Chapter Text
"...it was really bad," said Hinata. "Like...really bad."
"I mean...like on a scale to bad to fucking awful?"
Hinata gripped the back of the couch and sat up. She looked into the kitchen where her friend's girlfriend was currently preparing breakfast. Her pink hair was also in a drunken disarray. Her Christmas night gown with cookies on it brushed the floor. Hinata hummed. "Like...I....never want to see him again," she confessed. "And the biting..."
"See, Hinata, that's what you get for trying to be fast!" Tenten emerged from the backroom, looking absolutely perfect in a matching Christmas gown with cups of milk on it. There was a glory in being the Destinated Driver, and Tenten wore the title with smug honor. The brunette walked into the kitchen, peering over the pinkette's shoulder. She grimaced. "...babe, the egg shells."
Sakura pressed tired fingers into her eye sockets. "I can't see a damn thing in these contacts," she laughed. "You take over since you feel so good."
"I will," said Tenten, turning her girlfriend away from the disaster she was creating. "Go sit down."
Hinata's eyes narrowed in a silent envy as the women giggled, hugged and kissed. She huffed and laid back on the couch.
Hinata Hyuuga was not bitter. She wasn't angry. She was just single and twenty-nine which somehow felt like a death sentence during the holidays. Her mother had already talked her ear off about some man she wanted her to meet. As if life wasn't already chaotic enough, the idea of adding her mother's scheming... it was too much. She craved serendipity. Spontaneity. A whirlwind romance like the next girl. So she said yes to going to Sakura's friends Christmas Party. Yes, she put on the Ugly Christmas sweater. Yes, she drank the festive, Grinch Green colored drinks and the Red 40 filled jello shots. And yes, she smiled back at the very handsome man staring at her.
And she should have left him right there.
But no! These were the holidays.
And Hinata had a bad habit of saying no to things... it was her New Years Resolution. Say Yes more often.
So yes, they shared several drinks, they even coupled up during the Game portion of the night. They won twice. It was something about winning with a stranger that made the urge to kiss them very real. God, it was so real. The kiss, in the dark corner of the party when everyone else was occupied. A heated debated about whether The Grinch was a type of "Who" or actually a "What" and if he was a "What" instead of a "Who" is there a Whatsville filled with "What's" like him?
Meanwhile her and this stranger. This tall stranger with dark hair and even darker eyes that smelt like mint and...man. His hands were strong, the muscles beneath his quite plain sweater were solid, but his lips were soft. Those soft lips captured hers and she couldn't help but pull him closer. Her body was warm and buzzing. It had been forever since she felt anything with anyone... so when he asked did she want to leave.
She said yes.
She sent her location to Tenten, a quick text.
Though turns out... he stayed in the same apartment building as the host.
Ino something. She would find out the rest later, she barely knew his name.
But he held her hand in the elevator as they waited to go up two floors.
They drunkenly stumbled into his extremely clean apartment. No Christmas decorations. She would have thought it was a show room if it hadn't been for a line up of his shoes at the door and a picture of his family hanging in the living room. She didn't have time to check it out, or anything out. She was too busy saying yes.
But then it became clear that no was becoming the more appropriate response.
Because maybe they were too drunk.
Because the way he took off her bra with his teeth gave her the ick.
Because she knocked her head to the bottom of his chin when fumbled with his belt.
Then they knocked teeth so hard in the next attempt to kiss again.
His flirty nibbling turned into biting. He bit her clit. She yelped, nearly ripping his hair from his scalp. He apologized.
Maybe she was a bit rough with the hand job but her most precious pearl was throbbing and she was drunk! He snatched her hand away before she pulled the entire thing off his body. She apologized.
But they were both stubborn and determine to keep going.
He struggled to put the condom on.
"You need help?" She inquired, watching him like they were performing surgery.
"No," he grunted, finally getting latex right.
Then there she was laying in his bed. His bed. The handsome stranger wrapped in her legs, his warm body pressed against hers. She nearly forgave the terrible fucking start. They both whispering how they don't do this. If it was the truth or a lie, it didn't matter.
She exclaimed, "Wrong. Wrong. Wrong!" when he angled himself at the wrong hole. And then...the absolute cherry on top. When they did get it right... He was inside of her...for all of fourteen seconds. There was utter silence. He cursed. His head buried in the crook of her shoulder. "This doesn't happen to me," he said against her flushed skin. "It's never..."
"It's...uh," she murmured, patting his head slowly. "...I should go."
He lifted himself, but didn't look at her. All of the confidence that made him seem like a walking magnet was gone. He was a just a boy with his soft dick out.
And she was just a girl...unsatisfied and naked.
Felt like freshman year all over again.
She gathered her clothing quickly. Her pants were on backwards, she didn't even bother putting on the sweater. Fuck the December's chill. She needed to get out of here. He didn't even bother with a goodbye. She didn't look back. Good riddance! So little time had passed, the party was still going on. She couldn't go back there, but she damn sure wasn't going back home. She sent Tenten another quick text, the spare key in her purse.
'Going back to your place!'
Tenten replied: 'Meet you there soon. Sakura is vomiting.'
She called an uber, stood in the cold to reflect on every bad decision of the year.
And now she was curled on Tenten's and Sakura's couch avoiding the real issue, aside from her Hellish experience last night.
Her mother. Hitomi Hyuuga.

"You are grouchier than normal."
He grunted.
"What happened last night? You and that cute girl?"
Ino Yamanaka. The host of last night's party and somehow one of his closest friends.
"Nothing."
"Oh, please, it wasn't nothing," she said, going through his fridge. Her apartment was currently being cleaned by a team. There was no way Ino Yamanaka was doing all of that by herself. So she barged into Sasuke's apartment hoping to catch the girl that he snuck away with trying to creep out...only to find him sitting alone at the island, drinking a coffee. She pulled out the orange juice that she left over here for these reasons.
"Nothing happened."
Ino scoffed, grabbing a glass from his cabinet. "You? The whore. Nothing happened with you and a pretty girl?"
"First--"
"First you're not a whore," she interjected, mocking him and rolling her wrist. "Whatever...now give me the details."
"There are no details," his grip on the coffee cup tighten. "Would you drop it?"
"You fucked it up? You had to have fucked it up, Sasuke. You guys were practically in love last night."
"Ino..." he strained.
"Yes, dearest pal?" She leaned against the counter, her legs kicked up.
"Go to Hell," he hissed.
She laughed. "Are the tickets cheap?"
"Dirt," he bit, he pushed the cup away. The onyx eyed man stood, patting his pocket. Wallet, Keys, Phone. "I have to go."
"What? Sasuke!" Ino scoffed.
"I am spending the week at home," he told her for the hundredth time. "I am picking up Itachi from the airport."
The blonde sighed dreamily. "Oh, Itachi... my favorite Uchiha brother."
"He's gay."
"I have an asshole too, Sasuke," Ino pointed.
Sasuke closed his eyes, allowing a deep sigh to go through his body. She would definitely be top 3 reasons for his Death. "Stay. Go. Just lock up," he said, heading to the door.
"Where are your bags? You're already packed?" She moved around the counter, her arms wailing. "This is happening too fast!"
"In the car," said Sasuke.
"So?" She paused and lifted a brow, before grinning. "You waited for me to say goodbye?"
He cut his eyes at her as she approached him in a hug. He remained stiff in the embrace. She grinned at him, "Tell everyone I said hey, especially Itachi. Make it long and sexy."
"Get off me, Yamanaka."
She released him and walked the grumpy man to the door. "Merry Christmas, Sasuke. If something wonderful happens to you. Text me."
"I hope not," he said, rolling his eyes at the beaming blonde woman that he was leaving in his apartment. He rubbed his chin and stepped through the threshold, "...but I will. Don't go through my shit."
"I've already done that! Bye!" She exclaimed, closing the door on him.
Sasuke pinched the bridge of his nose.
Fucking holidays.

This was a new thing for the Hyuuga Family.
Christmas was a quiet thing at their home. Time to reflect.
Hinata gasped softly as they entered the neighbor of her mother's friend. Each huge house was decorated with lights and holiday inflatables. A childish part of her couldn't wait until night fall to see them in all of their glory. Her sister sat beside her, headphones shoved in her ears in the whole time...was also in secret awe of the decorations. Hitomi sat in the passenger seat, hands clasped. "Mikoto is apart of her community committee. Everyone participates! Isn't that so nice, dear?"
"Aa," Hiashi grunted.
He was driving. It was the first time Hinata had ever seen her father drive. She honestly didn't know he could. Hitomi wanted to get the full family experience so she stuffed them in a sedan and gave the driving staff Christmas off.
"How lucky is Neji," said Hanabi. Their cousin went on a tropical trip with his friends instead.
"Aa," their father grunted in agreement.
"Oh stop," Hitomi looked back at her daughter. Vibrant amethyst eyes narrowed. "And surely you can put the phone down for a few days, Bibi-chan."
Hinata smiled at the old nickname. Hanabi's ears reddened. "Mother!"
"You are still my little Bibi-chan," she said.
The GPS announced their arrival. Hinata was impressed by the mini mansion, it looked to be the same size as theirs but her mother was right. This Mikoto woman knew how to decorate. There were huge candy canes and nutcrackers, lining the drive way. The house was covered in lights, there was a full Santa Claus and sleigh on the roof. There was soft Christmas music literally playing as they approached the house.
"Fugaku is soft," Hiashi muttered.
"Fugaku loves his wife," corrected Hitomi.
As they parked, a dark haired woman opened the front door. She waved frantically, her smile gleaming, as she made her way towards them. Hitomi squealed like a little girl. Unclasping her seat beat before Hiashi could even turn the car off. The older Hyuuga woman got out and the women hugged tightly. Laughing and swaying.
Hanabi scoffed. "Father, should we be worried?"
"Let your mother be," Hiashi said, looking through the mirror at his adult daughters. "We will be hospitable."
"Yeah, yeah," Hanabi grumbled, scrolling on her phone.
"Of course, Father," said Hinata, unbuckled her seat belt.
Hitomi and Mikoto finally released each other. "Ne, Mikoto...this is my daughter, Hinata."
The dark eyes woman opened her arms and pulled her into a hug, as well. "She is so beautiful, Hitomi! Ah, my son is just going to love you."
"Ah..." Hinata laughed nervously.
"I told her," Hitomi said. "He's very handsome. Very respectful too."
"Well," Mikoto shook her head. "He is handsome... but he's picking up his older brother from the airport so they'll be here soon," her gaze fell on Hanabi. "Oh! Hitomi, you are living my dream. I wish I had girls."
"I love them dearly," Hitomi beamed.
Hiashi got out the car, giving a curt nod. Mikoto grinned. "Fugaku has been eager for this week."
"Has he?"
The Uchiha woman nodded. "Something about a scotch older than you."
He scoffed, but the glint of excitement in his eyes betrayed his signature scowl.
Mikoto took her friend's hands. "This will be a perfect Christmas!"

Night fell on the Uchiha household.
Hiashi had disappeared into the Man Cave with Fugaku. Hanabi was in the living room, still doom scrolling. Hinata was in the kitchen with the mothers. At first, she declined the invitation to make cookies but then Mikoto brought out a bottle of wine and suddenly listening to these older women chit chat didn't seem so bad.
"My sons aren't huge sweet fans," said Mikoto. "Are you, Hinata?"
"I am," she said, sipping the very expensive red wine. She was used to the bottles out of the grocery store.
"Oi, wonderful. You are staying in Konoha now?"
Hinata looked between women. Hitomi pressed her lips, averting her eyes. Hinata sighed. This was the biggest elephant between mother and daughter. Hinata went across country for college after Hitomi got better. She needed a break from it all. Konoha felt suffocating at the time. The house was smoldering. She had spent so much of her teenage years worrying over her mother's health, which caused the relationship with her father to be...rocky. Rocky was an understatement, actually. He demanded perfection. She just wanted to help her mother. Hinata found that space was good. Great even. Their relationship repaired itself while she was at a distance. Hitomi blamed herself from the turbulence in the house.
"...for the holidays," said Hinata, looking at her tightened fist resting in her lap. "I haven't decided yet."
"Ah, I'm sure after meeting my baby, you'll change your mind," said Mikoto.
Hitomi nodded.
Hinata laughed nervously again.
The doorbell chimed.
Mikoto gasped. "They are here!"
The front door opened, and Hinata turned in her seat. The first man to enter...was very handsome. Tall, dark and long hair. Onyx eyes. Mikoto quickly wiped her hands. "Itachi, my love!" She hurried into the man.
Hinata turned to her mother. "That's him?" She whispered.
"Oh no, that's the eldest brother," Hitomi whispered back. "I don't think he likes women, you know?"
Hinata smiled, playfully hitting her mother's arm. Mikoto squealed again. "My Sasuke! Come in, Come in. Both of you."
Hinata knew that name, didn't she?
"That's the son..." Hitomi spun Hinata's chair around.
The younger brother put his suitcase down and looked up. It felt like the world was crashing in slow motion when their eyes met. Onyx and Opal. Hinata froze. He froze.
"Sasuke, come meet Hinata! Come! Come!"
Ah Hell.
