Chapter Text
"AHH!! Unhand me!"
Kaidou yelled as he flailed helplessly in the delinquent's arms. Compared to the larger man, he was significantly smaller, too much so to break free.
"This kid's really slow..." The delinquent holding Kaidou hostage muttered as his goons stopped right next to him.
Kaidou's panicked eyes darted to the tuft of pink hair getting farther and farther away.
"You're not coming back for your friend?!?" One of the goons raised his voice, genuinely a little surprised. "You do realize we're gonna beat up your pal, right?"
'...Oh good, I'm glad that at least you managed to get away, Saiki...'
Saiki rounded the fence and disappeared from sight. A small tear rolled down Kaidou's cheek as he looked down. The delinquents were stunned for a moment. Never before had they seen such a betrayal. Anyhow, the one holding Kaidou hostage threw him to the ground. He reached in his pocket but didn't pull anything out.
"Anything else you got, Twink?"
Kaidou stared at the 4 as tears blurred his vision. His body moved on it's own, scrambling to get away.
Kaidou's eyes widened.
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
Saiki paced in his room.
What the hell is wrong with him? Why didn't he stop? He had the chance and yet his legs wouldn't stop moving. He could have helped him.
Then again, Kuboyasu was passing by, so...
...Damn it, nevermind...
FLASHBACK
Saiki ran down the street. He paused at a corner to Teleport home when-
"Hey, what's up?"
Kuboyasu placed his hand on Saiki's shoulder, stopping him. Saiki turned around with his normal blank expression.
"I'm gonna head to the Gimei Cafe," Kuboyasu shifted his bag from one arm to the other. "Wanna join?"
Saiki shook his head.
"That sucks. It's fine though, I get it. See ya', homie. IMEAN- See you later, friend!" Kuboyasu stumbled down an alleyway, grumbling to himself.
Saiki teleported home.
FLASHBACK END
Kuboyasu was going in that direction, but he turned just before the shake down, so he missed it entirely.
Saiki sat on the edge of his bed, legs spread with his head in his hands.
Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. What made him think this was a good idea?
Actually scratch that, he wasn't even thinking at all. He acted entirely on impulse.
He should've-
3 faint knocks could be heard from downstairs.
Weird. Saiki wasn't expecting any visitors... Unless...
Saiki rushed downstairs and swung the door open so fast that he nearly ripped it off it's hinges.
He blinked.
He blinked again.
Then the sight finally processed.
Kaidou was standing right in front of him, Blood spilling down his face at a rapid rate. A part of his hair and head was stained with the blood pouring down his face. His blazer was gone and what was left was an even more torn up and unbuttoned button up shirt underneath. The top half was unbuttoned and it revealed his chest, two faint scars just below his pecs. There was a faint smile playing on his lips as he swayed back and forth on his feet.
'...What happened?' Saiki asked slightly hesitant.
Kaidou didn't respond. He just stared blankly at Saiki for a damn good 30 seconds before slowly blinking.
"They... me pewot..." His lips moved almost out of sync with his words, like those shows with the English dub being terribly off time with the character's lipsyncing.
'...pewot?'
"Pewot me? No..." Kaidou muttered, looked at the ceiling, chuckled, looked outside, and then at Saiki. His hand came up and pressed against his bloody face. "Shot... They shot me..."
Saiki's expression darkened. 'The delinquents?'
Kaidou didn't respond. He stared past Saiki. Saiki sighed, pulled Kaidou towards him, and assisted Kaidou inside.
Kaidou stared at Saiki as Saiki paced in the living room. Kaidou shifted from a sitting position to a laying one on the sofa.
"Candy?"
Saiki glanced at him. Saiki blinked, realizing that he forgot about the bleeding. He went to the kitchen and got the medical supplies from under the sink. He came back and immediately put a wet cloth on the bleeding area. Kaidou whimpered.
"Bull...et..."
'I know.'
Saiki could already see the bullet inside his brain. It was lodged right where his brain signals to help him speak.
'How many times were you shot?'
Kaidou drooled.
"This many..." He held up one finger, then 2, then 3.
'Three times...'
"You're a cutie pie... Why has no one eaten you yet..."
'...Let's get you to the hospital.'
"Bleh, Kusuo, you know better."
'I do?'
"Yeah," Kaidou flopped forward, knocking Saiki's hand back and leaning on his shoulder. "Ya' do."
Saiki went stiff, staring at the blood soaking into his shirt. His hand gently found it's way to Kaidou's back.
"...It hurts, Kusuo..." Kaidou whimpered, pressing the shot side on his head into Saiki's shoulder.
Saiki let out a tiny sigh.
'I know. Come on.'
His hands slipped under, pulling Kaidou onto his lap before standing up. Kaidou's legs wrapped around his waist. Kaidou mumbled nonsense against his ear, unable to find something coherent and constant to talk about. Saiki's gaze lingered on the ground for a moment longer than he wanted.
This was his fault. Kaidou is like this because of him. He ran when Kaidou needed him. Kaidou needed him so badly, yet and ran and abandoned him. What kind of person was he for just leaving his friend, who mind you considers him as his ride or die, in a ride or die situation?
He's pathetic.
"Kusuo...?"
Saiki's purple eyes drifted to Kaidou. Kaidou was burying his face in his neck.
"Mmm... I love and trust and enjoy and wanaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa save the world with you because you're reallyreallyreally cool..."
Kaidou drifted off, eyelids growing heavy. Saiki felt his heart beating faster and faster. He rested his hand on the back of Kaidou's head and walked him out of the house.
The streets were quiet. Thankful there was no one here to scream and wake up the neighbors from how terrified they sounded (Kurumi and Kuniharu wink wink). Saiki could do without the noise, especially if he already has the stress of getting the furry Chihuahua to the hospital.
To the hospital they go.
Something Saiki never wants to say again. Especially not with Kaidou in his arms.
Saiki teleported.
