Lucifer was in so much pain. He had tried to make it silly and say it was just tickles. But then the pain was just unbearable, and felt like a reminder of what happened to him in the past. His fall, the betrayal of his family. Lucifer’s wrists were bleeding from the constraints, his ankles felt bruised. He had his head slumped forward as his muscles were weak and couldn’t support anything. There were wires that were stabbed into his torso, they had felt like the spears heaven used to try and kill him. His hope was lost at this point, Charlie’s girlfriend found him and was trying to find a way to get him out. She left. Lucifer was worried that his daughter still hadn't forgiven him. His powers were drained, that tv head man was using him to destroy everything, a while ago he felt the barricade protecting heaven was broken. Lucifer’s body would spasm every once and a while from the sinner using his powers.
Suddenly he heard a voice, an angelic one, possibly someone from upstairs. Then he heard his daughter start to sing. He used some of his energy to lift his head up, possibly to find an opening that has access to outside. More and more people started to sing. Tears fell down his face and onto his blood soaked suit.
Lucifer felt shaking and then a big boom, the glass around him shattered which made him scrunch his face up. His restraints suddenly let him go, and he fell to the floor, glass stabbing his body everywhere. Lucifer shook as he tried to get up. His daughter was outside, he needed to apologize, make sure that she knew he was sorry he ruined everything she had worked so hard for. Charlie was going to be so mad. Lucifer wobbled and some of his energy came back. He climbed up and punched at a tile he saw Charlie’s girlfriend come down from. Lucifer pushed it off to the side and pulled himself up.
“Dad?” Charlie said with confusion.
His body spasms as he looks up. There was Charlie, her girlfriend, and a seraphim that looked identical to Sera who had a hurt wing. He climbed up and wobbled as he stood. Lucifer said something that was just random words coming out of his mouth. He looked over to all the other people and saw some overlords, like Carmila and Zestial, who were some old friends. Then he saw Alastor off to the side alone, with his new cane. Lucifer looked into his eyes and saw that they were filled with unspoken emotion, one could say fear, then his ears were pinned back.
His body then felt cold, which was abnormal for hell. His vision went dark and it sounded like he was underwater. Lucifer’s legs buckled under his weight and he went limp. He fell to the ground, then heard muffled voices. Lucifer saw Charlie and smiled weakly, she quickly moved on from him and was jumping up and down about something else.
He looked up and saw heaven. His old home. Lucifer wondered if this was the true punishment for falling in love with Lilith, to gifting humans with free will. He frowned, Lilith. She left him and Charlie by disappearing about eight years ago. Lucifer might never see her again. Tears fell down his face uncontrollably. His one arm was laying stretched out to the side, and his other bent across his body.
His first memory being in heaven, seeing his twin brother and his Father. Now he’s in hell looking up at heaven, a place that he could no longer go. Little did he know…
It would be his last…
The irony of this was oh so funny. An angel who defied his god, his father. Then punished to the very hell he had created. Then died because part of his banishment was that he wasn’t able to hurt, kill, or deal with anything involving sinners. Then a horrible love life, was a horrible father, the sin of Pride who had depression.
He died thinking his daughter hated him. His wife fell out of love, and that he was a joke to all of hell.
He watched in horror as he saw the king of hell look at him with tired eyes. It looked like there was no life left in them. Then Lucifer went limp and fell to the ground. Alastor’s breath hitched. He hated the guy, seriously, he was a joke. But the sight made him sick. Charlie had quickly moved onto gushing over Sir Pentious. He saw Lucifer look up into the sky, Alastor looked up and tried to figure out what he was staring at when he realized it was heaven. Alastor quickly looked back down and saw that Lucifer’s glow was starting to fade. That’s one thing about that motherducking king of hell that actually fascinated him, his ability to glow. But watching it fade into nothingness hit Alastor in a spot. He looked into Lucifer’s eyes and they were dead and no life left. The king of hell was gone.
Alastor used his shadows to teleport over to Lucifer. He popped up on his knees to the side of him. Alastor lifted his hands up, and realized they were shaking. He grabbed Lucifer’s chin and moved his head so he could see. Alastor flinched, Lucifer was cold. He moved his head so his ear was to the king’s heart. To see if there was still a sign of life, even though he knew Lucifer was dead. Which he was.
Alastor sat up straight and grit his teeth. His ideas, his plans. They were now in jeopardy because Lucifer had to die.
He was about to teleport away when he heard a voice.
“Samael?” A woman muttered.
Alastor looked to his side, but then was startled when he realized that he had to look up. There was an angel, a seraphim if he was correct. She looked down at the body in front of him with her hands covering her mouth. Alastor looked over to the big screen when he saw that Charlie was now over there and talking to the newly redeemed sinner. He looked back at the Seraphim and narrowed his eyes, this must be Sera then. Charlie would curse her out when she was frustrated with something. Then Alastor finally registered that she had muttered the name Samael. Alastor watched as she knelt down in front of him.
“How could this have happened!” Sera asked, then she looked at him, “He’s gone.”
Alastor’s eyes widened, Samael was Lucifer. His smile twitched at the corners. Sera started to cry, sob even. His ear twitched as he heard the flutter of wings. Alastor looked over and saw it was Charlie’s angel friend. She had also saved him when he was fighting Vox’s shark thing.
“Is that Charlie’s dad?” She asked.
He looked back down at Lucifer and Alastor saw how pale he was now. Lucifer was already white, literally, but his red blush was now faded along with his purple eyelids. Alastor grabbed his hand and brought it up to his lips.
“What’s going on?” Charlie asked. Alastor turned his head and saw Vaggie came over too, “Surely he’s fine, he can heal quickly.”
Sera looked down at Charlie and grit her teeth. Alastor watched in anticipation. Sera’s wings puffed up.
“It’s all her fault.” Sera said, directing it at Charlie.
“What do you mean? It’s not my fault, if my dad didn’t antagonize Vox, I wouldn’t have kicked him out and Vox wouldn't have caught him!” Charlie snapped.
Alastor realized how Charlie has been acting the whole time. She was acting prideful, more than her father who was the sin of pride.
“Charlotte, your father’s dead.” Alastor hissed.
Realization lit up in her eyes. Charlie’s hands started to shake, then she fell to the floor and landed on her knees.
“He can’t be!” She yelled. Charlie crawled over to Alastor’s side and looked at Lucifer, “Dad, wake up! I didn’t mean it! Please!”
Charlie pressed her forehead against Lucifer’s chest. Alastor looked at her with an emotion he wasn’t used to. His chest was tight. He looked up at Sera and she was crying too. Alastor wonders what kind of relationship they had in the past. Was she one of the angels who banished Lucifer down into hell?
Lilith wasn’t here either. The queen of hell and his wife - or ex wife. Lucifer surely didn’t know, he had mentioned it when Vox had captured them. He wonders where she is now, Alastor suspects heaven because there is nowhere in hell that she could hide for seven years.
Alastor knew that the king would die eventually even though he was immortal. Either by Lucifer himself. Sinners. Angels. Or Alastor.
The truth ended up being sinners. Much to his disappointment. Alastor wonders if Charlie will understand the worry and hatred her father had for the sinners. He also is curious to see if she will also start to grow a resentment for them after what happened to Lucifer. Since Lilith is gone, Charlie would become queen. Would she keep and try to redeem sinners, or will she manage to do both?
Only time will tell, and Alastor has all the time in the rings or he’ll. Let’s see how he uses it.
Charlie hesitated to press the call button. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes then pressed it. Charlie later on her back on her bed and waited for an answer. Once it stopped she held her breath, but was faced with a voice message. She sighed and rolled over to her stomach.
“Hey mom! Just wanted to let you know that you can get rid of all of the other voice messages I sent you, plus the other things. Things are going smoothly! Sinners are joining the hotel and from what I see, they enjoy it too! Angel is still gone which is a certain change that we have to get used to. It’s been hard for Cherry and Husk. Anyway, heaven is helping us with redemption now,” Charlie got up and started to walk around, “they have been very kind about the whole thing. After the fight with Vox though… It's been hard mentally for most of us. Dad.. he was used as a power source by him to destroy everything. I regret so much, I was so prideful in myself that I hurt dad. After we broke the weapon Dad showed himself… I was so caught up with Sir Pentious that I didn’t pay attention to Dad. Now.. he’s gone. He died. Because you’re gone along with him, I’m now the queen of hell and of Pride Ring, also the new sin of pride. I’ve been struggling, not with the work but of Dads death. I can’t stop thinking it was my fault. Vaggi has helped me through the whole situation. But I hope that you are doing okay and that you hear this as news, love you mom.”
Charlie took her phone away from her ear and ended the call. A tear fell down her face as she put her phone on the bed side table. She went to walk towards her windows when she heard her phone start to ring. Her stomach dropped and she ran over to it. Charlie looked at who it was and she stopped breathing. She answered the call and put it back up to her ear with both hands.
“Mom?”
He had always thought Lucifer would die by his blade. Certainly not by sinners.
Michael looked at the sword bolted up on the wall in the long, cold, dark hallway. The sword was his and was shown off as if a trophy since the day of the fall. His bottom lip trembled as tears fell down his face. Michael never got to see or mutter a word to his brother for many, many years. Since that day he had lost a piece of himself, his twin. He was supposed to be heaven's lead archangel, but has never felt like he deserved it.
Lucifer and him were identical twins. White skin, blue wings and cheek circles, and platinum blonde hair. Michael grew his hair out just a little bit, as for his brother he had no clue.
At first it was the meetings. They would be hours, but it all would pass by as a blur. Then it was days, then weeks. Michael stopped to take care of himself and people noticed. It had been since he felt the spiritual tie between Lucifer and him break. Michael would feel times where the bond would weaken. Over time he had learnt that it was Lucifer’s life wavering, it got worse after Lilith disappeared from hell. Michael was pleading with the council to let him talk to Lucifer, or to be able to go down to hell to save his brother. In the end he was denied and felt it break. Ever since that day his condition got worse. His younger brothers noticed small things at first but then were growing concerned.
Michael asked Sera to go down to hell and she was hesitant, but also eventually said no. But with the help of his brothers he was able to go down in secret. Michael tried to put on a good suit, his hair was messy, and there were noticeable eye bags under his eyes. He still went down to hell, to where his niece was.
He flew down and to the front door. It was a bit quiet from inside. From reports that he has heard, more and more sinners come in every day. Michael looked at his wings and saw how unmanaged they looked. He just relaxed them behind his back to look like a cape. Michael walked up and knocked a few times. After he knocked everything went silent. He put his hands in his pockets and rolled from the balls of his feet to his heels. Suddenly the door opened.
“Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel!” A woman’s voice shouted.
Michael flinched and blinked as his eyes adjusted to the bright light. Once it was good he looked inside and saw a young girl in the doorway staring at him. She was only a little bit taller than he was. But identical to Lucifer but just had red accents instead of blue like him.
“Oh hi? You must be an angel!” She said with a tone that had a hint of confusion, “I’m sorry- you just look exactly like someone I know- I mean knew.”
“You must be Lucifer’s daughter?” Michael asked. He had always respected his brother's name. Before he was called Samael, but after his banishment he was renamed to Lucifer by his choice. Not many respected his decision but Michael always did.
“Why, yes I am… I’m Charlie.” She said,
“Michael?” A voice from inside asked. He looked past Charlie and saw Lilith in there with wide eyes.
“You two know each other?” Charlie asked.
“Oh yes we do.” Lilith said as she walked to the door, “Please come in.”
Michael followed the two women to a little sitting area. Before that he saw groups of sinners. He sat down across from the two and placed his hands in his lap.
“I’m glad you were able to contact your daughter again Lilith.” Michael said.
“Thank you, though I must say I am surprised you were able to get down here.” Lilith said. Charlie looked between the two.
“My younger siblings helped out greatly to distract the council.” He replied as he nodded his head.
“May I ask? Who are you?” Charlie asked.
Michael isn’t surprised this girl didn’t know of him or his younger siblings. They would be a touchy subject to bring up.
“My name is Michael, head archangel and your father’s twin brother.” He said, suddenly her face grew in realization.
“That’s why you look so much like him.” She gasped.
“I know he might have not talked about his siblings very much, especially what we did to him.” Michael said as he looked down at his fidgeting hands.
“He never really talked about heaven as a whole.” She muttered.
“Have you heard the news by now?” Lilith asked softly.
“I knew the moment it happened, our spiritual bond broke, the one we have had since the day of our creation.” Michael said as a tear slipped down his face. His wings shook a little, “I’m sorry, it’s not formal of me to cry.”
“It’s okay, you can cry and let your feelings out, what we talk about does not leave the inside of this room.” Charlie said, “If I’m going to be honest, what do I call you, I’ve only just met you.”
Michael’s stomach dropped. He only just met his niece, Michael was never there in her life once. Hell, she didn’t even know who he was.
“You can just call me Uncle Michael.” He muttered.
A smile cracked on Charlie’s face, “Got it, Uncle Michael.”
“Why did you come down here?” Lilith asked
“I came down after I gained some mental strength to face the truth. I wanted to come down to see what I had missed out on in my brother's new life. And what I see is one beautiful happy family.” Michael said with a weak smile.
The three of them got up and hugged each other. It was very emotional that day. The two women showed him pictures of Lucifer and many other things. His brother changed a lot, but looked happy. That’s all he needed to know, was that Lucifer was happy with his family down in hell. He regrets so much from the past, all Michael can do now is do better in the future.
Lucifer was everything to Michael. In heaven, and when separated. Michael will try to live on his legacy of pride. Not in the aid of banishing the devil. But in his virtue, himself, and all that he wants to change for the better.
Lucifer was never the devil, that was the Lucifer from the Bible, but he was a true angel. More angel than the purest in heaven. So Michael lives on, remembering Lucifer for not what he is written to be, but as his soul brother.
