I Want It to Be You

Summary:

Yuji thought he was a Beta.
He was wrong.

And Megumi isn’t nearly as in control as he believed.

Work Text:

For Yuji Itadori, the world had always been simple.

He was a Beta. Just a Beta, with no particular expectations.

No scent worth noticing, no instincts spiraling out of control, no complications.
A linear, easy life. Or at least, that’s what he had always believed.

Megumi Fushiguro, on the other hand, was the opposite.

Megumi carried his Alpha nature like a silent shadow: deep, woody pheromones, with hints of rain-soaked earth and cedarwood. He had never needed to use them.
His presence alone was enough.

And yet, despite everything, he had never cared about secondary genders. It had never mattered to him.
That was why Yuji was his boyfriend. Yuji wasn’t his secondary gender - Yuji was Yuji.

And that was enough.

They had been together for almost two years now.

They were close, comfortable with each other. It wasn’t unusual for them to spend days together without interruption.

But that afternoon, something shifted.

“Meg… I’m hot.”

Yuji complained from the bed, one hand resting on his forehead, his breathing slightly uneven.
His cheeks were flushed.

Megumi had already made sure he was fine, and after concluding it was just a simple fever, he had decided to let the dramatics continue.

“It’s just a fever.” The Alpha replied, absently running a hand through his hair while continuing to read. “It’s hot today, too.”

“That’s not normal.” Yuji muttered, turning onto his side to look at him. “It’s different.”

Megumi sighed quietly. Typical Yuji. His boyfriend had always been a little dramatic - especially when he wasn’t feeling well.

He closed the book, more out of habit than concern.

“Do you want to check your temperature again?”

He asked, already standing up to grab the thermometer.

But when he stepped closer to the bed, he froze.

A scent.

Sweet.

Too sweet.

Roses and cotton candy.

The thermometer slipped from his fingers, hitting the floor. Megumi didn’t even hear it - too focused on resisting that scent that seemed to pull him in.

His body reacted before his mind could catch up.

He staggered toward the bed, gripping the sheets tightly. His canines throbbed, a dull ache that quickly turned into something sharper. Something demanding.

Yuji was panting, eyes half-lidded, his body restless with a heat he couldn’t contain.
He blinked slowly, noticing how close Megumi was. The way he was looking at him.

“Megumi…” He whispered.

Then, a moment later, the word slipped out.

“Alpha…”

That was enough.

Something inside Megumi snapped.

A primal instinct, raw and brutal - nothing like he had ever felt before.

Mate.
Claim him.
Take him.

His inner Alpha was raging, and Megumi had never heard it this loud.

Before he could even process it, Yuji was pinned beneath him.
Megumi held him down, his body rigid, his breathing heavy.

His eyes - dark, too dark - locked onto him.

The scent intensified.

Sweet.
Inviting.
Dangerous.

“Yuji…” Megumi’s voice was low, almost a growl. “What… is this…?”

Yuji trembled beneath him, fingers clutching at his shirt.

“I don’t know…” He gasped, pulling him closer. “It hurts… I need… Megumi…”

It wasn’t a fever.

It had never been.

Megumi swallowed hard, trying to hold on to his control.

But his Alpha pushed, snarled inside him.

It was obvious now.

Too obvious.

“Omega…” He whispered, more to himself than to Yuji.

A late-presenting Omega.

And completely unprepared.

Yuji’s eyes widened slightly, confused, vulnerable in a way Megumi had never seen before.

And that made everything worse.

Yuji hadn’t just presented - he had gone into heat. His first heat.

And Megumi wanted him.

Not in a simple, human way.

But in something older. Something instinctive.

His fingers tightened.

Yuji shuddered.

“Megumi…”

A call.
An invitation.

A mistake.

Megumi closed his eyes for a moment, fighting himself.

When he opened them again, they were darker. Almost black.

He claimed Yuji’s lips.

It was a rough kiss, almost animalistic, his canines grazing against Yuji’s softer mouth.

The kiss overwhelmed him, but Yuji didn’t stay still. After a brief hesitation, he moved against him—seeking him.

“If you don’t want this, push me away.” Megumi breathed against his lips, almost pleading. “Do it now, while I can still stop.”

Yuji froze for a second - then grabbed his collar, pulling him closer, desperate.

“I want it to be you.”

Yuji smiled faintly, even as he trembled.

He didn’t understand what was happening to his body. But one thing was clear:

He wasn’t afraid of him.

Megumi inhaled that impossible scent.

And realized two things at once.

That Yuji had never been a Beta.

And that he… had never been as in control as he thought.

Megumi breathed in deeply.

And didn’t stop.

His lips found Yuji’s again, but this time it wasn’t just instinct - it was something deeper, something inevitable. Control slipped through his fingers like sand, and every attempt to hold onto it only dragged him further under.

Yuji held his breath when he felt him so close.

Too close.

His fingers tightened in Megumi’s collar, as if letting go was no longer an option.

“Megumi…” His name came out broken, softer, more fragile.

Megumi paused - just for a moment.
Long enough to find his eyes.
Long enough to give him a choice.

“Tell me to stop.”

His voice trembled, rough, barely held together.

Yuji shook his head.

A small movement. Certain.

“Stay.”

That was all it took.

The world narrowed around them, reduced to the growing heat, to the contact that became harder and harder to ignore. Yuji’s breath broke against his shoulder, uneven, searching for something he couldn’t name.

Megumi felt it.

And stopped fighting.

His hands moved hesitantly at first, as if every touch was still a question. But Yuji didn’t pull away. If anything, he leaned into him, meeting him, seeking him with a trust that hurt as much as everything else.

Their clothes slipped to the floor, unnoticed.

The warmth between their bodies made them tremble, made them want more.

The rest blurred.

Into heat.
Into breath.
Into the way everything became too much - too close, too intense, too real.

Megumi pressed his forehead to Yuji’s, just for a moment, as if it were the last clear thing he could hold onto.

Then that faded too.

Fingers tightened.
Breath broke.

And Yuji stopped being able to think, letting himself be carried by sensation.

His last thought was that he finally felt whole.

Then that faded too.

Silence came slowly.

Not all at once, but settling between them bit by bit, as Yuji’s breathing tried to even out against his chest.

Megumi didn’t move right away.

He stayed there, body still tense, one hand pressed against Yuji’s back as if letting go wasn’t an option.

“Yuji…” His voice was lower than usual. Rough.

No immediate answer.

Just warmth.

Then Yuji shifted slightly, a small movement against him, and a tired breath slipped from his lips.

He was there.

Megumi closed his eyes for a moment.

And breathed.

Slower, this time.

His fingers finally relaxed, moving more carefully now along Yuji’s back. He pulled the sheets over him without thinking.

That’s when he noticed.

The fabric under his hand was torn.

Megumi stilled.

He looked down.

The sheets were pulled tight, ruined, the fabric giving way beneath his fingers as if it had been gripped too hard.

For a moment, he said nothing.

His breath caught again - but for a different reason.

He hadn’t even noticed.

“…Megumi?”

Yuji’s voice reached him softly.

Megumi looked up immediately, still tense.

“I…” He hesitated, as if the words were heavy. “I tore them.”

Silence.

Then Yuji blinked slowly, looking at the sheets… and let out a soft laugh, still broken by his breathing.

Not loud. Not really.

But enough to surprise them both.

“Are you serious?” He murmured, still out of breath.

Megumi stared at him for a second, caught off guard.

Then, unexpectedly, something in him loosened.

A breath.

The hint of a smile.

And then a short, incredulous laugh, almost restrained.

The tension cracked.

It didn’t disappear.

But it became lighter.

The stiffness in his shoulders didn’t fade - but it changed.

Megumi leaned down slightly, brushing a hand through his hair with more care than before.

He pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

“Did I hurt you?”

The question came out more honest than he meant it to.

Yuji shook his head slowly.

“I’m okay…” He murmured, seeking him again, if only to lean closer.

Megumi stayed there.

This time, without fighting.

But without pretending he still had control.

Yuji pressed closer against him.

For a moment, the rest of the world didn’t exist.

They were enough.
