Magic. Arthur had heard him say.
Magic. Arthur had watched him do.
Magic.
Magic.
“-Thur?” Arthur heard him call.
Him. Arthur’s bumbling manservant. The fool. The klutz. The most useless manservant Arthur Pendragon had ever known, Merlin.
The loyal, brave, brilliant, Handsome-
Handsome?
Merlin, the same Merlin that Arthur had watched grow from a bumbling boy, unsteady in his new place in the Royal household, to the self-assured – handsome man Arthur knew today, had magic.
The very same magic Arthur had been taught was destructive.
Had watched it be destructive.
Merlin, Arthur’s dearest, most loyal friend, had magic.
The same magic that had corrupted Morgana.
The same magic that killed his father.
Merlin had Magic.
And yet –
Arthur was still alive.
Merlin had magic, for lord knows how long.
Yet, Arthur was still alive.
Arthur couldn't breath.
In. Out. In. Out. Magic. Merlin. Magic. In. Out. Magic. Merlin. Merlin. Magic. Merlin has Magic.
Merlin has Magic?
Merlin wouldn't hurt Arthur.
Would he?
He hadn't yet. Not that Arthur would have noticed himself being enchanted or spelled for the hundredth time.
Had Merlin done any of those?
Every time Arthur had been spelled. Every time Arthur had been enchanted. Merlin had been right there.
Right there beside him, Merlin was always beside him.
Would Merlin enchant him?
Merlin was trying to show Arthur something. Arthur didn't know what. He was speaking before he'd even realized he'd opened his mouth.
"Don't be daft Mer lin, you can't. You cannot have Magic΅ Arthur heard himself say. He didn't feels real. It sounded to him as if someone else was saying it.
"What? Arthur, I just showed you. I have mag-" Merlin started, but Arthur cut him off.
"No Merlin, be realistic. You cannot have magic. I would have noticed if you had magic,"
And yet,
The thought should have reassured Arthur. If Merlin had magic, Arthur would have noticed. Yet, the more Arthur thought about it. Merlin having magic was possible.
Everytime Arthur had been enchanted, something brought him out of it. As if someone had always known the answer.
It was like magic, he'd once thought. How he survived all of these impossible feats.
Merlin had Magic?
Merlin had Magic.
