Spider and the Fly

Summary:

Buffy's in trouble. Must be Tuesday.

Notes:

Would you believe me if I said this was supposed to be a full fic? :P I've had this in my WIPs for a while now and decided this was the perfect time for it to see the light of day. I just turned it into 6 chapters worth of Triple Drabbles, with each chapter named for each prompt. So far this is a completed work, but I may add more chapters if a prompt fits.

Title from Spider and the Fly by London After Midnight

Written for OC's 2026 Drabblefest
Prompt 6: Waking Up

Chapter 1: Waking Up

Chapter Text

Where… where am I?

Buffy woke up in a daze, her head pounding like a drum. Her limbs felt sore and heavy, and everything in her brain was swimming around like some wayward goldfish. She tried to sit up, but even that small task felt like climbing Mt. Everest.

With an elephant on your back.

In the middle of winter.

She huffed in exasperation, figuring she’d get her strength back eventually. Assuming a bed was beneath her, she quickly discovered she'd been restrained. She tugged on her bonds, but they held strong.

Damn.

She blinked a few times, testing her vision. She could see vague shapes and colors, but not much else. Since she couldn’t move any body parts vital for escape, she traded brawn for brains.

What was the last thing she remembered? She couldn't even recall who she'd been with, let alone what she'd been doing. Memories surfaced, but none made sense. Conversations rang in her ears, but the voices were garbled.

You can do this, Buffy. Focus! Okay, so you’re trapped; nothing new there. Just need to find something you can use to fight. Pointy and wooden would be great...

Scratch that; freedom first, potential stakeage later.

There's gotta be a way to-

Just as she was getting her wits about her, she heard the door open. With the lack of light, she couldn't see him, but swore she could almost feel the bastard smirking at her predicament.

“I knew you'd look good in chains," Angelus said, chuckling softly. He walked closer to the bed, checking her all four shackles. When he sat down beside her, she immediately scooted as far away from him as her current position allowed. He made a mental note, but ignored it in favor of taunting her further. "Enjoy your nap, sweetheart?"
