Of Heck’s and Heffleys

Summary:

Crackship between Axl and Rodrick lmao

The Heffleys moved in on an early morning. This was the first sign for the Heck’s not to like them. Not to mention the oldest Heffley boy always causing trouble and playing those stupid drums 24/7. Axl tries to get him to quiet down, but instead becomes mutual enemies with him. There’s some tension and flustering, but everything wil be fine. Right?

Chapter Text

The Heck’s already knew there was trouble coming when the new family moved in next door at 6:55 AM on a Saturday. Let’s just say no one in the house was happy about the giant moving truck and all the noise.

“Honestly, who moves into a new neighbourhood at this time?” Frankie complained, still in her pjs, having been woken up from the rumbling outside.

“Just go back to bed and try to sleep through it.” Mike said, in his bathrobe and already moving back to the bedroom.

“Fine, but a new neighbour also means they expect me to make something edible and give it to them as a ‘ welcome gift’. I mean, it’s always important to make a good impression even if you already hate them from the start.” Frankie retaliated, while walking back with Mike into their bedroom.

Sue and Brick had both also been woken up by the sounds outside, but after looking at the time they both decided to go back to sleep. Axl as usual was dead to the world while everything was happening, and didn’t know anything about the new people in their neighbourhood.

Later, at a more reasonable time, around 10:30, the entire Heck family was in the kitchen eating breakfast. Frankie and Mike were drinking coffee with each a waffle from the toaster, while the kids were eating cereal.

That’s when they suddenly heard loud drums playing from outside their house. Frankie walked to the window and looked outside and saw the garage door across the street wide open with an edgy looking teenager very obnoxiously playing the drums.

“I can already tell that boy from the new neighbours is gonna be trouble. I mean, look at this! He’s playing drums at 10:30, and just look at how he’s dressed. Honestly, I can never get a break around here. Also I’m pretty sure he was wearing eyeliner?” Frankie said as she walked back into the kitchen to continue her breakfast.

“Just ignore it for now. Maybe they’ll be nice when you go over to introduce yourself.” Mike said while reading the newspaper.

Axl was texting Megan, a girl he had recently started dating who Frankie really didn’t like. Sue was eating and writing in her diary about how she was, well, eating, and Brick ate a few bites of his breakfast and then got distracted by a book which he picked up and started reading.

“Megan just texted me and says she wants to go out today, the ax-man is back in action people!” Axl said as he jumped up from the couch and made his way to his room to get dressed seeing as he was still in his underwear.

By early afternoon, after forcing herself through polite small talk which she hated, and mediocre cake delivery, Frankie had already introduced herself to the neighbours and brought them a ‘homemade’ cake. Basically it was just from a cake mix of which the only instructions were ‘add water’ but hey, if it’s made in your home its homemade right?

Anyway, she had met the new neighbours now known as the Heffleys. Susan and Frank Heffley had 3 sons, Rodrick, Greg and Manny Heffley. Frankie only met Susan and frank, not the kids, but she had a strong feeling in her gut the edgy one on the drums from that morning had been Rodrick. Based off what Frankie knows and has seen the Heffley family is okay-ish.

They’re obviously not as bad as the Glossners but then again, who really is? Frankie wasn’t a big fan of the Heffleys for now, but opinions can always change right? Who is she kidding, she’ll never be a fan of the Heffleys.

Speaking of people Frankie didn’t like, Megan had already dropped by for Axl to go on their date. Those two had been on and off and back on again for weeks now, and it was driving Frankie absolutely CRAZY. Every time Axl would say he was oh so in love with Megan and not even a week later he would be crying again because she broke up with him. Honestly, that relationship was more bipolar than the actual bipolar disease.

But anyway, with Axl out of the house, Mike at work, Brick at the library and Sue at Carly’s house, Frankie finally realised one thing:

She had an empty house all for herself!! Grabbing the rare opportunity, she grabbed some magazines and put on the tv for some little time for herself. The dishes will do themself later right?

In the middle of her TV show, the loud drumming started again. God she was already tired of this, and these people have only been here for what, 6 hours?! She really should do something about this, she really should.

Instead of actually going out there and ask them to turn it down tho, she just presumed her episode with the drumming as background noise, occasionally turning up the tv when the drumming overlapped too much.

That’s when Axl walked in the house, still texting on his phone.

“Oh hey, how did it go with Megan?” Frankie said with her gaze still pointed at the TV.

“Fine, she’s super hot so,” Axl said, not really paying attention to anything except his phone.

“Also, what the hell is up with all the drumming?” Axl finally looked up while saying that.

“New neighbours, their eldest son has been at this for basically all morning.” Frankie didn’t really care much anymore, she just wanted to watch her show and eat her frosting.

“Yeah well maybe tell them to stop because this is so annoying!” Axl yelled while walking down the hall to his bedroom.

Frankie sighed and thought about actually doing it but then blew that thought away in favour of her own happiness.

In Axl’s room, he was still texting with Megan even though they saw each other about half an hour ago. Megan was texting him about his homework, dietary plans, what he was gonna eat tonight, how many hours he was gonna study, etc etc.

Axl was pretty much done with all her strict rules he needed to follow in order to actually be in a relationship with her, but hey, let’s admit it, she’s hot as hell and popular too. A real catch if Axl would say so himself. So, he put up with all the demands and just smiled through them. Chinese instead of Spanish couldn’t be THAT bad, right? …right????

Moving on from that, the heavy metal music was really starting to bother him. How annoying could someone possibly be in a singular day? ‘Mom should really do something about it’ Axl thought, but let’s be fair, she always says she will but just stays on the couch. Should he let it be?? Should he do or say something about it?? Axl was stumped, he really didn’t know. ‘The super hot and sexy ax-man shouldn’t let something like this slide right? Imagine all the hot girls who also have to hear this monstrosity!’

Having made his choice, Axl walked out of his room and headed for the front door. Also, seeing as he’ll already be outside, might as well hang out with the guys right? As he walked by, Frankie asked where he was going.

“None of your business mom!” Axl yelped as he made a run for it.

Finally outside, he walked over to the open garage door with the emo with the drumset in it. Also, was the emo wearing eyeliner? Anyway, Axl walked up to the other teen and said:

“Quiet down that music will you? The moment you even hit a note, all of the birds in the country fly away. So loud and for what?” Ofcourse, edgelord retaliated.

“Oh no, the local underwear model has a problem with me playing my drums. Whatever will I do? Be happy your ears can even be blessed by my totally awesome music and skills. Also, who even are you?” The edgy guy responded mockingly.

“I live across the street dumbass. The whole neighbourhood now probably want to kill themselves, this music sucks. No one is getting blessed by this. I’m pretty sure my eardrums are ruptured now.”

“Just get out of my garage will you? Close the door on your way out if it bothers you so much.” Axl was pissed off enough, but he didn’t want to get grounded again so he accepted his loss for once.

“Fine, bye edgelord.” After that, Axl walked out of the garage and closed the garage door. Before he closed it tho, the weird emo yelled:

“My name’s Rodrick you asshole, not edgelord!” But at that point Axl couldn’t care less and just closed the door and walked away. A little sulkingly, Axl headed for the Donahue’s house. But just before he could knock on the door, the music started again, looking over, he saw Rodrick apparently opened the garage door again. Petty motherfucker.

“I mean honestly, who does he think he is? He just moved here today, and he already thinks he owns the whole neighbourhood!” Axl complained to Sean and Darrin. He was surprised to see Darrin already at Sean’s house, but it seemed like they just had the same idea of hanging out.

“That’s so not cool bro”

“Yeah, so not cool!” The guys said back to Axl.

Putting his thoughts about Rodrick off for now, Axl just watched TV with the guys and maybe also pulled off some stupid stunts outside with them. As long as his mom didn’t find out, he would be fine, right?
