The Fallen King

Summary:

Alexandria learns of some news in her dreams and feeling a pane of guilt, she goes with the three that saved her to the spirit dimension to visit the one King she thought she hated.

Notes:

I need to address something. Elliot censors his last KiY iteration before the emotionless F was introduced and another character's name. Alexandria, with her infinite knowledge she shares with D3rlord3 in our roleplay universe, doesn't use censors and there will be a more in depth explanation in the future as to why she doesn't use censors.

Work Text:

"Are you sure you want to do this, Alexandria?" The oldest out of the three asked the entity standing before them.

"I didn't realize what he was going through and I feel a pane of guilt inside of my heart that I wasn't aware of before. It's the right thing to do as I saw the next iteration of the King in Yellow and they have a God-complex which I'll worry about later. I have to do this. I need to apologize to Flowers," she responded.

"If this is what you truly desire, we'll take you to the spirit dimension to see him. But you can't stay for very long as you don't belong there so we'll ring a bell to signal you when you have to leave.."

"Will you allow my conversation with him to be private? This is only meant for him to hear."

"We will allow it."

Alexandria bowed a slight 90° angle to the Sacred Ones.

"Thank you," she spoke.

She follows Them close behind like she has done as the years stacked up on her immortal life. She's a worshipper of Them after They helped her escape Carcosa and granted her a new body that helps contain all of the knowledge she was given after she read the play. This was the least that she can do to repay the Sacred Ones.

But recent events have happened in the last few days and one of the many iterations of the King in Yellow have died and another one took their place. This one was already giving her standoffish vibes, doesn't have emotions but will act like they do, and they have a God-complex which she'll have to figure out on her own time.

She's going to the spirit world to apologize to the fallen king. Her prejudice had gotten the better of her and hated him without a clear reason.

She needed to make things right.

All four of them reached a glowing gray portal that swirls around the area it resides in. The portal of the spirit dimension.

The Sacred Ones step aside to let her go through the portal first and Alexandria followed Their order, walking through the inter-dimensional portal after closing the distance between her and the portal.

She emerages from the other side with Them behind her. The spirit dimension hasn't changed much since she was last here 50 years ago to see her descendants.

"Go on ahead, Alexandria. We'll be close by in case you need us and if we need to pull you out," the youngest one spoke.

"Thank you," she responded and walked away from Them towards where Flower's soul was.

The spirit dimension was nothing but a white and pink landscape and it felt liminal.

It doesn't change much and it is a place where lost souls go when the afterlife either rejects them or they aren't decided to go to the underworld or the One's paradise upstairs.

She saw in her dreams that this is where Flower's is now is. And she was going to apologize to him for the way she acted when he was still alive before the new king, F, took over as the new iteration.

She climbed over some hills in her heeled leather boots which where a bit of a challenge for her since she does not have the power of flight nor wings to help her navigate the dimension.

She sees a washed out yellow thing in the distance. It was Flowers. She had reached him.

The guilty feeling returned and struck her heart with precise angling and force.

Alexandria took a deep breath to compose herself and approached the dead king.

Flower's didn't react when she approached him. Almost like something in the spirit dimension was punishing him for what he did. She stopped a distance away from It.

"I know you know why I am here and if you have forgotten, I have come to apologize to you," she began her monologue.

She sighs, "All of my time as an entity I always thought you were the one that I was at war with. The one King that tormented me and gave me the knowledge. It turns out my own blinded hatred was the cause of your death and I didn't even realize you were experiencing self doubt."

Silence

"I know you can't speak right now. Believe me, it's better off this way that you listen to what I have to say, Flowers,"

She turned to the right side, looking at the sky.

"I am not a queen and it's better off that way despite me falling in love with a prince from another world though I have no desire to get married again."

"If you understand what I have been through, then I'm showing you sympathy by saying this: I hurt myself when the whispers get too much. Same as you."

She turns back around to face Flowers.

"I'm sorry for holding such venom against you. My hatred was the cause for you to no longer be there in the world of the living. Forgive me, Flowers,"

"The knowledge is something I can't fully control. I knew something like this would happen through my dreams and nightmares but I never intended for your death to start a new act. I don't know if D3rlord3 and I can handle this third act of this twisted play. I haven't told him yet I am here but since we share the same curse, he may know,"

"I still do feel like this is all my fault cause I hated you for no clear reason. For that, I offer you my apologies,"

She heard a bell ring in the distance.

Her time was up.

"I must return back to the land of the living. Thank you for listening," she said before turning around and running back the way she came to leave the spirit dimension with the Sacred Ones.
