Harris: I know you guys are literally gearing up to play for the FUCKING STANLEY CUP
Troy: Harris might be more excited than us

Harris: Could be nice especially considering you just knocked them out of the playoffs

Lucy: Hey all! Super psyched you all agreed to do this video with us!
Lucy: We were hoping to film some before the 2nd game on Thursday. Harris tells me that everyone here will be in Ottawa to watch it so I got New York to comp me a ticket under the premise of “getting content”
Lucy: Partners feel free to come to the filming!
Scott: Sounds good, just let me know where to be and when
Eric: Yeah same for me
Shane: We’d have to do it pretty early in the morning if that’s okay
Ilya: Shane has very strict pre-playoffs ritual
Ilya: Is maybe a little bit crazy
Kip: When we first started dating Scott would need the same smoothie before every game so
Eric: Wait actually
Eric: I’d love to hear the hear the Shane Hollander playoff ritual
Scott: Me too
Scott: Maybe if I use it I’ll get another cup

Shane: Oh sure
Shane: So I wake up at 6, go for a quick two mile run, have my protein smoothie with breakfast, then I meditate for like an hour before taking a shower. Then I re-read chapters 4-8 of Gretzky’s bio. When I get to the rink I skate exactly four and half laps before morning skate. For lunch I have salmon and rice, then I call my mom and then I meditate another hour before we have to get ready for the game.
Shane: But we could probably fit the video in the reading time because I basically have it memorized now so I can read it in like an hour if needed.
Ilya: Sometimes he starts reciting it in his sleep!
Shane: I do not!
Shane: Do I?
Ilya: A few times yes sweetheart
Shane: Oh
Kyle: Wow
Kip: Why four and half laps?
Shane: Oh
Shane: The day before we played our first finals game in Montreal I was halfway through the fifth lap when Hayden interrupted me
Shane: Probably was good he did I would’ve skated forever I was so nervous
Fabian: And chapters 4-8?
Shane: Same reason, I was re-reading it before the first finals to relax and that’s how much I got through
Scott: You know Hollzy all things considered its not that crazy
Eric: I think the craziest part is that it hasn’t changed since you were like 19
Ilya: Well
Shane: Ilya.
Ilya: There was a small change very recently
Troy: Jesus here we go
Ilya: Shane and I have never woken up in the same bed before finals until yesterday….
Harris: Nope
Harris: End of discussion
Harris: Lucy is new and not used to this we will not traumatize her

Happy Pride Month! We talked with some Queer hockey players about their experience with being LGBTQ. Here’s what they had to say

Harris: Okay thanks for being here guys, first question we are gonna start off with a light one, who was your gay awakening?
Ilya: Shane should go first
Shane: Fuck you but fine, okay, my gay awakening was, and this is gonna inflate his ego even more, but my gay awakening was Ilya
*group laughs*
Scott: Hollzy are you serious?
Shane: Yes
Shane: Someone else please go now
Ryan: Okay actually mine’s similar, it was Fabian when we were teenagers I billeted with his family for a while
Scott: Wait, you've been with Fabian since high school?
Ryan: No, no we met again later in Toronto
Ryan: I wish I had been with him that long though
Ilya: You all are boring
Shane: Okay then who was yours
Ilya: Mhmm I cannot say, it is someone I knew in Russia
Ryan: That’s more boring

Lucy: Okay moving on Troy who was yours?

Troy: So we had a game in LA this winter and Rose Landry was there so some of us met up with her cause she’s Hollzy’s best friend or whatever. Anyway we go to this karaoke bar and get a private room and towards the end of the night Ilya and Rose put on a performance of Vogue that was just spectacular
Shane: They were dancing and everything
Ilya: *is covering his face* I hate you both
Scott: Is there a video?
Harris: I’ll show you after!
Eric: I think the gayest thing I’ve ever done is buying a gay bar?

Troy: The gayest thing I’ve ever done is probably coming out on literal pride night

Shane: Okay so this kind of an inside joke for me and her, but the gayest thing I’ve done was date Rose Landry
Lucy: We’ll accept it
Lucy: Okay last question for everyone what makes you proud to be queer
Harris: And you cannot all just answer with your partners names
Ilya: But Harris
Harris: Nope everyone knows how much you guys love them I want a different answer
Troy: So if I said that what makes me proud is my super hot boyfriend who shows the world exactly who he is all the time, you wouldn’t accept it?
Harris: *quietly* well
Lucy: Don’t let him seduce you Harris, no Tory we don’t accept
Troy: Fine then I guess I am proud of my teammates for having the courage to stand-up to the league and squash their rivalry because they love each other.
Shane: *bright red* Thank you Troy
Ilya: I am also proud of my teammate for coming out even though he had spent so long hiding and for making himself a better person everyday. And of course my Shane for everything he does for ever and ever
Shane: *still bright red* Um same as them two
Harris: I can’t even be mad at this it’s too cute
Shane: Wait also I’m proud of everyone who’s an ally even when it’s hard. It makes me proud to be gay when I have that support. Supporting us even if it means personal sacrifice means a lot so yeah I’m proud of that. Is that allowed?
Lucy: Allys are allowed to celebrate and be celebrated too
Shane: Okay good so yeah the allys, the team, my parents, Hayden, JJ, everyone whose an ally I'm proud of you!
Eric: I guess I’m proud of New York. The city is always so supportive and yeah for all my New York gays I'm proud of you and how deeply you’ve committed yourself to the community. I love you!
Scott: I am proud of everyone who’s still in the closet, whenever you’re ready we’re here
Ryan: I am proud of all the people in this room and of Toronto the city, not the team, and the allys, and the people in the closet, and Fabian.
Lucy: Wow
