Unexpected Company (eng)

Summary:

After years of living in solitude due to the constant rejection he faces for his hybrid nature, Inuyasha finds an injured wolf demon in the forest, and things are never the same again.

Notes:

Well, this is a story I honestly didn’t know if I should translate because of the kind of themes it touches on at some point, but in the end I said, meh, who cares. I wrote it a few years ago for an event called October Monster Fucker and, well, now you see why.

So please keep in mind, it’s even in the tags, there’s an +18 scene that involves one of them in wolf form. If that’s not your thing, don’t read it, okay?

Alright.

Other things to keep in mind about this story: I know perfectly well that Sesshomaru’s mom is not named Irasue, that’s just what fans call her and I’ll call her that because I feel like it. Koga and Inuyasha getting along? I guess warning you about a ton of OOC is unnecessary. How do these two even know how sex between two guys works? Actually, how do they know about sex at all? Who knows, let’s just say they saw demons, animals, or humans fucking at some point, who cares juejuejue.

1

It’s been a long time since Inuyasha lost track of how long he’s been living in solitude.

After his mother’s death, there was no one left by his side to really care about that. The small cabin in the middle of the forest, protected by mysterious ways -a trick from his late mother- is all he has left in the world, and he clings to it with everything he’s got. Neither humans nor demons can get close enough to find it. His mother told him that only if he wished, other creatures could enter, but why would he want that? He’s a bastard, half demon and half human. Neither humans nor demons want him around. They’ve made it very clear, time and time again, that his mere existence makes them want to kill him. They consider his existence one of nature’s gravest mistakes and say his annihilation is necessary. So, many years ago, he stopped trying. He only leaves his grounds to hunt for food and sometimes steals what he needs to survive from a nearby village because, well, why not?

So, when he caught that scent on one of his supply trips, he was very tempted to ignore it. The smell was clearly from a demon. There was blood and rot mixed with the scent, and he couldn’t care less. But he couldn’t keep ignoring it when, along with the smell, faint whimpers reached his sensitive ears, which twitched restlessly on top of his head.

Inuyasha knows better than anyone what it’s like to have no one to help you when you’re hurt. How much you can whimper hoping for a little help, but no one ever comes to your rescue.

He’s never going to admit the eternal feeling of loneliness that’s plagued him for as long as he can remember. For years he had his mother by his side; he knows she gave up her normal life to raise him properly, taking care of him and never leaving him alone. That’s why, deep down, he truly hates solitude. How do you get used to it if there was once a time when you were surrounded by love?

From the sounds, he thought he’d find a dying demon pup, but what he found was a huge black wolf. Its fur was as dark as the night around them, and if it weren’t for his nose and ears, he would never have found it in the thick forest.

He approached slowly, cautiously. The moment that demon caught his scent, he’d surely earn himself a good bite. But that didn’t happen. He managed to place his hand on the beast’s abdomen. It felt damp, and he quickly realized it was blood. Its breathing was ragged too. Inuyasha knows wounds, and the one he was touching was fresh, but at the same time he could smell older injuries that weren’t healing fast enough. The stench of infection and death hit him hard.

“You’re gonna die,” he said out loud, not even knowing why.

His answer was a whimper, and he realized that demon was, in fact, awake.

“Don’t bite me, okay?” he went on as he adjusted the things he’d taken from the human village that night.

He was grateful it happened to be a night he’d stolen blankets and some medicinal herbs his mother had taught him to use. He wrapped the items in blankets and tied them to his body so he wouldn’t lose anything. Once his hands were free, he gauged the demon’s size, felt around to locate the wounds, and as gently as possible lifted the massive body of the beast into his arms.

There were growls and plenty of protesting sounds; there were definitely broken bones too. He could feel them under the skin and flesh, and just the thought of it made Inuyasha ache terribly.

“What the hell did they do to you?” he muttered as he started walking as fast as he could without hurting the other any more than he already was.

He knew the demon could tell what kind of creature he was, but it wasn’t fighting back. Beyond the growls, which were probably complaints of pain, the demon wasn’t attacking or struggling in his arms. That spoke volumes about how bad things must be for him to even consider accepting help from a half demon.

“Let us through,” he whispered when he felt the edge of his territory beneath his feet.

Honestly, he had no idea how it worked, whether it was enough just to want it or if he had to say it out loud. Either way, he said it, thought it, and felt it all at once; the sense of urgency was overwhelming with every step.

“Don’t die, don’t die, don’t die,” he kept repeating all the way home. He was still saying it when he got inside with the demon in his arms. He kept saying it as he carefully laid the beast’s huge body on a bundle of worn but clean blankets.

He just kept thinking, Don’t die, don’t die, don’t die, while lighting candles, fetching clean water he had stored, preparing herbs, and rummaging for bandages.

It felt like hours, though it only took a few minutes before he had a greenish paste crushed in his mother’s old mortar. He brought the candles closer to get a better look at the demon’s body. Its breathing was still ragged, and the blankets were already soaked in red.

The demon’s strikingly blue eyes were locked on him. Inuyasha knew it was awake, but he hadn’t expected it to be watching him so intently. He felt a little hopeful seeing that, despite the horrific wounds, both old and new, the demon seemed quite conscious and alive.

He swallowed hard before leaning closer.

“I’m gonna clean you up a bit, put some medicine on, and then bandage you, okay? Try not to bite me, please.”

Just like he said, he grabbed one of the less bloodied blankets, soaked it in water, and began cleaning the dirt and leaves stuck in the wolf’s dark fur. He allowed himself a moment to feel the softness of the hair that wasn’t matted with blood, while also trying to figure out which bones were broken or at least what area to avoid pressing on when wrapping the bandages later.

Once the wolf was somewhat clean, he grabbed the green, odd-smelling paste he’d prepared earlier.

“This is gonna hurt, I’m warning you, but it’ll help you heal a lot faster,” he said, looking straight into those blue eyes, almost as if expecting an answer.

There wasn’t one, of course. Inuyasha wasn’t exactly an expert on demons, but he knew there were very few who could take on both animal and human forms, and animal-formed demons rarely bothered learning how to talk to other species that needed words, beyond picking up their language by ear. Not that it mattered; Inuyasha wasn’t exactly chatty. In fact, he couldn’t remember the last time he had a conversation with anyone besides himself or the animals that sometimes roamed near his house. Normal animals and insects were the only things allowed in, and honestly, he was grateful for that. He figured that if he had to stay here completely alone, without a soul around, he would have gone insane a long time ago. And sure, talking to birds isn’t exactly normal, but at least it kept him somewhat sane.

Anyway, the wolf just flicked his ears slightly, never breaking eye contact, and Inuyasha took that as permission to keep going.

He guessed the demon didn’t believe him when he said it would hurt, because the moment he applied a bit of the paste to one of the wounds, those sharp teeth were already on his hand.

“Whoa, shit, I told you it’d hurt,” Inuyasha exclaimed, startled to see those vicious teeth so close to his skin. The movement had been so quick it caught him off guard. “Let go, please,” he said, noticing that despite those fierce jaws being near his flesh, the wolf wasn’t biting down, and he wasn’t hurt. Maybe the demon had one last second of clarity before actually tearing a chunk out of him. “I haven’t lied to you so far, have I? So, trust me, it hurts, but you’ll get better way faster. If there was another option, I’d take it, but I can smell the infection inside you. You reek, mutt.”

One of the teeth grazing his hand cut him just enough to make him bleed a little, followed by an indignant growl at the nickname. Still, his hand was soon released, and he could keep going.

“See?” he said, unable to hide a grin on his lips. “It works really well,” he went on, applying some ointment to his own small wound, and when he wiped off the excess, the cut was gone. “It helps speed up healing in demons. It isn’t magic and you won’t be a hundred percent by tomorrow. But you’ll live, and in a week, you’ll be running around this forest like the mangy thing you are.”

He was starting to find the wolf’s indignant growls pretty funny. It made him seem alive and full of energy, and he was going to need all of that over the next few days if he wanted to survive.

“My mom was good with medicine,” he kept chatting as he applied the ointment, trying to distract the other from the pain. “She taught me everything she could, and it’s kept me alive all these years. It’s not always pleasant, of course, but what medicine is?”

He thought it would feel more awkward to have a one-sided conversation, but honestly, it was kind of comforting, especially because he knew the demon was listening. The twitch of its ears gave it away, the same involuntary movement his own ears made when focusing on a sound. There were also those eyes, incredibly blue and fixed on him.

“All done,” Inuyasha announced when he finished bandaging the wolf’s huge body as best he could. “I can’t go get more bandages tomorrow; they would notice if I showed up two days in a row. In a couple of days, when I need to change them, I’ll go back to the village for more,” he kept muttering, more to himself than to his guest. “I’ll also need more blankets; the first snow isn’t far off and your blood ruined the spares I had,” he noted, glancing at the wolf, which seemed to be dozing off. “Before I change your bandages in a few days, I’ll take you to the lake for a bath, fleabag.”

There was no reproachful growl this time; the demon had fallen asleep.

2

“Stay here,” Inuyasha told the wolf.

It had been two days since he found him in such bad shape. The stench of infection and rot was slowly fading, but there was definitely improvement. Inuyasha had been taking care of him, feeding him, and doing everything possible to make sure he didn’t die under his watch. Not like the demon could do much besides eat and sleep, though he did spend a small part of the day awake, listening to whatever Inuyasha was saying. He had become unexpectedly chatty and didn’t want to think about how much he had missed someone at least showing they understood his words.

The afternoon was slowly falling, and Inuyasha wanted to be near the village grounds before it got completely dark.

“One trip in the dark is enough. But if something happens, I might not be back until morning.”

He wasn’t an expert, but little by little he had started to understand the demon’s facial expressions, and that was definitely a look of confusion. Pretty impressive how expressive an animal’s features could be.

“It’s new moon tonight, buddy,” was all he said.

He had to run back to where the wolf was lying, stubbornly trying to get up instead.

“Hey, hey, I’ll be fine. Actually, it’s way better this way,” he tried to explain. “In a few hours I’ll be human, and if any villager catches me, they won’t think much of it, so it will be easier to slip away at dawn when I go back to normal.” Honestly, he wasn’t one hundred percent sure, but for his own convenience he was interpreting the wolf’s reaction as concern. “Either way, I know how to take care of myself, and I know the way back perfectly. You just stay put, no matter what. You’ll be safe here.”

It took him a couple of minutes, but eventually, the demon gave in and slumped back down, still far too injured to try stopping him or going with him.

“I’ll be back, don’t worry,” Inuyasha promised, gently stroking the wolf’s head. The only answer was a small pitiful sound before letting him go.

3

Just as he promised, Inuyasha came back. In fact, he was much quicker than either of them expected. The nights were getting colder, and for that same reason, not many humans went out after dark anymore, and few demons roamed these lands, since rumors said they were protected by some kind of dog demon or a wolf tribe. Inuyasha wasn’t sure, but honestly, there hadn’t been that many demons he had had to face in his life, and the few that had crossed him weren’t alive to talk about it. That alone kept other demons away.

So, it was easy for him to steal a handful of thick blankets, more medicinal herbs, and he even managed to grab some rice and vegetables. His diet was mostly fish and wild boar, roasted without much ceremony. But he figured he deserved something a little fancier for once. He wanted to remember the few recipes his mother had taught him.

When he stepped into his territory and approached the cabin, he found the wolf bristled, growling and ready to attack.

“It’s me, idiot,” Inuyasha said, rolling his eyes. “I’m not that different.”

And he was right. For the most part, his once white hair was now black as night, the dog ears on top of his head were gone, replaced by a pair of normal human ones, and his amber eyes had turned a darker shade.

He walked in to drop off what he had brought and light some candles. He hated losing the sharpness of his senses when he turned human. If someone asked him which of his two halves he preferred, it would be demon, no doubt. Human fragility pissed him off.

“Not a fan of humans? Can’t do anything about it, and this is my house. You can leave if you want.”

The words came out more bitter than he liked because, although the wolf wasn’t growling anymore, the demon hadn’t lain back down and seemed alert to every move Inuyasha made, like he was waiting for the smallest slip-up to rip his throat out.

“Well, there you go if you can heal yourself,” he said as he dropped a bunch of herbs in front of the wolf and stepped out of the cabin.

It was a small place with a single room, and as much as that hostile attitude pissed him off, he wasn’t about to kick someone out who was barely standing on pure willpower and hatred. He had been raised better than that, not like an animal or some feral demon.

He slumped down by the side of the cabin, leaning his back against the wood. It’s not like sleeping out here would put him in danger, but it was cold.

He could perfectly understand why a demon hated humans. Those wounds on the wolf weren’t necessarily caused by other demons. Could have been humans, hunters to be exact. Or maybe a little of both, judging by how many there were. Inuyasha, who hates both species for the same reasons, didn’t have much right to judge. Maybe the wolf had felt safe because, at the end of the day, Inuyasha was neither one nor the other. He just had to deal with the consequences once a month for a single night, but most of the time he lived in a limbo no one understood or accepted.

But that was reality, and like he said, there was nothing he could do about it.

He had no idea how much time had passed. At some point, he started to doze off. A noise beside him made him jolt awake, and his eyes snapped open. Over the years, he had learned to stay alert at all times, protected or not, even in his own territory.

What he saw beside him was hard to believe. The wolf was panting a little, probably from having walked out of the cabin to find him, but the weird part wasn’t that. It was the thick blanket in his jaws, like he had intended to bring it to Inuyasha. Looking closer, the wolf’s ears were pinned back, and his tail was tucked between his legs.

He could almost feel moved. Almost.

“Your wounds are gonna open,” was all he said, not moving from where he sat. Deep down, he thought the wolf deserved all the pain for the effort he was putting in to try to be considerate.

He guessed this was his way of apologizing or something, but Inuyasha was a vengeful being. You could also call it discipline.

He could tell the wolf understood his intentions and thought he would turn around because of them. Demons were incredibly proud creatures, after all, letting themselves be bossed around by a human? By a half demon? What a joke.

And yet, there he was, walking in short steps because those wounds had to hurt like hell. Inuyasha had no idea if the broken bones had healed yet and prayed, they weren’t reopening and bleeding all over again.

They weren’t. The wolf reached him, offering the blanket as a peace offering, and Inuyasha couldn’t help but smile, take the blanket, ignore the damp spot where the wolf had been biting it, and wrap it around himself.

“Come here,” he said, opening his arms and offering his lap to the wolf. “If you walk back inside, you’re gonna rip your wounds open again.” He slipped an arm around the wolf’s neck and gently pulled him closer until he was resting against him.

Sitting there, he could see just how huge the demon really was. At this height, the wolf towered over him by at least a head. He couldn’t imagine how big he would be standing on two legs.

He could carry him back inside, but he didn’t feel like putting in the effort, so he just wrapped the wolf’s body with the blanket, and the comforting warmth of that fur made him want to drift off again.

“Tomorrow you’re getting a bath, you seriously stink,” was the last thing he said before falling back asleep.

4

The next morning, everything went back to the same routine as the past few days. Not just Inuyasha’s appearance, but also the way he tried to forget the feeling of rejection from the demon, while the demon himself was doing everything he could to give Inuyasha some kind of attention.

When Inuyasha spoke, the wolf didn’t just twitch his ears, he wagged his tail a little too. They even tried to have conversations with easy yes-or-no questions for the wolf.

“One bark for yes, two for no,” Inuyasha told him, and got a bark in response.

He felt kind of stupid for not thinking of that earlier, but he justified it by remembering those were nights when he had bigger worries, like keeping a certain demon alive. Today the wolf seemed more lively, and while he definitely couldn’t go running around yet, he could at least walk a little more.

“Does it hurt?” Inuyasha asked as he examined his sides. He got two barks in response, but when his hand pressed a certain spot and the demon flinched, he knew he was lying. “You don’t have to lie to me. I need to know where it hurts so I can be careful.”

The wolf’s wounds had closed, but Inuyasha was sure it was just superficial healing, and inside his body the fight for his life was still going on. Still, it was good news. No risk of more bleeding, and that only meant one thing.

“Time for your bath!” he exclaimed happily, grabbing some soap he had stolen earlier from the human village and a couple of cloths to dry off the excess water.

He got two barks in response.

“I wasn’t asking!”

5

He was sure the problem wasn’t the bath itself but the cold. Snow could fall any day now, so the water was freezing. Still, if Inuyasha didn’t bathe the wolf now, or himself, he didn’t know when he’d get another chance. The cabin his mother had built had an extra room with something she called a “tub,” which could be filled with water. Logs were placed underneath to heat the water and make a nice winter bath. But hauling the water to the cabin, heating it, cleaning the place, and finding good, dry logs that he’d rather save for a fire sounded ridiculous.

“Stay still!” Inuyasha shouted, wrestling with the massive wolf. “I know you’re cold, I’m right here with you. The more you fight, the longer this will take.”

Just like he said, Inuyasha had stripped completely and stepped into the river with the wolf. At least he wouldn’t make him go through it alone.

As quickly as he could, he soaped the animal’s enormous body, trying to scrub away every trace of blood, dirt, and grime, while washing his own hair and body at the same time.

Maybe it was his imagination, that intense look the demon gave him, but the cold left him no room for coherent thoughts.

“All right, we’re clean and done, let’s get dry… Don’t do that!” He let out a startled squeal when, as soon as they stepped out of the water, the wolf shook himself violently to get rid of the excess water. “Filthy mutt,” he complained while wiping the water off his own body with one of the cloths he’d brought, then quickly bundled himself up in the cleaner clothes he’d brought as a change. “Come here,” he called to the wolf once he was ready.

The wolf wasn’t dripping as much, but he was still damp and shivering, so Inuyasha ran the cloth all over him, pressing gently to soak up the water so he’d dry faster.

“Let’s head back to the cabin soon. I’ll light a fire.”

Right in the middle of the cabin there was a small hearth he used for cooking and for heating the room.

The wolf curled up near the fire while Inuyasha started rummaging around.

“I got something good the other day when I went to the village. Ever had rice before?” Two barks in response. “Yeah, I figured. Can’t really picture a demon cooking rice. Or cooking anything at all. But my mom taught me how to make it, and with a meat stew, it’s gonna be great.”

It wasn’t surprising to see Inuyasha’s smooth movements as he chopped, stirred, and cooked, but to the demon, it was mesmerizing to watch him move around, biting his lip when he tried to remember the steps of the recipe and flashing a triumphant smile when he got it right.

A strange kind of hunger began to creep over the wolf. One he never thought he’d feel, one he’d denied a thousand times and nearly died for doing so. But here he was, staring at an adorable, chatty, and downright tempting half demon.

“Here,” the word snapped him back to reality. In front of him was a steaming bowl of food. The meat stew rested on something white and fluffy. “I’m sure you’re gonna love the rice.”

The demon didn’t doubt his words. After all, Inuyasha hadn’t lied to him once.

6

He’d thought about it a lot over the past few days. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to show a different form. Staying as an animal meant his wounds healed much faster, and he’d spent most of his life like that anyway. Not just for convenience, but because life was easier that way. Only demons could tell what he was by his scent, but humans would never know the difference between him and a regular wolf, which meant less danger if they didn’t see him as a threat.

There was also the uncertainty of whether that half demon would still be kind if he changed shape. He didn’t know if taking on a more human form would put him on the defensive. Still, he kept thinking about the new moon night, and by now, he doubted Inuyasha would reject him the way he had. That boy seemed far more considerate than he looked, no matter how solitary he acted.

So here he was, during the first snowfall of the season. The half demon had just returned from hunting to stock up on provisions. Ten days had passed since they first met. Koga thought it was time, especially if he wanted to go through with what he had in mind.

“What are you doing up? Feeling better?”

The boy always asked about his health, if anything hurt, if the bandages were too tight, if he got bored staying locked up there with him. Not for a single moment has he thought about whether if it’s boring or not. He liked being there.

So, he stopped overthinking and, under the boy’s wide-eyed gaze, started to transform. It hurt like hell, of course. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d changed shape. His bones, the broken and the whole, began to shift. His wounds followed the rhythm of the transformation, and for one awful second, he wondered if he would start bleeding again from forcing the change.

But nothing happened. When it was over, only a boy was left lying on the blankets where a wolf had been. He was panting from the pain, his hair black as the night and long, his skin bronze, his ears pointed like those of pure-blood demons, and a dark tail swishing behind him.

“That’s not supposed to stay,” he muttered when he saw it, but too exhausted to care. He collapsed onto the blankets again, still managing to turn his head to look at the other boy.

“Oh, you can change,” was all Inuyasha said, stunned but showing no sign of rejection. “Why didn’t you do it before?”

“I heal faster as a wolf.”

“You don’t look healed.”

“Clearly not, but…” He hesitated for a moment, or maybe lost his breath from the effort. “I’ve wanted to ask you something this whole time.”

He fell silent then, something seemed to hurt when he spoke. His voice was hoarse, like his vocal cords hadn’t worked in ages.

“Ask me what?” Inuyasha pressed, worried the wolf had passed out.

“You talk a lot,” Koga said, sounding like he was pulling himself together, “but you’ve never told me your name.”

Inuyasha thought for a long moment, as if replaying every word he’d spoken to the animal. Then he laughed as he moved closer to the boy lying on the blankets.

“I guess I didn’t,” he admitted at last. “I didn’t think about telling my name to someone who couldn’t say it.” In the end, he veered off course and started rummaging through his things, realizing the former wolf sprawled on the blankets was completely naked. “I’m Inuyasha. Do you have a name?”

“Koga,” the demon said, never taking his eyes off his movements.

“All right, Koga. Want me to help you get dressed?”

Koga hadn’t thought about how awkward it would feel to take a human shape again while being this hurt.

7

Surprisingly, things weren’t as awkward as they thought they’d be. Mostly because their routine didn’t change much. Koga still couldn’t move around much, especially since taking this form seemed to have broken something inside him again, or at least that’s how it felt, and Inuyasha acted no differently than before.

If anything, they both appreciated being able to have real conversations.

“Why don’t demons or humans come into this area?” Koga asked one day. All he could see were wild animals around them, and that was incredibly strange.

“My mom had this place built before people found out the child she was expecting was half demon, so some hunters put something around it at her request. By the time people found out, no one but her and me could get in. She told me only creatures I wanted here could cross the boundary. You’re the first in many years.”

“Impressive.”

“What happened to you?” Inuyasha asked another day. He’d been taking care of that wolf for nearly a month; he figured he deserved some backstory.

“My clan wanted to force me to mate with someone from another tribe. My older brothers inherited the clan’s power, so as the youngest, they think my only purpose is to be a bargaining chip for more power and territory.” Inuyasha raised an eyebrow, confused.

“That doesn’t answer my question.”

“Well, obviously I refused. They beat me badly to try to force me, so I ran. I kept running for months. Every time they found me, it was another beating, but I always managed to escape again. Honestly, when you found me, I thought about just giving up. I was dying anyway.”

“Wow, great timing on my part. Why did you refuse to mate? How bad could it be?”

“Ugh, don’t even say that,” the wolf groaned, rolling over until his head rested in Inuyasha’s lap. He felt the boy tense at first but quickly relaxed and started running his fingers through his dark hair. “Wolves are monogamous. Once we bond, it’s for life. It’s always been something respected in our tribe. How are you going to force someone, knowing that? But when my parents died, my brothers turned everything into a mess.”

“Family drama,” Inuyasha muttered, fully understanding Koga’s feelings, even if nothing like that had happened to him.

“Was your mom your only family?” Koga asked, figuring it wouldn’t be too out of line to ask since they were already talking about family.

“Yeah. She told me about my father and his family, but I never even met him. Toga… or I think they call him Inu no Taisho.”

Koga froze on the spot at that name and stared at Inuyasha in shock.

“That dog demon is your father? You’re Sesshomaru’s half-brother? Damn, let’s not even talk about Irasue. My brothers wanted power to start a war against them.”

“Well, I hope they get killed.”

“If they can even scratch them, it would be a miracle, but yeah, I hope they all kill each other.”

Inuyasha started laughing and held out his hand for a high five.

“For the family,” Inuyasha said.

“For the family,” Koga echoed, slapping his hand.

8

It had been about a month and a half when Koga could finally move freely.

“Everything’s back in place and healed,” he announced at last, walking into the cabin where Inuyasha was waiting.

It was a day with a fierce snowstorm, and Koga had offered to be the one to go hunting. He was carrying a massive boar on his shoulder, and Inuyasha suspected he had gone out of his way to find the biggest one just to show off.

“Uh-huh,” Inuyasha said, giving him a pat on the side, which made Koga double over in pain.

“Well, almost. That rib is still being a little stubborn.”

The half demon didn’t deny Koga’s improvement over that time, but he was sure he still had a ways to go before being completely healed.

“I gathered some good logs while you were gone, and with all this snow I managed to fill the tub, so tonight we’re having a good dinner and a hot bath.”

“Tub?” Koga asked, puzzled.

“I told you the other day, fleabag. It’s the big thing in the back, through that door. You fill it with water, light some logs underneath, and we get hot water for a nice bath. Go ahead while I get the boar ready for dinner and put the rest away.”

“You go first. I can do that.”

Inuyasha frowned. Koga always seemed reluctant about baths, and on top of that, he was acting way too eager to help today.

“What are you up to? You’re not skipping the bath. You stink.”

“I do not stink! And I’m not avoiding the bath, I’m just trying to be nice.”

“Hmm… suspicious,” the white-haired boy muttered, still eyeing him but grabbing the towel he usually used after bathing. “I’ll take your word for it. Try not to break anything.”

“Yes, yes, your majesty, whatever you say.”

It wasn’t exactly that Koga wanted to be helpful just for the sake of it. He wanted to show Inuyasha he wasn’t a burden, that he could help if he put his mind to it, if he was allowed to stay there by his side.

Koga wasn’t sure if he and Inuyasha were actually sharing some kind of moments together. They spent nearly all their time in that tiny cabin, so close to each other. And Inuyasha never pushed him away. He let him curl up beside him, wrapped up in arms and legs like they were a single being, maybe using the cold as an excuse.

And Koga really, really wanted to kiss him. Not just that. He wanted to do so many other things. But he didn’t know if Inuyasha wanted the same, or if he was just enjoying the company of another living being after years of being alone.

He was scared to ask if he could stay here much longer, for as long as Inuyasha would let him.

“I forgot to bring a change of clothes,” Inuyasha’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He had been cutting up portions of meat and putting the rest away on autopilot, totally lost in his head.

“You want me to…” Koga choked on his words when he saw Inuyasha step out wearing nothing but a strip of fabric tied low around his hips, barely covering enough to leave absolutely nothing to the imagination.

“No, it’s fine. You can go in now. I didn’t get in the tub so I wouldn’t dirty the water. I just rinsed off in the little space next to it. But you can get in if you want.”

He didn’t need to be told twice. Koga was already in the bathroom.

It was tiny, just enough space for that so-called tub and a little area between the door and the thing full of steaming water. Koga took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heartbeat and the massive erection he had. Big mistake, because the closed room was heavy with steam, and the scent of Inuyasha clung to every inch of it, sharp and herbal with a spicy note. The wolf’s hand flew to his erection, and it was pathetic how quickly he finished.

“Koga,” Inuyasha suddenly called from outside, and the wolf jumped so hard he was thankful he had let go of himself seconds before, or he might have ripped it off in shock. “When you’re done, if there’s still water, there’s a plug at the bottom on the right side. Pull it and the water will put out the fire underneath.”

“O-okay,” he managed to answer, and only when Inuyasha’s footsteps told him he was walking away did Koga feel his soul return to his body. “Fuck…”

Dinner was calm despite everything. Both seemed relaxed and drowsy after the hot bath and a good meal, so without much ceremony they threw on a few more logs to keep the fire going for a few more hours and provide warmth, then settled down to sleep.

Koga didn’t even think twice when he saw Inuyasha already lying in bed. He slipped under the blankets with him and curled up against his back tightly. As always, there was no sign of rejection.

A few minutes had passed, and the wolf felt his consciousness drifting when a deep sigh from Inuyasha jolted him awake.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, lifting himself a little.

“Tell me something,” Inuyasha said as he turned under the blankets to face him. “Do you think I’m an idiot?”

“No?” Koga replied, completely lost.

“That hesitation offends me,” Inuyasha frowned. Koga might have found it adorable if he weren’t so confused. “You know I’m half demon, right?”

“I’d never forget.”

“And that I have a good sense of smell.”

“Considering how often you tell me I stink, I’m not so sure.”

“Koga,” Inuyasha said again as he pushed the wolf down by the shoulders and straddled his hips. “Do you want to know what I smell?”

At that moment, honestly, Koga couldn’t care less what Inuyasha smelled. He felt the half demon grinding on his fully awake erection, and his thoughts were laser-focused on that.

“I can smell how much you want me,” Inuyasha continued, leaning down so his words brushed against Koga’s ear. “I can smell the cum you spilled a while ago.” Koga swallowed hard, embarrassed to be caught in something he considered vile. “I could smell it back when you were still a wolf.”

“The cum?” he asked stupidly.

“Don’t be an idiot,” Inuyasha growled, pulling back just enough to give him an irritated look. “How much you wanted me.”

“Shit,” Koga muttered, shame flooding his entire body. “Didn’t it disgust you that a wolf wanted you?”

“Not at all,” Inuyasha answered, and that was all Koga needed to finally, finally make his move.

The first thing Koga did was sit up among the blankets, leaving Inuyasha on his lap. He gripped the half demon’s ass and crashed his lips against his with hunger. He didn’t know and wasn’t going to ask if Inuyasha had any experience with this, because all that mattered was devouring him completely. His tongue forced its way between Inuyasha’s lips and attacked every corner with heat, tangling with the other’s tongue and drinking his taste like a man dying of thirst. He nipped at his lips, first the top, then the bottom, dragging his tongue over the tender, wet flesh before sucking on it. Then he caught Inuyasha’s eager tongue with his own lips when it came out searching for his.

Little by little, they stripped off their clothes, which wasn’t hard since the simple kimonos slid away with just a few knots undone.

“You taste so good,” Koga growled as he moved down Inuyasha’s neck, biting and sucking everything in his path. “Fuck,” he muttered when he tried to lean down further but sharp pain stabbed his side.

“We can stop,” Inuyasha offered, though clearly that was the last thing he wanted, not with that painful erection between his legs.

“No, I…” Koga started, but at this rate the pain would kill his arousal. “Let’s try something. If you don’t like it, we’ll stop, all right?”

Inuyasha didn’t have time to reply before the attractive young man he had lived with for weeks turned back into a massive black wolf with blazing blue eyes. And if he was honest, those eyes weren’t the only impressive thing, because that erection hadn’t gone anywhere.

In this form it was different, of course, very different, but Inuyasha couldn’t stop the shiver of arousal that ran through him, making his cock twitch in anticipation and a nervous laugh slip out.

“You’re an idiot,” he said once he recovered, and for one tense second Koga thought that was a rejection.

But Inuyasha rolled onto his stomach, lifted his hips, and presented his ass to Koga’s stunned gaze.

“You should have changed after prep me. With those paws I doubt you can manage it.”

Yes, Koga felt stupid, and honestly changing back was out of the question. It would hurt like hell and might make him pass out.

So, his best idea was to lower his head to that tempting hole and without thinking too hard drag a long lick over it, trying to get it as wet as possible. His tongue was rougher and longer like this, and Inuyasha didn’t know if the sensation had him on the edge of bliss or strangeness.

He decided to trust his cock, which wasn’t discouraged at all, and let himself enjoy every second. Koga’s licks were quick and wet, circling the twitching hole that clenched each time his tongue brushed the sensitive flesh.

When he thought the area was wet enough, he sealed his jaws around Inuyasha’s entrance, his hot breath sending shivers down the half demon’s spine. His tongue teased the rim, tracing it, pushing in a little, then pulling back, mimicking penetration.

“Are you going to play all night?” Inuyasha panted, burying his claws and his face into the blankets.

Koga growled in frustration. He couldn’t do much else, so without warning he shoved his tongue deep inside that hot, wet opening. The tight squeeze almost made him come right there, imagining what it would feel like on his cock in a few more minutes. His tongue twisted inside the heat, sliding in and out while letting saliva spill everywhere, dripping through his fur and over Inuyasha’s sensitive skin.

Inuyasha had to dig deep into his control to keep from coming untouched. That tongue was driving him crazy. It pushed deep, brushed sensitive spots, slicked him open for something much bigger. But he knew Koga’s tongue, saliva and willpower alone wouldn’t be enough. At some point he reached back, brought a hand to his mouth, bit off three claws and pushed that hand between his legs, joining Koga’s tongue with his own fingers. He started with one, but it slid in too easily so he added another. Feeling Koga’s tongue forcing deeper as if trying to reach his very core while his fingers stretched him open was insane.

Before he knew it, there were three fingers inside him along with that restless tongue, and if they didn’t move on soon, he was afraid he would pass out from the overload.

“Do it already, please,” he heard himself say after pulling his fingers out, which went back to clutching the blankets under him. He felt like he was going to collapse. All his weight was on his knees and part of his chest, bent in a position that with anyone else would have felt humiliating but now felt nothing but thrilling.

Despite his pleas, Koga took a good few minutes to pull away from his ass, absorbed in continuing to lick his insides. Eventually, he pulled away, very slowly, letting his tongue slowly make its way outside his body, feeling inch by inch of that muscle that every time he kissed him again, human or not, would always remind him the pleasure that Koga could give Inuyasha.

Inuyasha felt Koga shifting behind him, like he was trying to figure out what to do next. Inuyasha wouldn’t deny this was incredible, but next time he’d forbid Koga from shifting. The wolf had no idea how to mount him like this. His massive front legs ended up braced on either side of Inuyasha’s head, that was how long his body was, while that huge cock rubbed between his ass cheeks. But here was the problem: with his weight on his front legs, Koga couldn’t find the entrance. All he did was rut between Inuyasha’s cheeks, and at this rate he was going to come right there, which would absolutely unleash the boy’s wrath.

“This is ridiculous,” Inuyasha said, even as laughter shook through him.

He shifted higher, getting on all fours like Koga, which raised his hips. Somehow, he grabbed the wolf’s cock and guided it slowly until the tip lined up with his hole.

“There, push a little…”

His words died because the second the wolf felt the right spot, like a dog in heat, he slammed his hips forward and buried half his cock inside Inuyasha’s body.

Just like he imagined, the tight heat squeezed him so hard he thought he would black out. He was so lost in the shocks of pleasure racing through his body that he didn’t hear a word Inuyasha said. He just shoved in deeper until he was fully inside.

“Fuck… fleabag,” Inuyasha groaned, giving up on resisting and letting the wolf take him.

He could feel the beast give in to his primal side as his hips pounded hard, in and out with brutal precision, slamming into his prostate and every good spot inside him.

Maybe it was because he was in wolf form, but everything felt sharper in Koga’s mind. Every nerve of his cock was squeezed and stroked by that hot, sucking heat. He could hear every moan and gasp Inuyasha let slip, muffled into the blankets. He wanted to kiss him, bite his neck, mark him, torture his nipples with his fingers and his tongue. He wanted to do a thousand things, but in this form all he could give were hard thrusts and licks over his shoulders, his neck, his cheek, leaving wet trails mixing with sweat. Sweat that covered the half demon’s body even though the storm outside raged on, and even he felt overheated, though wolves don’t sweat.

Something inside Koga’s head snapped for a moment, making him move faster, his thrusts turning frantic, shoving every inch of his cock inside Inuyasha until, with a howl, his climax hit hard. In the haze of overwhelming pleasure, he bit down at the base of Inuyasha’s neck, the single thought pounding in his mind was mine, mine, mine while the sharp scent of Inuyasha’s release filled his nose.

“So…” Inuyasha was the first to speak after several long minutes where both of them were trying to recover from that savage round of sex. “How long is this going to last?”

Somewhere between his orgasm and the calm after the storm, Koga had shifted back to his humanoid form. He was clinging tightly to Inuyasha’s back, and the half demon wasn’t fighting it. Not that he could do much when he couldn’t get that cock out of his ass.

Because yeah, Koga hadn’t planned on knotting him, and even less on the knot not disappearing when he shifted back.

“Honestly? No idea,” the wolf replied, not sounding worried at all as he occasionally rolled his hips so the knot ground against Inuyasha’s prostate. “You in a hurry or something?”

“Fuck, damn wolf,” Inuyasha tried to complain, but his protests didn’t sound convincing when Koga’s movements were pulling all those breathless sighs out of him.

“Get used to it, Inuyasha,” the wolf murmured against his back, thrusting his hips until another erection stirred in the albino. “It’s all yours from now on.”

Inuyasha would never admit his heart skipped a couple of beats hearing that, not even knowing Koga could hear it. He just focused on adapting to that knot, and to that wolf that had come to stay.
