Summary
Everyone knows the Dance of the Dragons was caused by the usurpation of King Viserys' heir Rhaenyra Targaryen. But could it traced back further? Did the fall of House Targaryen not begin when Jaehaerys called the Great Council of 101 AC. Did it not arise because the Old King's children were all dead and buried, and his succession unclear?
Then could it be said that the true downfall of the Targaryens came when Jaehaerys' children died, one after the other in quick succession particularly his daughters.
What if that were not the case. What if all of Jaehaerys' daughters had survived their premature deaths, would it change the events of history? Of would House Targaryen be doomed to repeat its mistakes?Or,
A fix it alternate AU where the issue of Jaehaerys' succession is handled early on by the presence of his daughters, all alive and well.
