Fluixon didn't want to be married off into some political marriage, which is how Thomas found himself in this mess.
He stood on the alter, wearing the most expensive clothes he's ever worn. The jacket was covered in sparkling gems, elaborate embroidery, and real flowers. Thomas' shaking hands were held still by Flux's.
Flux stood across from Thomas at the alter, his clothes even more expensive and elaborate than Thomas'. Flux stood up straight, not a hint of doubt on his face. His crown glinted in the light. It was a rare occurrence for Flux to wear his crown, symbolizing him as the third born prince of the Aculon empire. Flux usually didn't care too much for all the formalities, instead preferring to get his hands dirty himself.
That didn't mean that Flux never used the servants that being a prince provided him. A small group of guards and servants followed Flux around at all times, follwing his commands.
Thomas, being one of Flux's personal servants, knew that this group would do anything for Flux, even going against the command of King Elanuelo for him.
So, when Flux pulled Thomas to the side and asked, "Will you marry me?," Thomas immediately agreed. Flux had slid the engagement ring he made, handcrafted for Thomas, onto his finger.
Flux had smiled at Thomas, thankful, but how could Thomas have ever said no.
Thomas spent hours in the months leading up to the wedding staring at the ring, and running his thumb over the smooth, cold metal. It made the whole situation feel more real, and it was real, because here Thomas was, staring into Flux's eyes as he listened to Flux say his vows. He was tempted to glance towards his friends, Flux's other servants and guards, who had all been given seats in the front row, right next to the royal family. However, he couldn't bare to look away from Flux. Deep down, all Thomas had ever wanted was Flux's undivided attention, and in this moment, he had it.
Flux's vows sounded real, like he actually meant them. But, Flux had always been a good lair. He had to convince everyone here, his family, all the other royalty from other kingdoms and empires, everyone that knew him, that this was how he actually felt.
Thomas and his friends were the only ones who knew the truth, that this was a plan to get Flux out of his father's orders. King Elanuelo wouldn't let Flux avoid a political marriage unless he had someone else he wanted to marry, so Flux had to sell that he did.
When it was Thomas' turn to say his vows, they came easier than he expected. It wasn't hard to say why he'd want to marry Flux, not after years of loving him.
The officiant then asked, "Prince Fluixon of Aculon, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband".
And, Fluixon responded, "I do," squeezing Thomas' hands.
Thomas choked out his own, "I do," when it was his turn. The ring bearer brought the wedding rings over, and Flux let go of his hands to pick them up. Flux once again slid a ring onto his finger. Thomas wondered if Flux made these rings too. Flux then pressed the other ring into Thomas' hand.
Thomas took Flux's left hand, part of his metal and redstone prosthetic arm, and slid the ring onto Flux's finger. The ring slid against the metal, not fitting exactly how a ring would fit on a real hand.
Flux took Thomas' hands again, and whispered, "We can weld it on later," quiet enough that no one but the officiant would hear.
The officiant smiled, and announced, "You may now kiss the groom." Before Thomas could overthink it, Flux leaned in and kissed him.
It was the first time Flux ever kissed him, not that the audience would know that. The kiss was soft, and Flux's lips were warm. Thomas tilted his head, and tried to savor the feeling, just in case it was the last kiss Flux ever gave him too.
It wasn't until Flux pulled away that he realized the audience was clapping. Thomas finally managed to pull his eyes away from Flux's face, so he could look out towards everyone.
First, he saw his friends, smiling and clapping and cheering. Then his gaze shifted to the royal family. Flux's older sister, Queen Cynikka was politely clapping where she sat next to her husband, King Harvest of Infernus. The crown prince, Ender, was also politely clapping. The King Consort, Crow wasn't clapping, but was smiling warmly at Flux. King Elanuelo wasn't clapping or smiling, but he did stand up, for the next part of the ceremony.
The officiant left the alter, and King Elanuelo walked up and took his place. Flux let go of one of Thomas' hands, so they could both turn to face the audience.
"As the reigning King of Aculon, it is my honor to declare my son's husband, a new member of royalty."
Someone brought over a pillow with a crown on it. The crown was smaller than Flux's, showing the status of someone marrying into royalty, instead of someone born into it.
The King himself placed the crown on Thomas' head. Thomas stared at his friends in the audience, trying not to shake.
"I, King Elanuelo of Aculon, declare you Prince Thomas of Aculon."
Then, the ceremony was over, and everyone moved to the banquet. Thomas sat at a small table, next to just Flux. Flux not only continued holding his hand, but kept up the act by leaning into Thomas' side and occasionally pressing kisses to Thomas' cheek.
People walked up and congratulated them all night. All the royalty of surrounding kingdoms and empires that knew Flux introduced themselves to Thomas, and told Flux they were happy for him.
Emotions swelled in Thomas' chest the whole night. If he didn't think too hard, this was all he ever wanted. Getting to marry Flux, the man he loved.
But, Flux was just happy to get out of marrying someone he didn't know or like to satisfy his father. All the affection Flux was showing him, the kisses and comfort, it would all be gone again once the show was over, and they had no one else to fool.
Flux pressed a second gentle kiss to Thomas' mouth while they were eating wedding cake. It felt so nice, and Thomas wanted Flux to kiss him like that every day.
But soon the banquet was over, the guests left, and Flux dragged Thomas to his room, dropping his hand once they were out of sight of everyone.
Exhausted from the day, they both changed into sleeping clothes and laid down next to each other on the bed.
Thomas' crown was sitting on Flux's dresser, right next to where Flux always kept his own.
"Thank you so much, Thomas." Flux's voice was soft. Thomas turned his head to look at Flux, and saw Flux already looking at him.
"Of course," Thomas replied. "Anything for you."
Flux smiled at Thomas for the millionth time that day.
"Good, because there wasn't anyone else I wanted to marry."
Flux took Thomas' hand again, lifted it to his mouth, and pressed a kiss to Thomas' knuckles. Flux intertwined their fingers, and dropped their hands back down.
"I wouldn't want to marry anyone else either," Thomas admitted.
"Good, because you're my husband now."
And, in the silence and darkness of Flux's bedroom, with no audience and no one to trick, Flux kissed Thomas again.
