'Umbrellas are for wimps!' Shouted Max.
'Don't run, you'll slip' fretted Miranda.
The rain was muggy and humid, making her feel even more soggy. Give her cold British rain any day. They halted by the hotel's small swimming pool and Max pointed excitedly.
'Empty pool, lets go!'
Miranda sighed. Was there anything that Max wasn't going to take from this hotel? They were on duty and had only stopped to interview a suspect. He'd already eaten the free mints from reception.
'It's raining for fucks sake!'
'We're already wet!' he shouted.
Urgh, Max logic.
'Fine.'
She peeled off her shirt, tugged off her trousers, the rain was torrential but she saw that Max was already jumping into the pool. Idiot.
She slipped in and swam under. The world blurred and shifted, shapes appearing out of the mist, a muffled rumbling in her ears. Could peaceful be described as turbulent? She wasn't sure but somehow it was. She swam around him, under and over to the other side, emerged like a seal up by the deep end.
Max was impressed.
'Attach a shark fin to your back and I'll you loose in the big pool, that'll get them running' he shouted.
Miranda rolled her eyes.
'Don't give the game away.'
'What?' He blinked confusedly. He wasn't seriously suggesting it.
'Just in case you and Roberto have nothing to do on your evening off.'
His eyes lit up.
'Ooooh I like it. I like it a lot.'
Men were so easy to keep occupied, thought Miranda.
