The hurried footsteps came from the back of the alley, her brown eyes observing the figures between the cracks in the buildings, unconcerned.
The drafts of wind ruffled her dark hair across her face, her lips tingled as she felt the blood seeping through the cracks, the metallic taste haunting her mouth.
"Aren't you going after them?" The deep voice sounded from the shadows, mocking.
Always somewhat cunning, Maps reflected, closing her eyes for a moment.
"I don't understand the concern, they seem like a very good pair..." Maps murmured bitterly, her voice becoming choked at the end.
A dark laugh escaped from the shadows of the terrace, the fingers encased in greenish gloves tightened against her own palms and her eyes burned with the painful sensation in her chest surfacing, an almost silent sob was heard.
"He's the bat's son, don't forget that." The voice sounded more temperamental, as if there was irritation in its tone.
That should be a compliment, Mizoguchi lamented in her thoughts, her brown eyes widening with tears streaming down her face.
Using the back of one of her gloved hands, Maps wiped the thick tears from her eyes that dampened her black mask and took a deep breath, the yellowish cloak on her shoulders trembling in the wind.
"The demonic brat doesn't deserve you, don't waste your time with your illusions, Babybird." The voice was firm, seeming determined to expose something.
"I think you talk too much, Todd," Maps retorted with a sigh, suppressing another sob.
Her hands quickly grabbed the hook and threw it to another building, the young woman's slender body gaining momentum as she crossed to the other structure, her yellowish cloak reflecting in the yellowish lights of the dark city.
His boots thumped against the concrete as he emerged from the shadows, a mocking smile spreading across Jason's lips as he watched the young woman walk away to follow the other two vigilantes, trying to ignore that the new vigilante seemed determined to separate her from Damian.
Red Hood knew it was only a matter of time before Mizoguchi found him again, as she was meant to.
