Chapter Text
,,Our destiny is not written for us, but by us“
- Barack Obama
Prologue
Fiyero was furious. Never ever had they cared about him, about his well being, about his thoughts, about…him. So he had stopped caring as well, putting on that dancing-through-life masquerade (that they had never cared about either) because it was the only way he felt like he could cope with all the mess that was his family.
He had been unhappy. Truly unhappy, desperate even. His family had never cared about him, he had just been a nuisance. The unseen son. The last born. Third in line for the throne, never really needed. A prince, of course, living with all the pleasures royalty would bring along.
But he had been unhappy.
And it had taken a green skinned girl and her ability to see right through him to actually make him feel seen for the first time.
And he had fallen in love with her.
Undeniably and unconditionally in love with her.
And he was happy.
For the probably first time in his life, he was truly happy.
They had begun dating, they had developed a relationship he felt truly comfortable with.
And he had found friends. An actual group of friends he knew he could rely on.
He managed to stay in Shiz (thanks to her study sessions, which they hadn’t stopped), he even got good grades.
It had been the happiest year in his life.
And then his parents had to ruin it all with the single letter he had just read.
Fiyero was furious. Furious and mad and…
He balled his hand still holding the letter into a fist, crumbling up the letter in the process and screamed.
