Chapter 1: PROLOGUE

Chapter Text

Aiah Arceta’s life could easily be mistaken for a fairy tale. At home, she is the beloved daughter of an affluent family, the only child who has grown up with both love and expectation.

Her parents, both high achievers in their respective fields, have always given her everything she could ever want. But behind the designer clothes, the perfect smile, and the picture-perfect family, there’s a pressure she’s learned to bear.

In their spacious house nestled in one of the quieter neighborhoods of the city, Aiah is surrounded by luxury—polished marble floors, high ceilings, and a collection of trophies and awards lining the walls of the living room.

However, despite all the accolades, it’s her mother’s voice that echoes the loudest in her ears.

“Always be the best. You’re an Arceta, you’re meant to shine.” Her father, more reserved but just as proud, watches from the background with quiet approval, yet his gaze can sometimes feel like a weight on her shoulders.

“Aiah, sweetie, you’ll have to leave early for the event tomorrow. Your father was expecting you so be on time.” Her mom’s voice breaks her out of her thoughts, but Aiah forces a smile as she answers.

“Sure, Mom, I’ll be there. I’ll just finish my assignments and reports po.”

Her friends—Stacey, Maloi, and Sheena—are her safe haven from the world that constantly demands perfection.

With them, Aiah feels like she can be herself, without all the pressure. Their friendships are as much about laughter as they are about support.

Despite her enviable life, Aiah’s heart sometimes aches with a quiet longing for something more—something real. She enjoys the attention, but it can be exhausting, and it’s never enough to fill the spaces inside her heart that no award or title can reach.

But that was the life Aiah was born into—high expectations, praise, and admiration.

Still, deep down, she secretly yearns to find someone who sees beyond the beauty and the perfect smile. Someone who will see the person she truly is.

Jhoanna Robles, on the other hand, lives a world that couldn’t be more different. Born in a medium, bungalow house in a busy, noisy part of the city, Jhoanna was always the ‘problem child.’

Raised by her single mother, who worked long hours to make ends meet, Jhoanna had to learn how to fend for herself early on.

The house was often quiet, the kind of silence that fills your ears with thoughts you’d rather not listen to. But in that silence, she became fiercely independent, fiercely strong.

Jhoanna’s mother, though loving, was strict and sometimes distant. It wasn’t that she didn’t care for her daughter, but life’s difficulties had left her exhausted and preoccupied.

The result? Jhoanna grew up surrounded by chaos—her world filled with arguments, street fights, and the constant hum of the city.

The one thing that stood out for her was music. The school band became her sanctuary, a place where she could express the anger and frustration that boiled inside her. It was the only place where she could find peace, even as her life outside it was anything but.

At home, things weren’t much better. Jhoanna’s mom would often criticize her rebellious attitude, telling her to focus more on her studies and less on the street fights and band rehearsals.

“Jhoanna, kailangan mong magtino. Huwag mong gawing dahilan ang galit mo para hindi makapagtapos.” Her mom’s words never quite reached her, though.

Jhoanna wasn’t interested in being the perfect daughter or the model student. She just wanted to live her life, loud and free.

Despite her rough exterior, there was something magnetic about Jhoanna. Her friends—Mikha, Colet, and Gwen—were always by her side, even when she found herself in trouble.

They were the only ones who truly understood her, even if her wild side often scared people off. Mikha, Colet, and Gwen were like her sisters, keeping her grounded when everything around her seemed to be falling apart.

But even with the loyalty of her friends, Jhoanna couldn’t escape the loneliness that sometimes gnawed at her. She often wondered what life could be like if she wasn’t always fighting—if she could ever find a place where she didn’t have to keep her guard up. But for now, the rebellious, defiant image she had carefully built was all she had.

While Aiah’s life is one of elegance and perfection, Jhoanna’s is built on rebellion and raw emotion. Yet both are trapped in worlds where they feel like they’re playing a role, struggling with their own desires for something more authentic.

Both young women are admired, but for different reasons. Aiah’s beauty and charm win the adoration of many, while Jhoanna’s fierce independence and undeniable charisma attract a different kind of attention.

Their worlds couldn’t seem more different—one of grace and order, the other of chaos and passion. But fate has a way of bringing opposites together. Their worlds are bound to collide.

Aiah, with her calm, composed exterior, and Jhoanna, with her untamed spirit, are about to discover that despite their differences, they might just need each other more than they think.

As the story unfolds, both Aiah and Jhoanna will have to confront the masks they’ve worn and the lives they’ve built.

The question is:

Will they be able to embrace the other’s wildness and find love in the unlikeliest of places?

Or will their differences be too much to overcome?

Only time will tell.
