Chapter Text
Freezing water seeped between the maze of knots twisting through his hair; slowly dragging towards his face as his face bent over the side of the bathtub. Soap – irritating soap – dripped ever-close to his eyes, leaving burning tracks behind. Trails of soapy water intertwined with tears dripped carefully into the tub, joining the mess of dirty water beneath it.
Chuuya was exhausted.
In the far distance, he hears the ping of his phone. Ah, must be another mission… he thinks, letting his mind wander off, thinking about how he’d been so packed with missions lately. He hadn’t even found the time to eat since yesterday morning.
Drying his hair with a nearby towel, Chuuya slowly checks over his notification history.
+5 notifications from “Mackeral”
+1 notifications from “Boss”
His eyes light up momentarily seeing the Mackeral’s name again, blink once and you’d miss it completely; the shine disappeared the second it showed up. He returned to staring blankly at the screen for a while.
A notification from the boss was normal, it could have been a report, or a new mission, but 5 notifications from Dazai? Not so normal.
Especially after their 4 years of no contact.
And to anyone who asks, no, Chuuya did not feel any sort of excitement seeing the contact on his phone. Not at all.
Atleast that’s what Chuuya tells himself.
With his hair now half dry, Chuuya goes to actually read thr messages.
‘Nakahara Chuuya,
I am writing to inform you of a recent task I would like for you to take care of. A new alliance opportunity as brought itself up, and I believe it is to the Port Mafia’s greatest interest to take upon this opportunity.
In order to make the best first impression, I would like you, as my left hand, accompanied by Ozaki Koyou, as my right hand.
It would do you greatly to take this opportunity. The meeting will take place at 1415 hours, 29th April, and I will send for an escort for you. I do hope you find the time to join us.
Kindest Regards,
Ougai Mori
Well.
That is certainly something.
—-~~-~_____~-~~—-
Despite what everyone believes, Chuuya isn’t stupid. He knows exactly what this implies, and he does not like this one bit.
‘A new alliance opportunity’.? Might as well just say it’s another chance for Mori to take over another organization. God that man could be cruel when he wanted to.
.
.
Wait.. 29th of April..? 1450 hours.? That’s in 2 hours! Oh curse Chuuya for checking his phone late.
Hurriedly, Chuuya fumbled a quick reply to the email, and got dressed into formalware. It was a simple outfit, nothing too different to his usual mafia-getup but it looked kinder in a way. A light blue vest, with grey accents, over a basic white blouse and some worn out, brown trousers. He needed to look welcoming for the meeting, but still look professional. This was good enough he thought, already moving on to grabbing a protein bar for lunch later.
His escort was arranged to come at 2pm, so he had time to walk to the main mafia base. As he approached the building, a resounding thought pestered his mind. Like he was forgetting something very important. Oh well, if he forgot then it’s probably not important enough to remember in the first place…
—-~~-~_____~-~~—-
The familiar black truck slowly appeared out of the corner of his eye, Chuuya pulled himself into a seat at the back, and kindly dozed off.
It wasn’t until he had arrived did he wake up, confused but compliant.
He squints up slowly, reading the text on the paper. Thanks to Koyou’s unwavering teaching skills, Chuuya was no longer illiterate! Although sometimes he completely forgets and just gives up…
“Administrative Agency..?” whispered Chuuya as he pushed through the double doors leading into the agency.
