Work Text:
I can tell it’s spring by the little things
Not only the chill mornings and boiling evenings
Instead I see how the world opens up
Ladybugs and moths,
spiders and beetles
all crawl out into the warm sun and green grass
The windows in the house are left open
The porch becomes a second home again
Winter coats get put away
Blankets get pushed to the edge of the bed
Cans of fizzy water scattered around
All cooling down the people
My classmates move our lunches outside
My siblings drag me to play
My friends invite us out
Spring is here,
and humans are crawling out of their torpor
just like all other animals
