Thalassaphobia || Floyd Leech x GN!Reader

Summary:

After moving to a new beach house, your parents made merry with the neighbours kids and insisted on you hanging out with their two odd sons

Work Text:

The taste of sea salt and the slippery felt of water stood out as you felt a foreign embedding of lips onto yours. Feeling the touch of fingertips so delicately yet desperately holding onto your face, almost as though within the midst of a life or death situation. Feeling the residue of tears clinging onto your skin.

It was a matter of factly that you didn’t want to be in this situation. Which could have been easily avoided if it weren’t because your parents had decided to shift from their former place of residence.

It was just a month ago your parents had moved to a new town. you hated it. Because of all places your parents chose a town coastal to an ocean. Which would have been perfectly fine, of course, if it weren’t because it was a fact you had thalassaphobia. And yet no matter how much you reminded your parents of such fears, it seemed as though they ignored each one of your words, by brushing off each one of your words and claiming it was a silly fear and how it was an excuse just to not move.

you thought your situation would simply end there, if it were not because your parents end up meeting with the next door neighbour’s, hearing that they’ve got two twin sons just a year older than you and they force you to interact with them. You would have been fine with the arrangement if it weren’t because there was something iffy about the family living next to you. The parents smiles, that seemed so perfectly curated that it felt almost peelable like a sticker, a very sticky one. Their two equally odd sons, you couldn’t explain it in simple words but just looking at them made your sweat run cold, the palpitations in your heart growing more rapid and a subtle tremble in your hands that seemed to denote your instinctives knew better than you.

your parents would force your to hang out with these two twins, on a daily basis really. Claiming how it was the start of summer, where you hadn’t started school yet, where the only way for you to fish out friends was for you to hang out with the children of the neighbouring houses. You detested it. Especially when they bring in their silver haired friend into the loop that was as equally as odd as the other two. You did not want to be part of it.

Feeling a weight being compressed onto your chest, like an almost force of air was pushing out something heavy from your lungs. Pushing the body above off you did you sit up, flipping your body over and began coughing out a never ending surplus of seawater from your mouth into the sand. Feeling the residue that you just coughed up crystal felt on your lips that almost seemed to have been drained of colour. The salt on your lips, still heartfelt as you felt it prickle your skin.

you shifted your head, locking your eyes onto the mismatched ones before your as you felt the tight feeling of post aggressive coughing on your chest. Floyd Leech, likely the twin you least liked out of the pair. He was unpredictable, so was his brother but in a way that at least he didn’t pester you with his ominousness. The teal haired teen curled a brow,
“Why’re ya lookin’ at me like that?” He asked before feeling a hard slap sent across his face. A burning red hand mark sat still on the side of his cheek, a pang of shock spanning across his face before quickly turning to the one sitting before him, “The hell, I just saved you!?”
“Save me?” you uttered back at him, “Floyd, you nearly killed me,”

Sitting by a corner atop of a cliff by the beach, modestly tucked into a rocky wall as you occasionally glanced at the trio of teenage boys talking about something far along the beach whilst using a sharp rock to draw shapes on the sandy surface of the cliff. You hated those three, sitting by a cliff far away from them as a means to avoid them. You’d go back to your house but that’d mean hearing yet another scolding from your parents so you were forced to bare your time until dawn where you’d be free of your imaginary shackles.

The sharp tip of the rock broke as you had nearly finished drawing a childish stick-like drawing of a figure next to its friend. And it was just then you heard a voice,
“Whatcha doing?” you turned around, your eyes locking in with a pair of grey-yellow mismatched ones. Instinctively did the grip around the rock in your hand tighten.
“...Drawing,” you uttered, and it was almost as if your ears had turned attentive to all the sounds around you, hearing the waves crashing onto each other and eroding into the nearby rocks. He looked down at your, the shadow encompassing over his face almost intimidating before the corners of his lips lightly tugged into a faint smile,
“Cool, wanna watch the sea?”
“No…” you told him straightforwardly,
“Why not?”
“I don’t want to—” And before you knew it you felt a grip on your arm lifting your off the ground, a flash seemed to blink on your eyes as you stared at him nearly wide eyed as he neared the edge of the cliff, “—What are you doing!?”

you asked him, feeling your feet tumble against the rocky ground as he stopped you just a micrometre away from the peak edge of the cliff. Floyd continued staring at the ocean, seeing foams along the seconds worth edges of the dark blue waves below them.
“Can you swim?” He asked you, and just then you felt your sweat ran cold, feeling the sympathetic division of your brain activate where your heartbeat seemed to be louder than the crashing of the waves and the singing of the pelicans.

“...Floyd,” you uttered, deducing what’s going to happen, feeling the grip around the circumference of your arm tighten, “Floyd don’t.”
He grinned, menacingly without even looking at you. A small push, it was almost offensive, like if he were flicking a piece of paper away from him, all that strength was forced onto your back, feeling the air resistance blown against your face before feeling the top of your head hit against something…hard and angled, feeling your body roll over vertically as you felt your mind in a trance whilst feeling the almost euphoric feeling off enshrouded hues of blues and sunlight rays seeping into ripples of the sea. Looking up in the mostly conscious mind a rippled version of Floyd looking down at you as your weight slowly seeped into the bottom.

The memories resurfaced on your head, tasting bitter in your tongue. Feeling the wet fabric of your clothes clinging onto your skin coldly and remnants of sand particles attached to your clothes. A reverse fading voice was slowly sewn into the scene, foreign stitching of fabric invading the piece you were making, the soft stitching of baby pink and forest green being ruined by the bleeding of red stitching embedded onto the off white fabric.

“Floyd what were you thinking!?” you heard Azul’s voice ringing in your ears, seeing his hand creeping up into your visual field, seeing Floyd lightly flinch as the silver haired teenager grabbed onto his scalp, tearing into his hair to the beginning of his roots. you heard mumbling shouts on your end, staring off into the near half blurred scene as wet hair strands fell across your face, feeling the grazing of the wind ceasing as you felt a draping of thick fabric atop of both of your shoulders,
“I apologise for my brother," You heard the not so foreign voice, slowly shifting your head and seeing Jade, the other twin. A wry smile plastered on his face, as though he knew what his brother was trying to do and was disappointed at the outcome. At least you believe so. Staying silent for a few moments did you click your tongue, slightly pushing Jade away as you stood up, one hand gripping onto two lengths onto the fabric of what seemed to be a towel, nearing them into each other into a single clutch, catching Floyd and Azul’s attention mid fight. The grip on the associated ‘less responsible’ twin was loosened, Azul’s gaze flickering over to you,
“...Hey, I don’t believe you should go walking on your own,” He informed you, a tinge of worry in his voice, that didn’t feel like worry for you but rather worry of something else. You stopped walking, you would’ve blurted out a ‘kill yourself’ or sorts, but just then, you felt dizzy. you knew you were cold, but the top part of your head, nearing to the corners of your head felt extra freezing, one hand creeped up against onto your head, trembling did you feel a liquid feeling as you retracted your hand, your visual field darkening as you looked into your palm, a thin layer of deep velvet washing over your palm. Your balance felt loose, uncollected, your eyes trembled and you noticed the pieces of mush skin on certain parts of your hand. And just before your whole world went dark did you hear atleast two voices shouting your name, the voices well diffused into the background that you could hardly tell it was your name they were shouting. Half lidded eyes closing before feeling your head hit the sandy ground.
