Chapter Text
“So, Addison, this is the first real chance we’ve gotten to talk today, so fill me in. How’s LA? And Henry and Jake?”
Meredith has just gotten her kids to bed as she sits on one end of the couch, one leg bent and tucked under her. Addison mirrors her position on the other end of the couch.
“Oh you know, life is… fine,” she says with a sigh.
“Fine fine? Or Meredith fine?”
Addison meets her eyes then, searching for any indication of, well she’s not even sure, obligation maybe? But she finds none. Her blue eyes are laced with genuine curiosity and concern, like she actually cares. It’s a strange feeling for Addison, that someone actually cares. She leans into it.
“Okay, so not really fine. I own the practice now, but honestly I’m bored of it. Kind of burnt out. Henry is the perfect little sour patch kid, he’s my pride and joy. Some days, he’s the only reason I smile.”
That lands hard when she says it out loud, like she’s only just realized how unhappy she is.
After a long pause, Meredith gently pushes, “and Jake?”
“Left me for the perfect twelve year old,” she pauses. Meredith doesn’t respond, just raises an eyebrow when Addison starts laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
“I called you that once, ‘the perfect twelve year old’, and that was what, fifteen years ago? Now you’re all grown up, older than I was when we met, and that makes me, well, old.”
Meredith shifts closer to the redhead, just close enough to lay a hand on top of her arm which is resting on the back of the couch, “Addie, you’re not old. Have you, um, tried dating again?” She’s not sure why she’s so nervous to ask such a question.
“Oh please, I’ve already had 4 loves in my life. Mark is dead, Derek is dead, Jake left me for a girl in her twenties. I have wrinkles in new places like every other week, I have to color my hair, I crack like a glow stick when I get up in the morning. I’m old, Meredith, and I don’t think I deserve or even want another love in my life.”
“Well I certainly can’t make you want it, but don’t think for a second you don’t deserve it. You deserve every good thing this world has to offer.”
Meredith pauses, gives the other woman a chance to protest. She doesn’t reply at all. Meredith continues, “can I ask you a question?”
Addison meets her eyes again, “of course.”
“You mentioned Derek, Mark, and Jake, but you said four loves…” she trails off, raising her eyebrow.
“Yeah she uh, she was before them all. High school actually.” Addison takes a breath, hesitantly looking at Meredith for the shock, finds none. “We met when we were eleven, best friends all through middle school, then the night of our homecoming freshman year she kissed me. It was magical, I’ve never felt quite that way kissing anyone else honestly. We started dating in secret, experimented everything with each other. Then just before senior year her dad found us naked in her bed, she got shipped off to god knows where. Last I knew she’s married with like four kids.”
“Addie, I’m so sorry, that must’ve been awful,” Meredith is looking at her with sympathetic eyes, “have you been with any other women?”
“After that shitshow I just told you? No I haven’t. I was too terrified and traumatized to tell my parents I like girls too so I just stuck with dating men. Ironically I found out a few years ago that my mom was a secret lesbian, but now I’m too old and undesirable to put myself out there.”
Meredith rolls her eyes, “would you stop saying that, Addison? You are more beautiful now than you were 15 years ago.”
“Oh please, you’re just saying that to make me feel better,” Addison scoffs.
“No, Addie, I’m not. Maybe it’s just my deep seeded mommy issues, but I truly think you are so stunning, and beautiful, and sexy.” She cups her face then, forcing eye contact.
Addison is nearly stunned to silence, all she can do is let out a breathy, “Meredith,” as she leans into her touch.
“Addison,” she says, leaning in slowly as she searches the older woman’s eyes for any sign that she should stop. Instead all she sees is desire as her lips finally meet Addison’s. Her eyes flutter closed, sinking into the soft kiss.
Addison’s hands find her hips, gently pulling her closer until she’s practically on top of her. They kiss softly for a few minutes before pulling away breathless.
Meredith leans their foreheads together as they catch their breath, “don’t you ever say you’re too old and undesirable ever again. Not when I’m right here.” Addison smiles, looks like she might cry but she doesn’t.
“I know you’re supposed to sleep in Amelia’s room with her tonight, but since she got called in, do you, um, maybe, want to sleep with me?”
She sees the slight panic in the other woman’s eyes, quickly reassuring her, “oh god, I literally mean sleep. I mean, well, I’d do really anything you want to, but I’m definitely not pushing you into anything so yeah, sleep. Next to me, or in my arms, or whatever.”
“I’d like that Meredith,” Addison blushes, feeling butterflies in her stomach for the first time in who knows how long.
Meredith stands, helping the redhead to her feet and then she leads her upstairs. They both change into pajamas before climbing into bed, facing each other.
Meredith tucks a stray hair behind Addison’s ear, “I’m really glad you’re here, Addie.”
“Me too, Mer,” she pauses with a soft smile before continuing, “I, um, I think I’d like to kiss you again.”
Meredith’s cheeks flush at how cute she is, “I’m certainly not stopping you.”
Addison leans in, kissing her softly like they did downstairs, but this time it heats up. Within minutes, Meredith feels Addison’s tongue on her lip, asking for entrance. She happily lets her in, moaning when their tongues touch for the first time.
Their hands start to roam as Meredith nudges Addison’s face to the side so she can kiss across her jawline and down her neck. Addison pushes Meredith onto her back as her breathing gets heavier and Meredith is pulling the redhead on top of her.
Soon enough, Addison is straddling one of Meredith’s legs as they continue their make out session. She bends her knee, unintentionally pushing her thigh between the older woman’s legs. She doesn’t even realize what she’s done until Addison is moaning into her mouth.
Meredith is about to pull back and apologize, when instead she feels Addison grind down onto her, chasing that feeling. Her hands find Addison’s hips, gently guiding her to grind on her thigh. They’re both fully clothed, Meredith thinks she shouldn’t be this turned on, but she can’t help it.
“God, Meredith, I feel like a teenager,” Addison moans out, effectively dry humping her leg at this point.
“Good, Addie, you deserve to feel young,” Meredith threads a hand through red hair, pulling Addison down into a hard kiss. Their tongues fight for dominance, Meredith’s eventually winning while Addison is distracted by the coil tightening in her belly.
“Mer, fuck, I’m close, oh god,” her movements are getting frantic as she chases her climax.
“You’re so hot like this, Addie. Come for me, come on my leg.”
Addison crashes into her orgasm, a string of expletives on her tongue. Her hips gradually slow down until she’s laying still, her forehead resting on Meredith’s, “you’re incredible.”
Meredith shakes her head, “you’re perfect, Addie. Now let’s get some sleep, it’s late.”
Addison pulls off of her a bit, “but you didn’t…”
“It’s okay, Addison. This was perfect, now be my big spoon and hold me.”
Addison nods her head, giving the blonde a quick kiss before climbing off of her. Meredith rolls onto her side as Addison puts one arm under her head and the other across her waist, pulling her in tight.
“Goodnight, Meredith.”
“Goodnight, honey,” Addison hears the pet name and smiles, falling into the best night of sleep she’s had in a long time.
