Lie, Lie, Lie

Summary:

Say it if you want to, and say it if you will
But if you don't say what you are thinking
And I won't take too kindly to it
Well, all I want is something special
And you can't give it to me
And all you do is lie to me
'Cause you're a liar, liar, liar

Aka

Lies can build up a new world. But they can also burn it down.

Work Text:

Dark felt an immense rage boiling up inside him. The face he knew so well. Damien’s body… But that smirk? The eyes? That was all His.

“Damien, Damien! So good to see you, old friend,” Mark gushed in his usual and familiar bravado, his cane - No, Damien’s cane - poised at his side in a light grip.

“It really has been awhile… I gotta say though, I have missed that face just a bit,” the actor jabbed, Dark’s eyes narrowing, jaw tightening.

“The feeling is mutual,” Dark states with as much calmness as he could muster, not daring to let the smug bastard rile him up.

Mark’s grin only widened, his eyes - a mahogany that was almost red and a true telling that he was not Damien - glittering with vicious glee. He twirled the cane skillfully and pointed it at Dark’s face.

“Well I know someone who would be most excited to see you again as well. It’s not fair of me to take all your time. Isn’t that right, Y/N?” Mark called out behind Dark, making him freeze.

There was no way… It was a trick. Yet Dark couldn’t help but jerk around, looking past a baffled William- just in time for his head to snap violently as a fist collided with his face, making him stagger back, a ringing in his ears.

Dark’s eyes swiveled to Mark, who wasn’t hiding his amusement, before they swiveled to his left… And came face to face with-!

“Y/N...” Dark rasped out, raw emotions overtaking him. Damien’s emotions were violently strong, their hand twitching at their side, an urge to reach out overwhelmingly present.

“Don’t you dare say my name. Wearing my face. Using my body!” The former defense attorney’s voice was familiar, yet void of their former warmth and greeting. Their eyes were cold and guarded.

It was then that dark saw it. Y/N was not all there. They seemed to be made of a fractured mirror, a reflection of their former self with cracks and shattered pieces here and there along their body… What had Mark done to them?

“Y/N… My friend, I-“ Dark began but was once again cut off as another fist caught him off guard, this time snapping his head harder and making them stagger back and almost fall over.

“Now, now, friend! What’s all this?” William spoke up, coming out of nowhere to catch Dark before he could fall over, a smile on his face as always as he steadied Dark before walking up to Y/N with a chiding wag of his finger.

Y/N’s rage - very open and very palpable in their eyes and body language - was suddenly replaced with discomfort and a glimmer of fear.

“Mark… Please… ,” Y/N whispered, backing away from William and almost falling over themselves to get away from the former Colonel.

Dark took a step towards William. To aid him or stop him he didn’t know. But he was left in horror as Mark - somewhat forgotten in Dark’s daze - appeared behind William, cane raised to strike.

“Wil!” Dark bellowed, just in time for the man to turn and be buckled by the assault of Mark’s cane to his skull, a dazed and pained look on William’s face as he fell to his hands and knees, blood dripping from where Mark had struck.

Before Dark could move, Mark’s finely polished shoe made contact with Wilford’s face, knocking him down and making him roll violently across the floor like a rag doll.

“You bastard!” Dark charged, anger bubbling out as he made a grab for Mark. He could feel Celine steering, sensing the Colonel’s condition.

“Damien! Easy now,” Mark chided as he backed away to Y/N, who clung to Mark and pulled him close. “You’re scaring Y/N.”

“Y/N… Get away from him,” Dark rasped out, rage boiling over as Mark’s hands went to Y/N’s waste, nuzzling them with a smug smile. Dark was going to kill him!

“No, Damien… You come any closer, I’ll kill you,” Y/N spat, their cold anger returning with William out of the way. “That’s a promise that, unlike you, I’ll keep.”

“He’s a monster, Y/N! You can’t trust him!” Dark snapped, his image flickering violently.

“The only monster I see is you!” Y/N hissed, getting up in Dark’s face - their face - with a wild expression in their eyes.

“You lied to me… You left me to rot. You promised you’d come back for me. That we’d work together. You and Celine hated me that much? I thought we were friends... I see now I was just a pawn. I was never your friend... But Mark? He came for me. He found me. He saved me!” Y/N grabbed at Dark’s suit, dragging him in closer with a snarl. Their beautifully handsome face contorted in an ugly sneer.

“You stand in my body, calling the only one who did me no harm, a monster? Mark didn’t take my body. Mark didn’t lie to me. So don’t you dare speak ill of him!” Y/N bit through gnashed teeth, shoving Dark back hard and he was barely able to catch himself from falling.

Through the fringes of his bangs, Dark could see Mark’s eyes glowing red and his smile wicked as he came up closer behind Y/N, brushing a strand of their hair from their ear as he leaned down to whisper something to them, his right hand coming around to cup Y/N’s jaw, tilting their head up to look them in the eye.

Disgust and jealousy snakes it’s way through Dark’s blood, his own eyes glowing an inky black, teeth bared and mashed as he watched Y/N’s eyes glaze over red, lips parting in awe of the devilish actor… The sick bastard had Y/N in their grasp. Wrapped up in his sick world…

“You’re gonna have to be the villain sometimes, Damien.”

Celine… Fine. If being a villain was what he needed to be to wake up Y/N… Then he could be the villain. Mark would win but…. He’d regret it.

With a final look at Y/N, Dark's body flickeredto Wil and grabbed his unconscious friend before sending a glare to Mark as he flickered away, leaving the actor and former district attorney… He had a plan to set up now.
