Can I still kiss you even in different universes? (an anthology)

Summary:

What should be the answer to a question like that? Of course she could kiss him. She could kiss him all she wants. She could kiss him till his lips turn blue— not that it wasn't already blue. She could kiss him and took his breath away if she wanted even. He wasn't breathing nor do he have any traces of life clinging inside of him anymore. It brought him guilt because there was nothing he could offer to her in return.

But Yashiro chose to kiss him, still.
In every universe, they'd share a kiss.

Chapter Text

Sunday mornings are the best, Amane thought, as he slowly woke from the kindest of dreams. No alarms. No plans. No work. Just a slow, peaceful morning where he had the freedom to choose when to get out of bed. There was a soft pittering of the rain outside their window. Amane decided that he was not getting out of the bed any sooner, and lazily wrapped his arms around a still sleeping Nene.

He couldn't really recall what his dream was about, but he remembered it to be warm, just like how Nene felt right now in his arms. She must've been in it too, no doubt. Only she could bring warmth into his dreams and his life after all. Even when it rains or snows— even when he reached the lowest point of his life, Nene was always there with a bundle of warmth to offer to his world.

He kissed her head and cuddled her tighter, taking in her scent as she mumbled something into his chest.

"What was that?" he asked, thinking that she might've woken.

But Nene didn't reply, so she must still be dreaming.

What had he done to deserve such a life— A life where he could actually have the most beautiful morning with the most beautiful fiancée? It felt so surreal. Just a few years ago they met at a little bridge, where she had saved him from the demise he was about to bring upon himself. She'd pulled him so hard and tumbled them both onto the bridge; truth to be told it was not the sweetest first encounter anyone could have ever wished for.

But now they have their feet tangled together under the sheets, his head resting on top of hers and her face warm in his chest. Amane hugged her tighter yet again— if only this slow morning could last till forever.

He felt Nene stirred in his arms. Maybe it's time to wake her up now.

Amane carefully lifted her face and kissed her softly. The kiss was slow and mindful that he felt her smiling through the kiss. He playfully nibbled her lips until Nene started to kiss him back too.

Her kisses were groggy and clumsy— like she was still confused what she was doing. It made a laugh bubble out of his chest.

Hearing that, Nene finally fluttered her eyes open and gave him a lopsided smile.

"What'sso funny?" She asked, and almost hit his chin with her fist as she stretched her sleepiness away. Luckily Amane avoided it just in time.

"Nothing, really. Just happy." Amane answered and kissed her again. This time her kiss felt more awake and attentive. So attentive that he began thinking of not leaving the bed all day.

"I think I dreamt of you," Nene said as she finally broke the kiss. She wrapped her arms around his torso and brought herself closer. "You were crying but the dream didn't feel sad. I wonder what happened... I can't remember."

"Doesn't matter. Your dream come true is right front of you, isn't he?"

"Mmm, maybe." Nene replied and playfully shrugged. "I want my dream come true to always be happy."

"Well, I'm really happy right now, Nene. Like you have no idea," he stopped to kiss her cheeks first, and continued, "–how happy I am right now."

"I'm happy too," Nene said and hugged him tighter. "My dream really did came true, then."

The two of them made plans on how to spend the day together. Since it was the rainy season, they decided to just cook and cuddle at home today... Or maybe they could put on their boots and walk to the bridge under a shared umbrella too. Who knows.
