Spares don’t usually get advisors, but his father thinks him particularly useless and is getting increasingly desperate.
“You wouldn’t have been my first choice,” the King sneers at Adam as he leaves the room. “But I expect you to keep my son in line.”
Great. Babysitting duty is just what Adam’s been aiming for his entire career.
“Arrogant prick,” Adam mutters, his eyes widening when he realises Fergus had heard him.
Fergus chokes out a laugh, a delighted smile replacing his frown. Adam smirks at him in response, relieved.
Perhaps this won’t be so bad after all, they both think.
