Chapter Text
Mococo liked to think she lived a pretty normal life, relatively speaking.
Sure, her profession as a streamer was slightly unusual, but in the modern age, she was ultimately just one in a sea of endless others. And sure, she still lived with her sister, but she was sure that most twins do that, too.
That was why waking up in an unfamiliar room with no recollection of how she had gotten there was by far the strangest thing she had experienced.
Okay, aside from maybe that one summer all the way back, but that was neither here nor there.
Sitting straight on the bed, Mococo looked around the room. It was small and mostly empty. The walls and ceiling were white, a single bed covered in soft pink sheets, a nightstand with a lamp, and a wooden wardrobe.
“Fuwawa…?”
Mococo softly called out for her sister. She was alone in the room, as far as she could see, but given the situation, she couldn’t entirely rule out the chance that Fuwawa was hiding in the wardrobe or something.
Unsurprisingly, she received no answer.
As she stepped off the bed, she thought back to her last waking moment. She and Fuwawa had done a 3D stream at the studio, and by the time they got back home, it had been quite late, so they both hit the hay pretty quickly. And next thing she knew, she was here.
Mococo’s gaze turned downwards. She had gone to bed wearing one of her pajamas, and yet she was now wearing her usual streaming outfit. She tried not to think about the implications.
Her gaze finally turned towards one of the walls, at the only door in the room.
No other options, I guess.
Slowly, she turned the door handle. It wasn’t locked. Good. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and stepped out.
Mococo found herself at the end of an empty hallway. To the immediate right of the door was a dead end, and to the left were more doors on either side of the hallway–
And one in the wall straight ahead.
Quietly, she made her way forward to the door nearest to her. Her hand gripped the handle.
It was locked.
She made her way to the next door. Just as she was about to try opening it, her ears picked up on a sound coming from further down the hallway. From behind the last door, the sound of conversations could be heard.
Mococo quietly made her way to the end of the hallway. As she walked, she eyed the other doors. Including the room she woke up in, there were 5 other doors. Two on the left, and three on the right. Her ears didn’t pick up any sounds from any of them.
She finally reached the last door of the hallway. The voices were clearer now. Two people, and they both sounded familiar.
Pushing the door open, Mococo entered the room. It appeared to be a common room of sorts. A couple of sofas around a coffee table, a black rug, and through an archway was a… kitchen?
More importantly, though, were the people in the room. Her eyes locked with a pair of soft pink eyes, belonging to someone whose face was a near-perfect mirror of her own face.
“Fuwawa!” Mococo exclaimed in relief. A smile graced her face, and she started to approach her sister. That was when Fuwawa suddenly lunged at her, throwing herself over the sofa. The motion was so sudden that Mococo fell backwards, her head hitting the wall.
“Ow… What the heck, Fuwawa?”
Rubbing her head, Mococo looked up at her sister–
And found a set of light blue claws embedded in the wall right above her head.
Mococo’s eyes opened wide. Looking behind the claws, she found her sister glaring down at her, those familiar pink eyes filled with contempt.
“F– Fuwawa?”
“You…!” Fuwawa snarled. “So this was your doing!?”
Mococo barely managed to roll out of the way as Fuwawa swiped at her with her other hand.
That strike had been targeted at her neck.
Mococo’s breath hitched as she watched her sister pull out her claws from the wall.
“W– What are you doing!?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Fuwawa scoffed, malice leaking out of her voice. “I’m trying to kill you.”
“W–What?”
Mococo threw her body sideways as Fuwawa once again swiped her claws at her. And another. And then another. She somehow barely managed to avoid all of her sister’s attacks.
Her luck eventually ran out, though. Before she knew it, she found herself at the corner of the room, her back to the wall. Fuwawa didn’t hesitate at all as she lunged at her.
“N–no!”
Mococo let out a shriek. Her eyes closed in fear, and she raised her arms to try to defend herself.
The pain never came.
Lowering her hands, Mococo found Fuwawa’s claws in front of her face. Pitch black ink wrapped around her sister’s arms and body, locking her in place.
“Now, now, puppies, let’s all calm down, okay?” A voice drawled out.
“Shiori…!” Mococo gasped in relief.
Behind her sister, their friend stood with her arms crossed, grimoire floating next to her as ink spilled through its pages. Mococo scuttered out of the corner and away from Fuwawa as the elder twin spoke up in anger.
“Shiori! Why are you stopping me!?”
“Why are you trying to kill Mococo?” Shiori replied with her own question. It was only then that Mococo realized that Shiori wasn’t dressed in her usual style. Instead, her two-toned friend was dressed in a black set of formal military attire. Looking at her sister, Mococo found that she too was dressed weirdly. A tattered grey cloak, with similarly tattered pieces of clothing underneath.
“Why!?” Fuwawa snarled. “You know why!”
“Well, I don’t.”
“She killed Biboo and Nerissa!” Her elder sister snarled. “She’s a fucking traitor, that’s why!”
“Wha–” At this point, Mococo was beyond confused. She had woken up in a weird room, her sister had tried to kill her, everyone was dressed weirdly, and apparently, she had killed two of her friends?
“Oh, really?” Shiori’s voice broke her thoughts. Her friend pointed behind them, at the door. “I don’t know about you, but they look very much alive to me?”
At Shiori’s words, Mococo turned around. Sure enough, Biboo and Nerissa were standing there, looking at them in confusion. Both of them were dressed in their usual attire, though Nerissa… had both her horns intact?
“Um… what’s going on?” Biboo asked. Next to her, Nerissa followed.
“...Who are you people?”
“Biboo… Nerissa…” Fuwawa muttered quietly. Her gaze was locked on the last two members of Advent. “But… how?”
“Interesting situation we’ve found ourselves in, isn’t it?” Shiori declared with an easygoing grin. Finally setting Fuwawa free, she continued. “Before we all kill each other, how about we introduce ourselves, eh? I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t think we’re quite all on the same page.”
Mococo’s eyes darted between Shiori and Fuwawa, one in confusion and the other in caution. What was the point of an introduction? They all knew each other already. Receiving no answer, Shiori spoke up again.
“No one? Well, fine. I guess I’ll start,” Shiori shrugged helplessly. She appeared amused by the whole situation. “Shiori Novella, at your service. Royal Archiver, Enforcer of Order, and Leader of Justice.”
Leader of Justice.
At that point, Mococo wanted nothing more than to go home.
