Chapter Text
This was it. Today was finally the day that Camembert had put that smug asshole down in his place, the day that he would be victorious against that goddamn blood sausage after so long of being played by him. Finally, he had gotten him right where he wanted him, beaten down on the ground, knocked out, KOed. Now he can prove to him who is the superior master around this block and how it was always meant to be him.
And yet, this feeling was only fleeting, temporary even. Something didn't quite add up to what he was looking for. The way his posture looked, the fact he barely fought back, the severe lack of his annoying little teases in his one liners. Had Camembert gone too far? Beating someone helpless, down on their luck, all to prove he's better? Black Pudding, by all means, was already very worn out before this confrontation. This fight was always gonna be rigged in his favor because it never should've happened, he picked on Black Pudding at the absolute worst time, and now this victory feels hollow.
With this conclusion in mind, what was once a proud, prideful expression turned into one of annoyance. Camembert punches down on the ground next to Black Pudding's head, creating a large crack in the pavement without breaking his own fist.
"GODDAMMIT!" He screamed out. "What the hell's the matter with you!? You couldn't have even honored me with a proper fight this time!?"
Black Pudding was too exhausted to really say much of anything, though Cam could clearly tell he was not doing very well, looking like he could pass out anytime soon.
"Ugh, nothing? No quip, anything? This is pissing me off..."
Again, no response, he just kind of looked at him with lethargy, without his strength he really couldn't tell him what was the matter.
"Fine, just, nod or shake your head when I ask you something, alright?" Camembert requested in a more hesitant tone. He wanted to put more stern in his voice, but he knew being this uppity over a tired man wasn't gonna get him anywhere.
"Did you get any sleep last night?"
Black Pudding shakes his head.
"What about drink? Did you drink anything? Water?"
Black Pudding shakes his head.
"And let me guess, no food either?"
Black Pudding... does not shake his head, but finally spoke up muttering weakly "Why does this matter to you so much anyways?"
"Because I could've fucking killed you, you moron! What kind of captain goes out on patrol without anything!? Do you have any self respect!?"
Black Pudding looked rather shocked by the response he got back. Camembert, the spoiled, pampered brat actually caring about someone else's wellbeing aside from his own? That's something he had never seen from the young master before, perhaps there is more to his cheesiness than he lets on.
"Well, do you?"
"I can't.. I don't... It's complicated... Not like you of all people would get it."
Reluctantly, Camembert got down on his knees and brought his hand down towards Black Pudding in a gesture the latter was not quite used to from him. Instead of a knuckle sandwich, it was an invitation to perhaps get an actual sandwich for him. After all, Cam was not just about to leave him there all crumbled and weak like that, even if it is what he wanted. He wants to fight him at his strongest, which means taking care of his basic needs and regaining his original strength.
And if Black Pudding's not gonna bother, then Camembert will.
"Get up." He sternly commanded.
"We're getting you something to eat."
