"Hey, just the drink, please." Gem said softly, pushing the drink across the counter, shoving her hands in her pockets while the cashier rang her up.
"3.72," The cashier drawled. Gen fumbled in her bag for her wallet, tapping her card on the scanner. She grabbed the drink, waving and leaving as fast as possible.
Gem walked out of the corner store, popping open the tab of her drink. She found herself stuck, unable to move. She simply couldn't leave the store's front.
The moon shone oh so brightly above her. Gem simply followed it. She began to walk the way opposite of her apartment. Gem found her feet taking her to the windy shores of her city. Gem slowly climbed and scaled the sandy terrain of the beach until making it to a hidden rocky cliff she never knew about before.
"Oh..." Gem breathed, taking in the sight. She stood in a small alcove, surrounded by trees and greenery, while moonlight shone on a rock peak. Someone stood on the bare tip of the peak, hands mindlessly fiddling with something Gem couldn't see. Suddenly, the person turned around, as if sensing Gem was there.
"Hey! Sorry I didn't see you earlier. I didn't know anyone else knew about this spot. I'm Pearl." The girl said, grinning and offering out a hand. Gem took out, her grip shaking.
"I-I'm Gem." Gem couldn't stop staring at the Pearl. She was so beautiful. Long brown hair fell to her mid back, and Pearl wore a dark blue hoodie with black sweats.
"I like to think the moon calls me here. It clearly doesn't like me sleeping, ey?" Pearl gently elbowed Gem in the side, eyes twinkling. Gem broke into a smile, taking a sip of her drink.
"Me neither."
"Hmm."
They both stayed like that for a while, simply staring at the moon. Peaceful.
"I should be going, my roomate will worry. Bye, Gem. See you around." Pearl turned suddenly, walking away, gravel crunching under her shoes.
"I hope I will." Gem whispered, clutching her drink.
