Work Text:
Tango’s heart felt like it was breaking when he found out Impulse and Skizz had started dating.
Both of the men he had been pining over for years got together.
He stumbled into his base, pulling a bottle of wine from the back of his cupboards he was saving for a special occasion.
He flopped down on his couch, prying open the bottle as hot tears poured down his face.
As he downed the red liquid, he prayed to the gods above he would forget this, that the alcohol would stop the pain in his chest.

Skizz and Impulse sit at Impulse’s dining room table, a set of Uno cards out as they play with them.
“Ha!” Skizz exclaims, “Draw 4 DippleDop!”
Impulse sighs as he picks up the four cards.
A knock sounds from the front door.
“I got it.” Skizz says, jumping up to answer the door.
When he opens it he sees Tango.
“Top!” Skizz says.
Skizz looks up at him with red and puffy, red eyes.
The blaze hybrid moves forward, cupping both of Skizz’s cheeks with his hands and kissing him.
All Skizz can taste is the alcohol on Tango’s breath as he roughly kisses him.
Skizz squeaks, taking a step back, surprised.
Tango follows him, wrapping his arms around the back of Skizz’s neck, aggressively kissing the angel hybrid.
Skizz tries to push his friend off of himself, but the blaze hybrid won’t budge.
“Tango!?” Impulse shouts, running over to the commotion.
Skizz turns, pulling Tango with him, pinning the blaze hybrid to the wall.
The imp helps Skizz pry Tango off him.
The angel hybrid keeps Tango pinned against the wall at an arm's length.
The blaze hybrid’s crimson eyes move from Skizz to Impulse to Skizz to Impulse over and over again as they shine over, big tears start to pour down his cheeks as he cries, his body going limp against the wall.
Skizz lets him fall to the floor where he sits there, eyes closed and tears pouring down his cheeks.
“He’s drunk.” Skizz says to Impulse.
“Let’s move him to the guest room so he can sober up.” Impulse says.
They both hock an arm under Tango’s and lift him up.
Tango lets them, limply allowing them to move him as he cries.
They lay him on the bed in the guest room and he curls up into a ball, still crying.
The two boyfriends shut the door, leaving him alone.
“What happened?” Impulse says.
“I opened the door and he just kissed me.” Skizz says.
They go back to the table, cards still out, “He’s been drinking.”
“He doesn't drink to get drunk, something happened.” Impulse says.
“I guess we can ask him in the morning when he’s more sober.” Skizz says, and they continue to play in silence, the sobs of Tango muffled by the walls.
Eventually Tango must fall asleep because he is quiet.
Skizz and Impulse move to the couch, snuggling together and falling asleep.

When Tango wakes up his mouth is dry and his head hurts.
He sits up and instantly realizes he’s in Impulse’s spare bedroom (having crashes there plenty of times are a game night or movie night).
He feels sick to his stomach as the memories of the night before come crashing back to him.
What did he do?
He decides to bite the bullet and get out of bed.
The blaze hybrid walks over to the door, opening it slowly.
He exits the room and walks down the hall.
He sees Impulse and Skizz sitting at the dining room table, both sipping from a mug of coffee (by the smell) and talking quietly.
“Hey.” Tango says quietly.
He looks down, pink dusting his cheeks, showing his shame from the night before.
“Sit.” Impulse says and Tango does, walking over to the table and sitting across from both men, who sit next to each other.
Silence fills the air.
“I’m sorry.” Tango says, “I’m sorry Skizz. I’m sorry Impulse.”
His eyes stay trained in on the wooden table in front of him and not on the angel and demon hybrid’s eyes.
“Tango.” Skizz says, “I forgive you.” he says, “You were drunk and not yourself, but can you tell us why you kissed me like that, and why you were drunk in the first place?”
Silent tears start to slide down Tango’s cheeks.
“I liked you both.”he finally admits, “I have for years, and when you two got together it felt like something broke in me.” You can hear it in his voice now, the pain, the guilt, the heartache, “I went home and downed a bottle of wine, hoping it would make the pain go away, but it did not.”
“I came here, I don’t know why. When Skizz opened the door I just broke all over again and I wanted so badly to kiss him so I just did.”
Silence.
Fear fills Tango.
‘They hate me, they hate me, they hate me, they hate me, they hate me-” Tango chants in his head like an anthem, closing his eyes as hot tears pour from them and down his face as he prays to all the gods that they would take pity on him and perma kill him so he does not have to live without his friends love, or live with their hatred, ‘They hate, they hate me, they ha-’
“Tango.” Impulse says softly.
A hand is on his shoulder.
It burns hot through his shirt down to his blazeborn skin.
“If you had just asked, we could have talked this through.” Impulse says, “We don’t hate you.”
Tango opens his eyes, looking over at Impulse who is now standing next to him, Skizz beside him, “You-...”
“We don’t.” Skizz says.
“You should.” Tango says, looking away from them.
He hates himself so much.
“We could never hate someone we love.” Impulse says.
“Tango, we want to be with you.” Skizz says.
“Why?” Tango asks, looking at them again.
“We love you.” Impulse says, “We forgive you which means we take your apology.”
“Thank you.” Tango says.
Skizz pulls him into a hug, and so does Impulse.
