Chapter 1: Chapter One

Chapter Text

“Hey! Stop right there!

Bruno was in the middle of his usual routine of setting up the catch of the day when he heard the shout. He looked up and saw an interesting sight. There was a familiar looking teenager no older than fifteen running away from a purple long haired officer.

The teen was holding what seemed to be a duffle bag of various stolen items from the local convenience store. As the culprit ran, he dropped multiple items, littering the street with both food and random merchandise.

Bruno knew he had to do something so using his eight years of martial arts classes, (Thanks Padre!) he quickly came up with an idea. Knowing this street all too well, he figured the kid would run past the bike shop so he ran over to it waiting for the criminal.

“Get out the way or-”

The teen was cut off as Bruno grabbed him fast, placing him in a headlock, and earning a scream mixed with frustration and anger.
“Emiliano-” Bruno starts in a stern tone, “We talked about this compagno.”

As Emiliano swears in the town's native language, the officer from earlier runs up. Before he even speaks, Bruno comes up with a half assed excuse for the boys petty theft.

“I’m sorry Officer he WILL be returning these items and cleaning whatever mess he created, I’ll make sure of it.” he said, with a strained smile, "As for his punishment, I think repairs on Signore Costa’s is the least he could do.”

Bruno was more than angry and a bit panicked. Emilianos grandmother would blow a fuse when she finds out her grandson was caught stealing for the 3rd time this month. Silently praying the officer doesn't take the troublesome teen away, he finally gets a good look at the man.

Santa merda! He’s beautiful…

The man was dressed in a dark blue police uniform with his long hair tied in a messy ponytail down his back. He had a sweat on his brows (most likely due to the chase) and a very pissed face. The most striking feature however was his eyes. He had the prettiest eyes Bruno had ever seen. They were a deep amber color with specks of purple?! Whatever they were, they left the man speechless, staring at them in awe.

The (pretty)officer clicks his tongue in annoyance.
“This brat yours?” he asked.
“Well technically no-“

“Well you don’t get to decide his punishment.”

So pretty AND an ass Bruno thinks with a slight distaste for the officer. Emiliano wasn’t his child, hell he wasn't even his responsibility, but that didn’t mean he didn’t care about the boy.

Signora Bianchi was the one who taught him how to care for his father after the paralysis of his legs. The sweet old woman showed him the best ways to bathe, cook, and even soothe the man who gave him life. It was only natural to try and repay her in any way he could.

“He isn’t my child, but his grandmother is an old family friend.” Bruno grits his teeth. “Unless you want to be the cause of an old woman’s heart break, I’d suggest you let his punishment be up to the victim of his theft.”

The officer looks as if he wanted to say something but pauses. He gives Bruno a strange look and says something that renders them all speechless.

“Go out with me sometime”

“I’m sorry?!?” There’s no way he heard the man correctly. A date? With the pretty officer he just met?

“If you let me take you out,” the officer starts, “I’ll let the kid off with a warning and you can dish out whatever punishment you deem fit.”

I haven’t been asked out since my school days! Now I’m being hit on by a stranger?!
Freaking out wouldn’t help the issue at hand, so with a deep breath, he gives his answer.

“As long as you tell me your name first.”
