering you, but I have a question that I need to have answered ASAP.
Do I get paid for the time I spend in your office?
Best regards,
Edwards Martin
PS: I hope your meeting went well.
Martin doesn’t have time to overthink the purpose of this mail before his finger has already clicked on the Send button. While Juhoon is known for cracking jokes with his employees and Martin has lightly bickered with him before, he can’t be entirely sure that his boss will appreciate messages like these.
Seonghyeon and Keonho return before Juhoon replies, putting down a cup of matcha and one of those chewy peanut butter cookies from the cafeteria that Martin likes so much in front of him. He still doesn’t know how he deserves such a wonderful co-worker like Seonghyeon.
“Now you are being late,” Martin teases before taking a bite of his cookie and letting himself sink back into his chair.
“I just wanted to ask James what he wants for dinner tonight,” Seonghyeon says with a shrug and a fond smile at the mention of his friend.
“Yeah right. Because you can’t just text him,” Martin says with a grin and a mouth still full of delicious dough, kicking Seonghyeon gently under their tables.
Seonghyeon rolls his eyes at him before kicking back. “Shut up.”
Martin huffs a laugh, being used to Seonghyeon’s bickering and also being comfortable with it. He thinks about firing back, but instead, his mind gets caught up on something else. Because maybe he does understand, though to a different extent. If someone came in and offered him to spend his whole day up there in Juhoon’s office, he wouldn’t even think twice. Not just for the fucking. Just to spend time with him. Though he’d certainly miss Seonghyeon.
As if Juhoon has telepathic skills, a new mail pops up on Martin's screen. He throws Seonghyeon another look, but he appears to be caught up in his work. Without further delay, Martin opens the mail.
Subject: RE: Very Important Question
Dear Mr Edwards,
I am concerned that you appear to have the time to bother me with e-mails like this. Apparently, I haven’t given you enough work for today. Let me see if there’s something I could do about that.
But to answer your question: Yes, you are getting paid for our time together. It was a meeting after all, wasn’t it?
Best regards,
Kim Juhoon
CEO of KIM Enterprise
PS: Meeting went OK. Thanks for asking.
For a moment there, Martin's heart had stopped, but he’s resumed to grinning at the end of the mail. Biting it back, he types his reply.
Subject: Immoral Business Ethics
Dear Mr Kim,
What I am concerned about is that you are seemingly and knowingly paying your employees to have sex with you. What a very naughty thing to do of you.
I think it’s clear that I require some kind of hush money so that your secret doesn’t meet the light of day. I will take it in any form you please. (Preferably a voucher for a lifetime supply of free cookies from the cafeteria or, if you may, more sexual insertions.)
Best regards,
Edwards Martin
Martin hopes that Juhoon understands the joking tone of his mail and that he’s not actually trying to get sued. Impatiently, he waits for a new message and isn’t disappointed.
Subject: Trying to get fired
Dear Mr Edwards,
What you are trying to do here is called bribing and is illegal to my knowledge. You can consider yourself lucky that I appreciate you as one of my best employees and therefore reject any form of punishment. At least any form that you don’t explicitly request.
After all, this is my company and I decide where the money goes.
Best regards,
Kim Juhoon
CEO of KIM Enterprise
PS: That’s a no to the cookies.
Martin huffs upon reading the last words, which earns him a confused look from Seonghyeon, which he ignores. He almost hates to admit it, but he could spend all day exchanging emails with Juhoon.
Subject: Investment
Dear Mr Kim,
I understand your concerns and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your good nature. I also want to apologise for my scandalous attempt at bribing.
Don’t worry, I will make up a form of punishment that I will definitely not forget. Give me 1-2 business days to figure out what might make me regret this the most.
May I ask, now that I’m getting paid for getting you off: Am I a good investment for this company?
Best regards,
Edwards Martin
Risky has become Martin's second name ever since starting this whole thing with Juhoon. Well, his third name. His second name is actually J—forget about it. He barely tells anyone about it because he absolutely hates it.
Subject: Naughty Employees
Dear Mr Edwards,
I firmly believe that you’re biased. After all, I should be the one choosing a way to punish you, since you threatened to ruin my company and my reputation.
But to ease your mind, I have certainly made worse investments. Though I don’t think the whole company needs to know about it. You are more of a personal investment. ;)
Best regards,
Kim Juhoon
CEO of KIM Enterprise
It’s become very hard for Martin to fight the urge to drop everything, sprint to the elevator and storm into Juhoon’s office to pull him into a passionate kiss and hope for more. The stupid grin won’t leave his face as he reads the mail again and he wonders why they haven’t started doing this earlier, all this teasing and the sexual references.
Maybe he knows why they haven’t done this earlier. Because it makes Martin even more attached to Juhoon in a way you shouldn’t be attached to your boss. But instead of giving in and spiralling into this thought, he starts typing his reply.
“That matcha seems to have helped,” Seonghyeon remarks from his workspace and startles Martin, who quickly pulls back his fingers from his keyboard as if he had been touching the forbidden fruit.
“What?”
Seonghyeon throws him an amused look from behind his monitor. “I haven’t heard you typing this much since…well, never actually. You’re being unusually productive today,” he adds with a hint of teasing Martin can’t ignore.
“Yeah, I just…uh…like this job.”
“Suddenly?”
“Yeah,” Martin repeats, dumbfounded, not able to find a better explanation so quickly.
Seonghyeon raises a suspicious eyebrow before laughing. “Alright. If you say so.”
Martin can practically hear that Seonghyeon doesn’t buy any of his bullshit, but he’s glad he’s not asking further questions. Because of course, he’s right. Despite the more than good wage, he doesn’t like this job at all. It’s boring and not mentally challenging, as Martin usually likes it.
Sometimes Martin allows himself to dream of working a job that fulfils his passion. Something where he can actually use his degree in Music. Something that just sparks his interest.
It’s true. He doesn’t like this job at all. He just happens to like some of the people that work here. Even if it will eventually mean trouble.
Back when Martin was still a broke college student, living in a dorm room that exhibited at least four OSHA violations, he would have never thought he’d end up forcing himself in one of three reasonably decent shirts every single weekday.
Stuck on the wall behind his TV are lots of pictures from back in those days, showing him and his friends at parties, pretending to be studying in the library, on one of their many nightly trips into town. Martin wonders when all of this caught up to them. He wonders if his friends are happy and he wonders if they asked him the same, what his answer would be.
Sure, he is able to afford his own apartment and though it’s mostly untidy, it’s not too shabby either. He doesn’t have to worry about not being able to pay rent and can buy the snacks that are a little pricier from time to time. College debt is still sitting on his neck, but he can manage.
Love life? Well, apart from the little big affair with his boss, non-existent. He thinks he’s okay with it, though sometimes he feels a sting of jealousy when he sees couples walking along the street. Martin tries hard not to compare himself.
He’s totally okay, after all.
Most of the time.
Okay, he feels lonely.
He feels like a loser who works a job he has never been trained for, can’t manage to get it together to find something he actually enjoys and whose only social contacts are limited to old college friends he meets once a month and people he knows from work. Those are first-world problems and Martin is more than aware of it. And the fact that he’s contemplating all of this while a machine is brewing delicious fresh coffee for him isn’t exactly doing his mind a favour.
“Excuse me, but are you done anytime soon?" A polite voice eventually whips him out of his quarter-life crisis thoughts.
“Uh,” he says mindfully and turns around, meeting bright blue eyes. “I guess?”
“Well, you’ve been staring at your finished cup of coffee for a few minutes now and though I think you might be going through something right now, I’d really like to make a cup for myself, so-“
“Oh, yes! Right!” Martin blurts and quickly grabs his beverage, so eagerly that he spills some of the hot liquid over his hands. He takes it like a real man and only whimpers a little.
His co-worker watches him with a confused and for some unknown reason, a pitiful expression. Martin tries to ignore the pain by spending all his brain power on remembering the guy’s name. It was something weird. Sounding like some kind of IKEA furniture? Billy?
“Thanks, dude,” Not-Billy says and steps in front of the machine, pressing the buttons to get it working. “But really, are you okay? You looked…”
“Miserable?” Martin asks miserably.
“Thoughtful,” his co-worker says and looks at him over his shoulder. God, what was his damn name again? Bob? Was there a B at the front?
“Oh, it’s nothing, really,” Martin shrugs off. Whatever, he’ll call him Not-B for now.
"Stressful couple of days?" Not-B says as the machine makes brewing noises.
"You could say that," Martin lies. His life could probably use a bit of actual stress if it meant it would stop being so fucking boring. Well, aside from the part where he's fucking his boss in a secret affair that could cost him the few things that make up his everyday life.
“I know how it is,” Not-B says with an understanding smile. “It will get better.”
“I know it will.” Martin isn’t too sure about it, at least for the near future. But he wants to get out of this conversation and back to his comfortable chair where he can play Minesweeper or whatever. “And since it’s so stressful right now, I should probably get back to work.” He couldn’t be a worse liar, but Not-B seems to either be very understanding or very oblivious.
“Of course! Have a good one, Martin.”
“Thanks, you too,” he says and hurries off before Not-B can share any more of his wisdom with him.
When he enters his office again, Seonghyeon is frantically talking to someone on the phone. And even though he appears to be a dangerous mixture of stressed and annoyed, he still finds time to shoot Martin a quick smile when he notices him.
“No, Sir. I told you that we do not sell any kind of eyeglasses. You are probably referring to LIN Enterprise. We are KIM Enterprise." He pauses as the person on the other end is talking, staring at his screen blankly. "No, we don't sell contact lenses either.”
Martin has to try his best not to laugh and when Seonghyeon gives him a look that is begging him for help, he decides that his good deed of the day is to give Seonghyeon his coffee. It appears to lighten his mood and Seonghyeon mouths a “Thank you” his way, before turning his attention back to the caller.
“Sir, can I have a minute? Thank you very much.” He puts the phone away from his face and mutes the call, huffing an exhausted sigh. “God help me.”
“Old dude?” Martin asks and leans against Seonghyeon’s desk with his hip.
“Old dude,” he confirms and takes a huge sip of coffee, relaxing under its warmth. “Can you do me a favour? James needs these reports soon,” he grabs a small stack of paper and shows it to Martin, “and I can’t get away from this call. Could you get it to James?”
"Sure thing," Martin says, grabbing the papers that will save him from boredom for at least 10 minutes. “Good luck with your very important call,” he says with a grin as Seonghyeon rolls his eyes before putting the call back on. And as much as Martin would love to hear where all of this is going, his will to help Seonghyeon is stronger.
So he takes the papers and leaves the office again. Seonghyeon didn’t say how urgent this was so he decides not to hurry. James can wait a few more minutes. Martin walks the carpeted halls, greeting some of the co-workers he knows and some he has never seen before (or so he thinks). Most of them are probably heading towards their well-deserved lunch. Martin hopes Seonghyeon won’t have to deal with that old guy for much longer.
Trying not to fall back into his earlier thinking pattern, Martin presses the button for the elevator. Usually, he would repeat the same motion if the elevator wouldn’t arrive in 2 seconds, but today he decides to allow himself some time. He watches the red numbers over the door change and when the elevator finally announces itself with a bing, he’s surprised to find it empty. Well, at least that means he doesn’t have to pretend he’s good at small talk.
His tiny spike of euphoria crashes down again when he hears quick footsteps approaching behind him. For a second, he considers taking a quick step inside and pressing the button that closes the doors frantically while the potential fellow passenger watches him in bewilderment, not breaking eye contact.
While that does sound very compelling, Martin experiences a quick change of heart when he hears a voice calling out for him, sending shivers down his spine.
"Hold it, please," Juhoon calls out and even if Martin had still wanted to live out his superiority fantasy, he couldn’t have moved from his spot right between the doors.
"Thank you, Mr Edwards," Juhoon says with one of those businessmen grins that usually makes you want to punch them in the face, but all Martin can think of is kissing it off instead.
“No problem,” he mumbles and takes a step back to make room for his boss. Then he takes another for safety precautions.
“Where do you have to get off, Martin?” Juhoon says much quieter, looking at Martin with something in his eyes that makes him shiver. As if the mention of his name wouldn’t be enough to make him weak already.
“Uh…on the 25th.”
“Good.” Juhoon’s fingers pass the button with the 25 and land on the one with the 34 instead. Martin looks at him utterly confused as the doors close behind Juhoon.
“Um…I actually have to get off at the-“ The rest of his sentence is smothered by bodily heat wrapping around him, by the smell of perfume that probably costs more than his rent. One of Juhoon’s hands is propped up against the wall right next to Martin's head, nailing him down as hungry eyes wander over his disbelieving face.
“Can I kiss you?” Juhoon murmurs as his gaze darts to Martin's lips. He doesn’t feel enough confidence in himself to speak right now, so all he gives him is a nod that’s way too quick to convey any form of dignity for himself.
But it doesn’t matter after all. Not when Juhoon kisses him like it’s the last thing he will ever be able to do. Not when his free hand pushes back Martin's hip into the metal behind him and certainly not when his tongue whispers sweet secrets onto his lips. It’s another one of those situations where a No would have been the safer answer for everyone involved, but a desperate yes is what makes Martin feel more alive than anything else lately.
His heart is beating a heavy rhythm inside of his chest as his free hand searches for something to hold on to and finds Juhoon’s shirt, pulling him closer without any sense of holding back. Martin doesn’t know how long this stupid elevator ride will take and he doesn’t know if there will be anyone awaiting them behind the door of the 34th floor, but for all he cares nothing of it matters right now.
A silent moan slips from his mouth into Juhoon’s and gets caught with a grin.
“God, I wish I could fuck you right now,” Juhoon murmurs into the next kiss, his thigh finding its way between Martin's shaky legs.
Martin mumbles something that is supposed to say Fuck, yes, me too, please fuck me right here, but ends up sounding more like an incomprehensible Fupfmpf. Apparently, it sounds affirmative enough for Juhoon to huff a deep laugh, sending shivers into places Martin didn’t even know existed inside of him.
“You need to learn to communicate better, Martin,” Juhoon whispers as his hand slowly wanders up Martin's torso until warm fingertips brush over his neck. “Tell me what you want.”
“I want you to fuck me,” Martin manages to get out as he overthrows every last single thought of playing hard to get, pushing his hips against Juhoon’s leg and shivering at the pleasant pull it sends through his lower body.
“Oh, please,” Juhoon mocks him with an audible grin. "You know we don't have the time for that right now." Despite his words, he moves his leg against Martin's obvious bulge slowly.
“That…doesn’t change the fact that I want it,” Martin somehow manages to say through the haze clouding his thoughts. This might be the first time in his entire life that he wants to get stuck in an elevator.
"I like a man who knows what he wants," Juhoon says as his eyes wander down to his thumb which is slowly but noticeably applying pressure to Martin's neck. A soft gasp escapes Martin's lips, his fingers dig into Juhoon's shirt and desperately tries to pull him closer. Juhoon rewards his attempt with an amused huff, not budging. “I also like a man who shows me what he wants.”
“Then fucking give it to me already,” Martin whispers, barely keeping his voice from cracking.
“I would,” Juhoon mumbles while his thumb presses deeper into the softness of Martin's neck, eliciting a shaky gasp that is on the verge of a moan from him. “But my stop is here.”
Warm lips brush Martin's cheek and suddenly, everything that has been holding him up is gone. His horny brain barely registers the bing of the elevator and he needs to blink a few times before Juhoon comes back into focus, standing between the opened doors with a knowing grin on his face.
"I will see you, Mr Edwards," he says before pressing the 25th button and exiting the elevator, leaving Martin alone with his shredding desire and an unsteady heart.
Subject: Dangerous Working Environment
Dear Mr Kim,
I have found the elevators in this building to be quite strange. They haven’t always been like this, I am pretty sure. But there has been an incident recently where I found myself trapped in one of these very elevators with an outrageously attractive man! If you keep letting outrageously attractive men ride these elevators, distracting me from my very important work tasks, I suppose I will have to take the stairs from now on.
I hope the problem can be fixed very soon.
Best regards,
Edwards Martin

Dear Mr Edwards,
I want to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this outrageously attractive man, as you have described him. I will make sure that said man will take the stairs from now on. If I might say so, after a long discussion with the dangerously attractive man, I have come to the conclusion that he might like meeting you there as well, since no one else is going to take the stairs anyway.
Elevators have always been a little bit too risky, haven’t they? Not that you would mind.
Best regards and once again sorry for the inconvenience,
Kim Juhoon

Dear Mr Kim,
With all due respect, you’re full of shit.
Best regards,
Edwards Martin
“Are you sure that you don’t want to come?”
"Really. I'm busy," Martin lies as he walks alongside Seonghyeon. As much as he wants to spend time with Seonghyeon outside of work, he would rather do so comfortably seated on a couch, playing some stupid board game he has never heard of and not when other colleagues will be around as well.
He can feel Seonghyeon’s eyes linger on him. Something tells him that Seonghyeon is sensing the lie, knowing damn well that he’s Martin's only recent social contact. But he doesn’t press it either, which Martin appreciates much more than he probably lets him know.
“Okay then, I will try to save some cupcakes for you,” Seonghyeon says with so much honest enthusiasm that Martin has the strange urge to stop and hug him. How did he end up with a best friend that always respects his boundaries, likes throwing parties for people because he apparently likes them and then proceeds to happily bake cupcakes for 20 people? Literally, how?
“The ones with the chocolate frosting?”
“Of course the one with the chocolate frosting!”
“I love you so much, Seonghyeon,” Martin says with an exaggerated dreamy expression. “Do you think Keonho would mind if I asked him to give me his blessings?”
Seonghyeon’s laugh is as bright and smile-eliciting as always as he pushes open the door to the big meeting room, holding it open for Martin. “He would certainly not agree. He knows what a catch I am.”
Martin gives Seonghyeon a friendly nudge as he walks past him, already dreading the next few hours he's going to be stuck inside this room. At least the view is nice and the tables are arranged in a way that no one will catch him playing Solitaire on his work iPad. (God, he has a fucking work iPad. What has become of the college kid that used to sleep until 2 pm on weekdays?)
Seonghyeon on the other hand seems way too eager for someone who knows he will be listening to random people in suits talk about numbers and stuff for half of their work day. And Martin is well aware that random people in suits talking about numbers and stuff isn't quite the motivated tone he should be striving for, but he never listens to much of these meetings and he's always been fine at the end.
(Not taking into consideration that Seonghyeon always has to tell him all the important details throughout the next couple of weeks until the next meeting.)
Martin watches Seonghyeon take out his whole ass laptop and open his special note-taking program while he slaps down his iPad on the table with as much grace as he can muster, which quite honestly isn't a lot. Instead, his mind keeps wandering off to completely work-unrelated places, like if he has turned off the oven this morning, what he should watch after work and how Juhoon would look dressed in nothing but his-
"Why is Mr Kim here?" Seonghyeon whispers urgently next to him, trying to gain his attention by nudging his foot.
“Hm?” Martin responds an octave too high, which earns him a confused look from Seonghyeon.
"Mr Kim is here," he repeats unhelpfully, as Martin's eyes are already frantically scanning the room for their boss.
“Why?” Martin manages in a somewhat normal tone. His gaze finally lands on Juhoon, who is currently talking to their head of department near the door. His lithe body is trapped in a suit that has probably been tailored by an Italian designer and it shows. Only Juhoon could not wear a tie, have the top buttons of his dark blue shirt opened and still look like he owns this entire place.
Martin barely catches Seonghyeon’s answer, his mind going wild. “Well, I don’t know. Maybe to check in on our department,” he says with a shrug that is probably supposed to be nonchalant. But Martin knows better. Seonghyeon’s shoulders are tense and his back straighter than usual. Unlike Martin, he actually does care about doing well in this job and impressing his boss can never do any harm.
Well. Martin has effortlessly found an entirely unconventional way of doing exactly that. Though only thinking about Seonghyeon finding out about this gives him, as the kids say these days, the creeps. So he simply stops thinking about it, which would usually present itself as an impossible challenge, but appears to be much easier when the guy you’re secretly fucking is standing right in your field of vision, looking all sexy and put-together.
This meeting is either going to pass very quickly or be drawn out for much longer than it has ever felt, Martin can’t tell just yet.
The whole room gradually goes quiet as people start noticing the presence of the head of the company. And Martin can’t lie, Juhoon having that impact on a room full of people is, for the lack of a better word for it, fucking sexy. There’s this presence about him that somehow never fails to catch everyone’s attention, no matter if they know about Juhoon’s status. And to think about how Martin has the privilege to see even just the slightest hint of the real Juhoon makes him feel a kind of special he can’t quite describe.
Though this is probably just in his head. But once again, Martin can escape cloudy thoughts by looking at the dark-eyed Adonis at the front of the room. (Martin slightly regrets always forcing Seonghyeon to sit as far back as possible now.)
As soon as Juhoon opens his perfectly shaped mouth, the whole room is captivated. He could be talking about a smudge on his car window and everyone would hold their breath to listen to his voice, drifting through the room like a love spell. Martin can barely imagine someone in this room not being lulled by it, though the looks on his colleague's faces are not ones of desire. What Martin catches in their eyes is deep respect, sometimes envy even.
Martin tries to listen to Juhoon’s motivational words, to the praise for this department that is, well, praising enough to be encouraging but also settled enough to motivate everyone to strive for even more. Every time Martin catches a quick glimpse of Seonghyeon, he sees his eyes glowing with determination and can’t help but find it endearing.
But most of the time, he isn’t looking at Seonghyeon. For once, he doesn’t feel like he has to be too careful admiring his boss, since everyone else in the room is practically doing the same, though with different intentions. Martin watches Juhoon’s eyes wander through the room, making everyone feel seen. He likes to imagine that they linger on him for just a millisecond longer, noticing him more than anyone else in the room. It’s just an illusion but the thought of it does weird little things to Martin's heart.
Well, time to ignore those and think about what Juhoon’s hands would feel like on his hip instead of flying through the air in a perfect middle-ground between engaging but not too pushy, underlining the points Martin isn’t completely listening to.
He can’t even tell for how long the meeting is going on, for his trusty iPad is lying locked in front of him for the whole process. Seonghyeon would surely comment on Martin's unusual active attendance if he weren’t completely focused on every single word their boss is saying.
Juhoon eventually ends his presentation with the verbal equivalent of an encouraging pat on the back and the room breaks into approving mumbles and even some stray claps, which even Martin finds a little too ambitious.
"Do you think it would be weird to get upfront and talk to him?" Seonghyeon asks in a whisper, eyes glued to Juhoon.
“I’ll come with you,” Martin says without thinking it through any further and is already getting up. This time, Seonghyeon catches the sudden eagerness but settles on a confused smile.
“Do you have something to say to him?”
“Uhh….no I thought I’d be your…” he makes a vague motion with his hands that says exactly nothing, “emotional support?”
Seonghyeon blinks at him, slowly. “That’s…nice?”
"Yes, let's go," Martin says hastily and dashes towards the front of the room before Seonghyeon can notice the blood rushing to his face. What he didn't quite consider yet is that half-running away from Seonghyeon also means running towards Juhoon.
Thankfully, he is currently talking to the head of the department and Seonghyeon catches up to Martin quickly, looking like he’s already doubting this decision.
“He’s not going to bite,” Martin whispers to encourage Seonghyeon, knowing full well that under certain circumstances he does, indeed, bite.
Seonghyeon’s answer comes short as suddenly, Juhoon’s attention is on the two of them, a professional smile on his lips. God, why does everything about him has to be so fucking perfect?
“Do you have any questions about the presentation?" He asks in that friendly voice that manages to still convey his status in this company. His gaze jumps to Martin for just a second but it's enough to make the fine hairs on his arms stand up.
“Yes, actually I wanted to ask-“ Seonghyeon starts and then Martin doesn’t listen to what he asks. His attention gets caught somewhere else, somewhere meticulously styled hair meets a perfect jawline and a mouth Martin would give everything to kiss right now.
Juhoon's and Seonghyeon's voices waft through his brain through a thick layer of horny-induced cotton candy. Whatever that is supposed to mean, it doesn’t matter as long as he can be in Juhoon’s presence.
Something gives him the cue that the conversation between the two is over eventually, it’s probably Juhoon saying, “Thank you for your interest in the topic, we should catch up about it soon,” and Seonghyeon agreeing with an enthusiastic nod.
"Thank you, Mr Kim. I'm looking forward to it!”
And suddenly, Juhoon's eyes are on Martin, giving him the sudden urge to take a step back. "Mr Edwards, can I talk to you in private for a second?"
“Um…yeah. I mean, yes. Of course,” Martin stutters, not missing the concerned side-eye Seonghyeon gives him.
"I'll see you later," Seonghyeon says to Martin, giving his arm a light squeeze as he walks past him toward the door.
In the time it takes everyone to leave and someone else Martin has forgotten the name of, inserts himself into a conversation with Juhoon, he gets the chance to overthink absolutely everything.
Sure, this could just be one of those situations where as soon as everyone is out, Juhoon will stare deeply into his eyes, let his hands linger over Martin's hips, ask him for his consent in a very sexy way and as soon as Martin confirms with an eager nod, will push him against one of the tables and make out with him until they’re out of breath.
Or.
Juhoon would look at him all stern and serious and tell him that they can’t keep going on like this, that he can’t fuck one of his employees like it’s nothing and that he’s fired, never to be accepted to enter this building again.
And the longer he thinks about it, the more logical the second notion sounds.
“You look pale,” Juhoon’s voice rips him out of his spiralling thoughts and Martin barely holds back a shiver when Juhoon carefully places a finger under Martin's chin, tipping it up so that their eyes meet.
The room is finally empty apart from them.
“Do I?” He says, a tad shaky. Juhoon’s eyes linger on his, but the tension between them is not one that says I never want to see you near me again.
“You do. Paler than usual, I mean,” Juhoon confirms, his brows tipping downwards slightly. “Are you alright?”
“I was just…overthinking…the possibility that…,” he starts, before deciding that oversharing is most likely not very sexy to Juhoon. “Yeah, I’m alright.”
Juhoon’s gaze lingers worriedly for another second before his expression shifts again, a lopsided smile appearing on his face. Martin feels careful hands resting on his hips. Oh. Maybe he has been wrong all along.
“Is this okay with you, Martin?” Juhoon whispers, taking a step forward that somehow manages to be hesitant and confident all at once.
“It is. More than okay,” Martin breathes, his eyes already watching Juhoon’s lips spread into a full-on grin.
Electricity jumps between their bodies, pulling them into each other. Martin drowns in the feeling of hot lips on his own, hands searching his body for the best place to stay, restlessly deciding that wandering seems to be the best option after all. And Martin is okay with that. He wants them to wander forever, to find places that make his head spin and his heart shiver.
Only secondarily he feels the edge of the table dig into his legs, right below his butt. What distracts him from it is another sensation in the front, a strong thigh pushing itself between his legs. He's glad to have the support of the table behind him or else, he's sure, he would crumble down to the floor like the mess he is.
A silent, hesitant moan allows itself to slip over Martin's lips and Juhoon catches it with a grin, taking it as his sign to go further. Martin hasn’t been able to stop thinking about what happened in the elevator and now they can finally go further. He’s never been the patient kind.
With a movement that is a little clumsier than he likes to, Martin wraps his arms around Juhoon’s neck and pulls him closer, teeth dragging over soft lips and silent gasps slipping from one to another.
“It seems like someone’s been missing me,” Juhoon mumbles and Martin can feel the smirk on his lips against his own.
“It’s been hard watching you all this time without being able to touch you,” Martin admits as he opens his eyes just the slightest, just so he can look at Juhoon’s dark eyes and feel like he’s the only thing mattering in this exact moment.
“Then touch me now,” Juhoon groans into another kiss and Martin obeys as if it’s the thing he’s always been trained to do. His hands wander into Juhoon’s thick black hair, fingers raking through it and pulling hesitantly when the pressure between his legs grows, moving in a slow steady rhythm.
Under the unexpected pull, Juhoon twitches slightly and Martin hopes he interpreted the motion correctly, using all that's left of his brainpower to pull harder the next time.
And he’s been right, as it turns out.
Juhoon’s low groan shudders through Martin's body and he can’t help but pull him closer, have him closer, feel him closer.
He’s surprised at himself for sliding up onto the table with such ease, but can’t hold the emotion up for much longer. His legs wrap around Juhoon’s body as if there was any muscle memory it could be based on and Martin lives for the grin he can feel against his lips.
“You really want to get fucked badly, don’t you?” Juhoon whispers and leans away slightly, just so that he can get a better look at Martin. And even here, even with the two of them alone in this room, there’s still this overpowering presence about Juhoon that makes Martin want to dedicate his entire life to him.
“Do I really look that desperate?” Martin shoots back with an attempt of a laugh that sounds…well—desperate. He tries to cover it up by leaning forward again, trying to catch Juhoon’s lips, but his boss moves his head away smoothly, a mischievous grin on his face.
“You do. I like that expression on you.”
"Are you seriously going to let me suffer like that?" Martin says, trying to be all chill and sassy about it, but his insides are exploding in a burst of desire. He had hoped that Juhoon was joking, but the expression that slips onto his face makes him fear otherwise.
“What if the answer was yes?” Juhoon murmurs, keeping Martin pinned down with his gaze, making him unable to look away. Martin wants to object, but all the words leave his mind when Juhoon’s hand touches his cheek and the tip of his thumb runs over Martin's swollen lips.
“That’s what I thought,” Juhoon concludes with a grin that Martin wants to kiss off his face so badly, but all he can do is stare, stare at dark eyes full of lust. He knows his voice would betray him right now, so he decides to let actions speak instead.
With satisfaction he watches something inside of Juhoon’s eyes shift as the tip of his tongue runs over Juhoon’s thumb, making his bossy demeanour crumble for just the slightest hint of a second. One day he will crack it, Martin hopes.
“What? Trouble keeping your composure?” Martin allows himself to tease with a small grin, earning a defensive huff in return.
“You should consider being more careful with your words," Juhoon murmurs and Martin can't tell if the light outside changed or if his eyes went darker.
Martin doesn’t have the time to ask what he means. A jolt of pleasure shoots through his body when Juhoon’s hand suddenly rests on Martin's crotch, squeezing gently yet with confidence.
Martin can feel his legs wrapping tighter around Juhoon, urging him to keep going. His needs are met and he closes his eyes under the pleasure, lips parting slightly.
“Don’t,” Juhoon groans, his fingers wrapping a little tighter around Martin's jaw. “Look at me.”
Only reluctantly, Martin obeys. He'd rather let himself sink into this feeling, perceive nothing but Juhoon's hands, his lips; hear his breaths go heavier as he proceeds to fuck every sense left out of him. Though he can't exactly complain when his eyes flutter open again, admiring the way Juhoon looks at him as if fucking him is the only thing he ever wanted to do.
“Good,” Juhoon whispers with the satisfied ghost of a grin. His fingers become more daring, massaging Martin's erection that has been demanding more space ever since Juhoon touched him.
And Martin wants to tell him. He wants to tell him that every last aching cell of his body wants this. That he wants Juhoon to make him lose his entire self to his touches and whispered words of praise, to hot breath on his neck and cold fingers making him shiver.
But he doesn’t get to it.
Not when he hears the sound of a door opening behind Juhoon's back, a sound that he never thought would sound so grounding and utterly destructive.
“Oh, sorry I was-“ the intruder begins before cutting off abruptly and Martin doesn’t know if hearing Seonghyeon’s voice is a relief or the worst thing that has ever happened to him.
Martin doesn't watch Juhoon's reaction. All he knows is that there is a sudden lack of warmth surrounding him and that something inside of him signals him to slide off the table again.
“Seonghyeon, I-“ he begins, voice cracking, but he can’t keep talking when he sees his friend’s expression. Seonghyeon’s jaw drops slightly in shock as his eyes jump to his–their–boss before returning quickly as realisation sets in. And there’s something else. Something that isn’t quite anger, but Martin senses that it might be disappointment.
"I, um…wanted to…grab my laptop but, uh…" Martin has never seen him at such a loss for words, he realises as his body is taken over by cold. "You can just…get it to me later. I guess." He stands there for another second, hand still on the door handle as he avoids looking at the two people in front of him. "Uh. Sorry to interrupt." He mumbles and then he's gone, leaving only emptiness where he stood before.
Shit. Martin is fucked. He is so fucked.
