Chapter Text
Matt sat on the toilet shaking. This couldn’t be, the test had to be wrong. The one time he actually needed to sleep around…God he felt stupid. He would be fine, everything would be fine, it had to be.
Oh God he thought, what will I tell Tucker?
He knew Tucker was okay with Matt sleeping around if he had to, but he’d never said anything about raising somebody else’s baby. Would Tucker leave him? How was Matt going to hide this from him? From the media? His entire job revolves around talking about family values on camera, showing up pregnant with someone else’s baby would ruin him.
Matt had thought he just had a stomach bug, maybe eaten something weird. After he felt sick for a week straight he was starting to pray it was a stomach bug, but something in him had known better. The last straw was a late heat. He was never late.
After working up the courage, he made his way to the nearest Walgreens to buy a pregnancy test. As he entered the store he felt as if all eyes were on him. He gulped as he picked up the pregnancy test. It felt like a neon sign was suddenly flashing above him saying “Look at this slut! This Omega got KNOCKED UP”. He felt like he was going to die.
His chest tightened as he approached the counter. The teenager behind the counter looked at him for a moment before scanning the pregnancy test. Male omegas were a rarity, as were female alphas.
“Cash or card?”, asked the cashier. “Cash,” Matt replied dryly.
He handed over a $20. Normally he wouldn’t pay with cash, he rarely carried it all, but the thought of this showing up on his and Tucker’s joint bank account made him nervous. He grabbed his change and the test and walked out of the store as quickly as he could. He could feel himself relax just a little upon getting into the car. As he drove, Matt thought back to all of his mates during his last heat. Joe, Candace, Ben, and Tucker. He contemplated who he’d rather it be.
Tucker was the obvious first pick, they were married after all. If it wasn’t Tucker, he supposed Ben would be the next best thing. They’d fucked around before and Tucker liked him well enough. Candace would be the worst. Being impregnated by a female alpha..that would be peak embarrassment. Plus the baby would be very obviously not Tuckers. Matt was not above lying about the parentage if it meant he could keep his partner, and his job. He’d worked so hard to get the respect he had, this could mean that every shred of recognition he’d fought for could be gone in an instant.
Male omegas were weak, giving in to any sexual impulse from whatever alpha they could find, they were men who were almost as bad as women. As he tried to breathe, Matt could only imagine what the media would say about him after he fought so hard to prove that being an omega didn’t make him weak or a slut. That he could act just as much a man as any alpha, and the only difference was what he needed in the bedroom. He’d even made sure to only date alpha men, because even if an alpha is what he needed sexually, alpha women were even more of an abomination. The fact they seemed to think they could be held in the same regard as alpha men was truly laughable. It was one thing for a man to be weak and docile, hardly in his nature, but possible. The idea that a woman could change from being weak and docile, to strong and protective was simply harder to accomplish, even if that woman was an alpha. At least omega women knew their place.
After he took the test, Matt threw the test and the box in the dumpster so that hopefully Tucker wouldn’t see he’d taken it. He spent the rest of the night trying to act normal. He made dinner for the two of them and listened to Tucker talk about his day at work. Matt tried his best to pay attention but he couldn’t stop thinking about the test. He wanted it to be wrong, but he knew a false positive was extraordinarily unlikely. As he mulled this over he realized Tucker had asked him a question.
“What?”
“How was your day?” Tucker asked again.
“Nothing much, mostly just recovering from my trip,” Matt said “unpacked everything, cleaned up the house a little…” He felt like his voice was too high and Tucker would notice any second. Tucker did not in fact notice, he just nodded and returned to his unseasoned chicken. As they laid in bed that night Matt was restless. He thought about everything that had happened during his last heat, over a month ago now, and wondered if he could have done anything differently.
