Work Text:
For a week, Suga had noticed something different in Kageyama and Hinata's relationship, they were both more distracted and clearly ignoring each other, which angered the captain because it was affecting the team.
Whenever the shorter player wasn't looking, the setter would stare at him, then look away, the same thing happened with the attacker. Although curious, Suga initially decided to simply observe how things unfolded, and perhaps intervene later.
After practice, everyone gathered to clean the court before going home. Seeing that Hinata was alone putting away the balls, the platinum-haired boy approached.
"Hinata-kun?" The redhead was startled by the approach and dropped two balls on the ground.
"Ah... Suga-senpai, are you alright?" He picked up the balls and put them in the basket, while turning to the older boy.
"I should be the one asking that, don't you think? You and Kageyama-kun have been acting very strangely lately, what happened?" The older man noticed the redhead shiver and blush slightly.
"Well...h-how can I explain..."
Karasuno High gymnasium - 1 week ago
After yet another of my arguments with Kageyama, Daichi-senpai punished us by ordering us to clean the entire court by ourselves before we could leave.
"This is all your fault, Hinata Boke!" I heard the taller one yell at me while mopping the other side of the court. I got angry, dropped the mop, and went towards Kageyama.
"My fault? This is YOUR fault, Bakageyama!!" I growled angrily, pointing my finger in the setter's face.
"First, take your finger out of my face, second, it IS your fault, if you did things right I wouldn't need to yell at you." He grabbed my wrist, pulling my hand away from his face, but without letting go.
"If you didn't yell at me all the time for everything I do, maybe I could concentrate." I stared into his blue eyes with fury, and he returned the look with the same intensity.
We stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity, his hand still gripping my wrist. When I tried to pull away, he tightened his grip. I looked at him with a big question mark on my face, but still with a hint of anger.
"Let go of me, Bakageyama!" I tried to pull my wrist away again, but without success.
Just as I was about to tell the dark-haired boy to let go of me again, he forcefully pulled my arm, pressing our bodies together. Since he was taller than me, I had to lift my head to meet his eyes.
His blue eyes were darker, and he seemed to want to say something. I always knew Kageyama Tobio was handsome, after all, he's tall, has blue eyes, straight black hair, and many girls —and even boys— sighed over him. I wasn't exempt from that list, even though I would never admit it, but being so close, all his beauty seemed even greater.
I don't know what came over me, but when I realized it, I was already on tiptoe and my lips were touching his, like a light peck.
In shock, I tried to pull away, but I felt the taller man take his free hand and place it on my waist, squeezing while kissing me back. After the initial shock, we deepened the kiss.
When our lungs cried out for air, we pulled away and stared at each other, breathless. When it finally dawned on us, we quickly separated, completely flushed.
We finished packing everything in complete silence and then left without exchanging a word, both lost in thought.
"And that's it..." The redhead blushed, staring at the floor. He didn't know what Suga's reaction would be to him exchanging a kiss with his teammate, who was also a boy.
"Well, what's the big deal anyway? It was just a kiss, wasn't it? Why all this staring and looking away game all the time?" The shorter boy's cheeks turned even redder than they already were, making Koushi chuckle softly.
"It's not that simple, Suga-senpai!!! I-I like that idiot Kageyama!" The information didn't seem to surprise the older man, who only smiled slightly.
"I repeat, what's the big problem? If you like each other, there's no reason for all this." He saw the number 10 sigh heavily.
"That's the problem, Kageyama doesn't like me, he thinks I'm annoying and stupid," he murmured softly, but because he was close, the platinum-haired boy could hear him clearly.
"How are you so sure? He wouldn't have returned the kiss if he didn't feel the same way, you know?!" Sugawara smiled, seeing a glimmer of hope in Shouyou's brown eyes.
"Do you really think so, senpai?" He simply nodded, smiling, watching the small redhead run smiling and blushing towards a sulky Kageyama in the corner of the court "KAGEYAMAAAAA"
"What do you want, Boke??" He heard Tobio's icy voice from afar.
He saw Daichi approaching with his backpack on his back, ready to leave, holding the platinum-haired boy's backpack in his hands. He took the backpack, murmuring a soft "thank you."
"What were you talking about with Hinata? Is everything alright?" The captain stared uncertainly at the golden duo of the team who were chatting in the same corner.
"Don't worry, Daichi-kun," he waved goodbye to the pair as they left through the gym doors, a huge smile spreading across his face as he noticed the two boys intertwining hands while smiling and talking. "Everything will be alright."
