Wish Rants

Summary:

A full on rant to make the story of Wish makes sense for my sanity.

Notes:

I won't lie if a fic with these concepts in mind exists, I'll read it.

btw near the end, I had to change to make it a more disney verified ending because my friend said its giving a dreamworks type of end.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

STORYBOARD ON HOW FUCKING WISH COULD BE BETTER. I NEVER SAW THE MOVIE, I SAW THE REVIEWS AND ONE SONG AND THOUGH OH HELL NAH.

World: magic is abundant, everyone can use magic to a certain degree (humans being the weakest)

  • This lead to a group of wizard researchers that want to improve the magic use, Magnifico is one of them as well as the King of the Kingdom.

Concepts/ Tags: The goat, the marketable star, the sympathetic villain, Starboy ( he will always be in every version and I will be damn if not), heroine and villain are related, Queenie is dead (rip)

Additions: The witch, the great evil (placername), Specters- great evil’s minions

Indictations:

Dark green= forbidden magic

White= regular magic

Golden/ pixie like magic= magic of magical beasts ( Stars count as one of them)

Motive:

  1.
  • Villain: Magnifico fell in love with the Queen and Asha is then born. However, early on the Queen had died.
  • This causes Magnifico great grief and a resolve to use the magic to bring back his wife from the dead

  • Heroine: because Magnifico is focus on his research, he neglects Asha
  • This makes Asha to go through the researcher path and get a title high enough that Magnifico to finally notice her.
  • Asha maintains that innocence to a degree since her studies prevented her from making any close friends

Story (1):

Outline:

It gives some narration, picture book style and ends as Magnifico closes the door.

“Long ago, magic was as abundant as can be. A kingdom flourish in it ( insert kingdom name here), yet they wanted more. Magic can be improve, as they thought”

  • insert the establishment of the Wizard Researchers with Magnifico as the head chief or smt

Then he falls in love with the Queen, and they have a child. Asha. The world is as perfect as it can be but then tragedy strikes The Queen had fallen ill and no magic could cure her, hence her death. Magnifico is in grief, and could not accept the loss of her wife and plans to develop magic to bring back the dead. The doors behind him close as he isolates himself to his research.

Then it pans to little Asha staring at the family picture, with hints of sadness and determination. She holds a spell book, (implying she goes become a researcher just like her dad). Then one of the maids call her name andddd timeskip.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, Asha is now a full grown adult. She has recently become a part of the researcher’s and gained a high enough status to be in line with the top head researchers. A normal day is ahead of her, possibly giving a song sequence before she opens the door.

Researchers are in awe at what’s happening at the center of the room. Asha joins the crowd as Magnifico finally accomplishes his goal as Asha’s mother opens her eyes. She is the same as 20 years ago, and Asha’s eyes widen. The king is proud, everyone else is in joy with the achievement but Asha knows- her gut feeling that something is not right.

The queen is not fully back. She is merely an empty husk that happens to be moving. Her eyes are dull and no one seems to notice. Especially the King since is bursting with joy. Magnifico looks at Asha, well not really- as all eyes is on his wife. Their family is back together.

Scene cut to the family having dinner. Asha is unnerved with how mindless at how the queen is moving. She even needs Magnifico to hand fed her. Asha tries to push back her complaints but finally makes a comment. Her shy plea causing Magnifico to have a full on outburst. Asha is in shock because this had never happen before. Throughout her life, she has seen Magnifico as what the people see and an outburst nearly has her in tears.

Asha excuses herself and went to her garden to get her feelings in tact. She is embarrassed with how she acted; guilty that she messed up. They were so close with having a normal family life, and she ruined it. Asha takes a deep breath and makes a breathless wish. (The audience only hears the first half of the wish + Tiana reference)

One of the many stars start to twinkle. (It is really obvious which one, it’s like the old Disney movie where the evil queen picks out the red book out of many detailed books). Asha squints in suspicion before the star starts to rush towards her direction. Asha’s eyes widen and take cover, dodging the star as it crashes into a bush. Asha watches as a boy rises from the bushes. He rubs his head and Asha approaches.

Starboy finally gets his bearings together and greets Asha with enthusiasm. He is here to grant her wish, which Asha is confused and a bit scared. Noticing her demeanor, Starboy takes back the enthusiasm and introduces himself. He kisses her hand and Asha gets butterflies in her stomach.

  • Note: Asha has been used to that form of greeting by many, but none has been as gentle as his.

A little tension is there before the moment is rudely interrupted by the sounds of guards finally approaching the area. Asha push Starboy back into the bushes as the guards come closer. She redirects the guards away from them and Starboy peeks out. The coast is clear and Asha lets out a breath of relief. Starbody eases the tension a lot more and the duo talk a bit before Asha gets summoned to the throne room.

Asha bids Starboy goodbye and heads to the throne room. Unbeknownst to her, Starboy turns into that fucking marketable plushie Star. He hides in Asha’s pockets as she finally open the the doors to the throne room. She gulps as she sees Magnifico sitting on the throne, (the queen is not there). It’s hard to tell what he is thinking and before she could speak, Magnifico surprisingly apologies for his uproar. The nerves racking in Asha dies down and she apologozies with more confidence now.

Throughout the whole scene, Starboy stares at Magnifico with suspicion. Fragments of dark green speckles surrounds Magnifico. It’s just enough for Starboy to be alarmed. As the interaction between Asha and Magnifico ends on a good note, she hurries back to the garden to tell Starboy the news.

Just as she runs through the halls, Starboy leaves her pocket and surprises her. He turns back to his normal form, he’s doubtful but Asha doesn’t notice. She’s telling him with joy but he has to burst her bubble. He starts to explain that there is something is off with Magnifico. Asha realizes and comments of what had happened recently, i.e. the revival of her dead mother. Starbody freaks the fuck out because that is a rule of magic that shouldn’t be broken (NEVER BRING BACK THE DEAD- Aladdin call out). Now both of them are panicking and Asha gets the idea to solve this.

All knowledge of magic is at the Wizard Tower. ( journey time, heroes journey ahh) They plan to head to the Wizard’s Tower to find answers, mainly because Asha doesn’t want her dad to suffer huge ass consequences for bringing her mother back. They need to figure out where Magnifico gained this magic as well find the cure before it’s too late.

  • Note: the reason Starboy can’t outright erase the bad magic from Magnifico is mainly because he does not  have the authority to. Even if he did, magic is something that can’t be destroyed, like energy. It can only turn into something else.

They head to the Wizard’s tower and enter through the staff entrance. Asha is quite nervous because this is after hours, most of the workers already clocked home and she plans to make a reasonable excuse if they’re caught. She looks up and sees Starboy straying far away and heads to a restricted area that she is not authorized to go. Asha chases after him in a panic, whisper-screaming at Starboy to come back. But he focuses on tracking the same traces that nearly has him caught by security protocols. Asha saves him just time, telling him that they can’t just willy nilly walk around the tower. After hearing that Starboy casts a spell and they bypass a lot of security protocols, though Asha covers herself with her cloak just in case.

The traces runs out and they’re at a dead end. Asha is confused, thinking they got lost. ( Asha has never been to this section). But Starboy uses his magic to reveal the hidden door. ( I like to imagine that one scene in Howl’s moving castle when Howl is holding Sophie’s waist as they enter; Starboy really likes to put his arm around Asha). Some doki doki bullshit happens as the vault opens and strong air escapes and they enter the vault. The vault is filled with riches akin to the cave in Aladdin. At the center is a goat statue.

Note: In their kingdom, goats symbolize with luck, health, prosperity, fertility. Often these goat statues are in the countryside, but they’re widespread enough to have emblems in people’s homes.

Asha is suspicious of the statue. Usually the statute of the goat often depicts the goat as… You know, well a goat. But, this statue has the goat depicted with a humanoid body with a goat head, holding the spear.  Before they can get further into the vault, the statue awakens. It begins to speak in a low deep voice. It is the guardian of the vault and the duo are the intruders. A bit of fighting happens, Starboy has to maintain is magic to prevent destruction of the vault and from hurting Asha. Starboy is not outright creative, so Asha cooks up a quick plan and tell Starboy to shrink the statue.

And so he did, Starboy shrinks the goat. The goat is comically bewildered at the situation, shocked that he became a tiny MARKETABLE GOAT. He is so shocked that Starboy and Asha laughs at the situation. Comedic break and Asha picks the goat up. she coos him and the goat goes “Unhand me woman!” The goat has admitted defeat and the duo explores the vault.

Starboy finally catch the traces once again. The traces are stronger now and they follow them to another dead end. At this point the goat is in relief before Starboy reveals the hidden entrance again. They go up higher to a lone room, Magnifico’s room to be exact and all the traces comes from a memoir. The memoir is quite old, torn from the edges and colors lost to time. It has a foul scent that both Starboy and Asha immediately cover their noses. Well then, they found the source. They approach the memoir and the goat struggles out of Asha’s grip. The goat yells at them not to go closer but Asha manages to touch the memoir. Sirens/ alarms blares, all security protocols are in action.

“YOU FOOLS,” the goat screams, the alarms are causing all of the tower’s defenses up. The defense team, magical golems are approaching the vault and Starboy is ready to fight. Asha panics, telling them that they have to go. Escape somehow, because she doesn’t want to risk getting caught. She already felt guilty for doing this, and frankly she rather not get this on her record. And possibly get fired; she worked to hard for this.

They scour the vault, looking a way out other than the entrance. The goat complains, that there is none but Starboy feels a gust of wind, a tiny, tiny, gap in one of the walls. He found a way out. (Tangeled reference.) The golems are closer now, closing in to the secret vault. Starboy calls Asha and she hurries, she take a moment to grab the memoir. Then her hand slips on the podium, scraping her finger. Then a magic circle appears. Starboy runs and grabs Asha just in time before they get teleported out of the tower. Behind them are gargoyles flying to them, they found the intruders. Asha notices a river, and knowing that gargoyles are weak to water she tells Starboy to go to the river. He flies them to the river and Asha tells him they gotta get submerged and they do. The gargoyles stop by the river, watching the trio being washed away.

They end up in a forest and they’re winded by the adrenaline, especially Asha because she never felt such a pumping experience. Starboy and Asha stared at each other for a heartbeat then the tension is broken by the goat dramatically complaining how he’s life is over. How he broke every fundamental rule that he was programmed to do. Asha huffs, moving the goat on her lap. She reassures him that there is more to life. (Quite ironic given how Asha lived her life up to this point.)

Song sequence (omg like you gotta kiss the girl type of song from the little mermaid + sun is rising)

The song ends and the goat begrudgingly tells the duo about the owner of the memoir. Hopeful, for more information, the duo ask more questions to the goat. Unfortunately, the goat doesn’t know. It has been decades since he saw his owner but the memoir starts glowing. The trio perks up and Asha takes the memoir out. The owner of the memoir is now shown and Asha recognizes the last name. It’s one of the clients she dealt with during her intern years. They get back up and hurry to the location of the owner.

Then cuts to the castle. Magnifico is progressively getting worse. The queen is melting, she basically looks like a kid version of a skinwalker ( cause Disney ). So in a panic, he immediately sacrifices a servant that happened to come in at a bad timing. The queen goes back to looking normal, as normal as a porcelain doll. However, she is now in a slump. Magnifico is now worried, and thinks its not enough. He needs more to sacrifice.

Goes back to the trio as they finally arrive in town. Upon seeing the townsfolk, Starboy gets curious and it starts the sequence of that of Tangled when Rapunzel explores the town. By the time they arrive at the shop, it’s mid-day and the shop is filled with customers. It takes them a while til they find the owner. ( the memoir glows brighter when it’s closer to the owner, the witch).

The witch is a retired witch, given the stigma from years about the race of witches. At first, she brushes them off, clearly feining innocence about knowing. However, the memoir glows. It immediately flies back to her, much to her displeasure. Regardless, the witch doesn’t know much of this memoir. The memoir is years beyond her, the ownership only transferred to her. (Think of it as an family heirloom that happen to come back after years of being lost.)

The witch reluctantly brings them to the back to talk things through. The duo begs the witch for some sort of a clue but the witch goes “I’m sorry but I don’t.” They are now at a deadend (figuratively). Then commotion from outside. They all come out and see the sky’s turning a dark green. All going to the castle’s direction.

Asha is panicking cause wtf is going on and Staboy reassures her, telling her that he’ll go check cause he’s fast and flies to the castle. He gets the ;lre and the castle is that of sleeping beauty. A full on fucking massacre took place. Well more like people sleeping cause kids movie.

Starboy tries to bring some of the survivors on their feet, protecting them with the magic he has.Btw there’s a limit on how much he can cast, the closer he is to the wisher, the more magic he can use

The survivor goes, the king… the king- he’s gone mad! Get help please! And Starboy reassures him that he’ll do that after he get the survivors out of here. But uh oh he gets caught by none other than magnifico himselfMagnifico is very corrupted here and the forbidden magic is too strong for Starboy to bear and he faints

Cuts back to Asha with the witch, they’re actively trying to calm the townsfolk down but some of them are faintingThe witch’s heart drops as she felt the lack of a pulse. Her eyes widen as she realizes what’s going on. She runs back to the workshop, dragging Asha with her and she turns the place upside down finding a specterIt took them a bit before they found it thanks to the goat and the witch tells Asha what’s happening

It was an event- decades ago when this occurred. The land they’re in used to be corrupted thanks to the forbidden magic used by certain individuals that ruled this landAsha’s ancestors, the founders of the kingdom had defeated these individuals and sealed the great evil down below, leaving the corrupted relics under the witch’s supervisionThe witch had no idea how the memoir is in the wrong hands but they have to stop it before the great evil rises again

What Magnifico thought was going to bring back his wife was nothing of that, he basically made her a vessel for the great evil

Anyways the witch cast a barrier from the magic, undoing Starboy’s spell and leaves the goat to protect the remaining of the survivors. Everything will go back as it was if they’re too lateShe and Asha flies to the kingdom, avoiding specters that are in their way Asha keeps trying to find Starboy from above and then lightening strikesAt the beacon of the highest tower is Starboy tied up, his glow is flickering

They hurry before they get hit by Magnifico, causing them to crash down to the the courtyardThey’re surrounded by specters (bodies of the dead) and they try to by pass them but more stronger enemies are in the way. The witch stays back, yelling at Asha to go ahead without herThen the sequence of Asha running up the tower, hitting the specters with the specter/ wand thing Before she finally reaches the top, encountering her corrupted father and mother

The mom doesn’t even looks the same, she’s a monster with her mother’s face. Her features are sharper, more angular in a maleficent way. Asha looks up and Starboy’s life is draining. She yells at her father, crying, bashing, that all she wanted was her father to see herTo love her like every other child had. Then Magnifico turns his head and he is not the sameIt’s too late for him, he is one with the magic and a fight happens

Asha casts her magic, shaky but it’s effective to a degree But it’s not enough, Magnifico is more stronger, he corners her almost winning but the attacks he dodged freed Starboy and at the last second Starboy saved Asha with a fucking under hookThis causes Magnifico to stumble back, and gains a bit of clarity. His eyes is on Asha. He finally sees her of the first time before he gets sucked back in to the magic

The great evil is taking over him, and the evil laughs. The evil mocks them, using a distorted version of Magnifico’s voice and its round twoThey fight but they’re too weak. In their last moments Asha kisses StarboyStarboy gets a fucking power up and heals Asha. The great evil is confused, its magic is not doing a thing on them. The duo is glowing as the evil backs up in fearIt’s influence is getting weaker and it screams for helpAll the specters are running to the source and the duo has to finish it quickIt’s round three and the evil is losing as time progresses

It’s losing control as Magnifico is gaining his back but at the last second the evil does the unspeakable and fucking stabs himself, leaving a hole in Magnifico’s body. For the last time Magnifico finally gains control and use his final moments to hug Asha and apologizes.A full two minutes pass and he falls in his daughter’s arms.

But it’s too late to grief as the Asha’s mother begins to move. The evil has given her mother clarity for a brief second and to her understanding Starboy is to blameAnd it’s on siteShe runs them down while Starboy is trying to keep the specters out. He’s in a vulnerable state and Asha saves him just in time.

She yells at the evil. And the mother lets out a cry. There’s a mix of protection of grief in her mother’s voice before it goes outA fight nearly happens again before she’s stopped by Magnifico He holds her down as he yells at the duo to end it To end all of it. For another moment he tells Asha he’s proud of her before the duo blast them, ending the fightThe specters are disintegrating back underground as the sky clears

It pans to the witch and the other survivors with relief as it goes back to Asha sobbingThe blast had returned the king and queen to their normal selvesBut they’re dead. Dead in each other armsIt’s peaceful, they’re in peace and Starboy hugs Asha as she grieves

Time passes and the kingdom is reconstructed and the funeral of the king and queen commencesAs Asha stands in front of the crowd, Starboy whispers her in the ear, you still haven’t made your wish (Implying she could bring back her mother and father). She shakes her head. She knows that after all the pain the kingdom has gone through and the karma they’ve made. They must atone. She wishes for them to be at peace and makes a promise to the kingdom

(could stop there)

Add on:

But Starboy isn’t having none of that bs, he knows that she wants to see her parents again. He would break the world’s fundamentals if he had to but he knows she wouldn’t want that for him.And gives Asha a chance to see her parents againThe world is displeased but he did it, he brought back the dead even if Asha would hate him for itBut he did it. He broke the rules and brought them back from the dead and now is human.
